00:00 - To... - Elfin, the end.
00:02 Yes. Thank you. Professor?
00:05 This story takes us way down to the South Pole.
00:09 Rather than have you stand on your heads, let's turn the theater over.
00:16 There. That's better.
00:19 Two things you will find most of down here are ice...
00:23 ...and penguins.
00:27 It's amazing that anybody would want to live here,
00:30 but most penguins wouldn't live anywhere else.
00:33 You couldn't find better weather for fishing,
00:38 skiing,
00:40 tobogganing,
00:42 or swimming.
00:43 And there is nothing the average penguin likes better than a day at the beach.
00:50 But come on, let's meet Pablo.
00:53 He lives down at the end of Main Street.
00:56 Let's go in and see what's cooking.
00:58 Pablo could never remember having been warm enough,
01:03 and so his closest companion was Smokey Joe,
01:06 his little stove.
01:08 Between chills, Pablo had one burning desire,
01:19 to spend the rest of his life on some tropical shore.
01:25 So we see him bravely set forth for the isle of his dreams.
01:29 The other penguins turned out to give him a big send-off.
01:32 But when he gets just so far away from his stove...
01:37 ...see what happens?
01:42 Too bad. Perhaps he'll give up this wild idea.
01:50 But no! He's off to another start.
01:55 This time he's bringing a friend.
01:58 Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
02:03 Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
02:07 Anyway, it was a hot idea.
02:14 Well, maybe he'll be content to stay at home this time.
02:20 (Squeaking)
02:22 But no! There he goes,
02:27 hot-footing it to the land of the sun.
02:30 By now, the farewell committee has been reduced to two.
02:35 (Squeaking)
02:37 Discouraging, isn't it?
02:52 Suddenly, Pablo got one of those ideas that change a person's whole life.
03:02 A boat. But where would he get a boat?
03:05 Just watch.
03:07 "Where there's a will, there's a way," they say.
03:19 And now, the official launching.
03:31 Day after day, the south wind carried him north.
03:35 One day, a blanket of fog rolled in.
03:40 And it was so thick...
03:44 (Fog horn blowing)
03:50 ...must be near Cape Horn.
03:54 As the fog lifted...
03:57 ...he found himself headed straight through the Straits of Magellan
04:01 and northward along Chile's rocky coast.
04:04 One day, a storm cloud came up.
04:07 Just a little bitty old storm cloud, though.
04:11 It just tried awful hard to have its first storm.
04:17 Didn't amount to much, though.
04:22 One day, on lookout, Pablo had a bit of a shock.
04:26 A water spout off the port bow.
04:29 But it proved to be the Juan Fernandez Islands where Robinson Crusoe once lived.
04:36 And still does, apparently.
04:39 (Bell ringing)
04:42 Four bells and all's well.
04:45 According to Pablo's chart, he should be nearing Viña del Mar.
04:50 And strangely enough, that's just where he is.
04:54 He sailed past Lima, capital of Peru.
04:57 Hugging the coastline with a tenacity of purpose seldom found in a penguin.
05:02 One day, his telescope picked out a city high up on top of a mountain.
05:07 The map said it was Quito.
05:09 And it was right smack on the equator.
05:12 It wasn't as easy to cross, but with a little help from Neptune, he made it.
05:20 So, making a left turn, he followed the equator, headed for the Galapagos Isles.
05:25 Ah, that good old sun.
05:29 Pablo felt that he'd never get enough of it.
05:32 Oh, he hadn't counted on this.
05:40 Things looked pretty bad.
05:43 Help! Man the pumps! She's come to leak!
05:46 Pipe all hands on deck! Do things! Get going! Take to the lifeboats!
05:50 Abandon ship! Unruffle the mizzenmask and man the pokes!
05:54 Well, don't just stand there! Get going! Schwab the decks!
05:57 Help!
06:00 (hissing)
06:02 (hissing)
06:04 (hissing)
06:20 (hissing)
06:23 (hissing)
06:25 Look! What's that?
06:39 Just what he's been looking for!
06:41 Pablo has finally reached the Isle of his dreams.
06:49 And so, as the warm, tropical sun sinks slowly in the west,
06:54 we leave little Pablo.
06:56 A bird in paradise.
06:58 A picture of health in his new coat of tan.
07:01 He should be the happiest penguin in the world.
07:04 Only, sometimes, he gets to thinking...
