Jonjo Shelvey scored his first goal for Turkish club Caykur Rizespor on Sunday afternoon and it was certainly one he will remember.

The former Liverpool midfielder scored from inside his half to give Caykur Rizespor the advantage over Istanbulspor in the fifth minute of the game.

Shelvey received the ball from his Mithat Pala inside his half, took a touch, and realized Istanbulspor goalkeeper David Raagaard Jensen was off his line.

The 31-year-old took his opportunity and went for a goal from distance - finding the back of the net from inside his half.

The goal drew similarities to the time David Beckham scored for Manchester United from the halfway line at Wimbledon on the opening day of the 1996-1997 season.

had hoped for a 'fresh start' at Nottingham Forest but again he struggled to get game time under Steve Cooper, making eight appearances for the first IX.

His absence from the side came after reports suggested that he had been left unhappy with the manager's decision to drop him from Forest's visit to Liverpool last season.

He was told to 'stay at home' by the Garibaldi boss, who was unimpressed by his attitude and performances in training but afterward quashed any claims that there was ill feeling between the pair.

Shelvey notably did not travel with Forest to their pre-season training camp in Spain earlier this summer and decided to play out the remainder of the season with Turkish side Rizespor who currently sit 10th in the Super Lig.
