00:00 Can I get your reflection on the game first?
00:09 Yeah, I didn't like the game. I didn't enjoy it at all. I felt that we probably made less
00:17 passes in the second half but were better, believe it or not. I thought we made a lot
00:23 of passes in the first half and kind of got captured a lot and trapped and they pressed
00:28 really well. We didn't do the right thing. I felt that we went a little more direct in
00:34 the second half but it was needed because of their press. We played down the sides of
00:38 them a little bit better. So yeah, I didn't like the first half at all. I felt it was
00:44 end to end. Obviously didn't like the start. Poor goal to give away after 90 seconds. Disappointed
00:52 with that but we continued to try and play the right way. I just felt that we didn't
00:58 do the right things at the right times today, especially in that first half. I thought we
01:02 played better in the second half of actually not passing it that much but it was needed.
01:09 Yeah, needed but we obviously got the three points. It must be a great feeling because
01:13 the performances that we've had of late, as we've said many times, haven't been bad ones
01:16 and today we've finally been rewarded, haven't we?
01:19 Yeah, for sure. We have and we created quite a bit today as well. I thought there could
01:24 have been more goals as well. I know we scored three but there could have been more. But
01:30 yeah, really, really pleased to get back to winning ways.
01:33 Danilo Horty is on top form. He's going to take a lot of the plaudits today. It must
01:37 be a great feeling having a striker that's really found form now. He's obviously picking
01:41 up with a few goals here and there at the start of the season but he's now really hit
01:44 form, isn't he?
01:45 Yeah, I think that's nine is it? Nine in 16 games I believe. So, good return. Great
01:50 lad. Deserves it. Works his absolute socks off every day. I'm really pleased for him
01:57 and he's been brilliant. So, yeah, really pleased for him.
02:00 Jadon Williams coming back in was brilliant at centre-back. Obviously we've had to move
02:03 a few things around with injuries. It must be pleasing for you as a manager to know that
02:07 you can rely on these players to come back in and put in shifts for 90 minutes and even
02:11 having missed a game for injury.
02:12 Yeah, of course. You know, Jay's a warrior. He's a tough kid and I thought he was good
02:18 today. I thought he played in that central role really well today alongside Gladys dropping
02:22 in and obviously the outside centre-halves in Will and Lawrence. I thought we looked
02:29 solid actually, especially in the second half. I thought first half we were a little open.
02:33 Turned it over a lot and of course the first goal I was really disappointed with but their
02:39 xG would be quite low I would think. I don't think it would be anything to write home about
02:44 whereas ours will be okay. So, pleased with that. But yeah, pleased with Jay.
02:50 Hi Scott. It felt like quite a scrappy game. There seemed to be a lot of challenges that
02:55 seemed to go ignored by the referee and I don't want to get you in any kind of trouble
02:59 on that but what were your view on some of the challenges that were let go?
03:03 Just horrific. Just horrific. There was a foul before they scored. We'd probably been
03:09 playing 30 seconds on Adam Campbell. So clear it's untrue and he's just right in front
03:17 of the linesman just play on. I thought that was strange and it kind of carried on throughout
03:23 the game for me. I don't want to say too much more than that really.
03:28 Fair enough. Luka, obviously his first start in the league this year. What were your view
03:33 on his performance?
03:34 He was good. I thought he'd done extremely well. We had two league debuts today in Adi
03:41 and Luka so that's a big positive for the football club and a big plus for me as a manager.
03:48 We want to see players come through and make their league debuts and do well and I thought
03:53 they both did really well today.
03:54 Yeah, Adi particularly. Did he do everything you needed him to do when he came on for his
04:00 short stint?
04:01 Yeah, for sure. He worked hard, he made tackles, he passed it nicely. He's a good player. He
04:07 can play in a lot of positions. He can play wide left, wide right, two number 10s. He
04:10 probably plays a striker. He's got a good ability. He's probably playing as a midfield
04:14 player. He makes tackles, he runs, he's quick. He's a very good player.
04:19 And we've talked a lot this week about them being soft letting in soft goals. How frustrating
04:23 was that first goal today?
04:25 Yeah, really frustrating because we've done a lot of work this week on showing the opposition
04:30 away from the goal. You saw it after 90 seconds where he came inside on his stronger foot
04:36 to shoot. So disappointing with that and I know the players were as well. But we continued
04:44 with how we play and tried to do the right thing by putting it right, which they did.
04:49 So sometimes you're not going to get every action spot on. Disappointing with it. But
04:55 we will get better. We will get better because of the work that we're going to do.
04:59 And on the flip side, Will Wright, what a strike.
05:01 Yeah, great finish wasn't it? Just found himself in the middle of the pitch somehow driving
05:07 towards the goal and it opened up perfect for him. I always fancied him once I could
05:12 see that he was going to shoot. You kind of knew that he's not going to be too far away
05:16 because of the ability that he's got. But unbelievable finish, yeah.
05:21 And on a slightly lighter note, Ronan Darcy's haircut, what do you think?
05:25 I actually think he looks alright. He's going to get sponsored by Schlesinger as he looks
05:30 like a tennis player. But no, I think he looks alright. I think it suits him.
05:37 Brilliant, thanks Scott.
05:38 Thank you.
05:39 Matt.
05:40 Scott, you spoke just then about the opposition's xG being lower. I thought it was a really
05:46 good performance in the second half particularly at the back. How much of a positive is that
05:50 now going forward as you spoke as well on Tuesday saying you don't want to leak as many
05:55 goals?
05:56 Yeah, really positive. I think that we were disappointed to concede after 90 seconds,
06:00 you know, after the work we've done this week. We kind of put it to bed quickly and we carried
06:07 on playing our way as best as we could. And I thought defensively in the second half especially
06:13 I thought we were a lot better. I thought we were open in the first half but I don't
06:16 think we played well in the first half. I thought we made, like I say, I thought we
06:19 made more passes in the first half than we did in the second but I thought we were better
06:22 in the second. I think we didn't, because they pressed really well, we didn't play down
06:28 the sides of them enough for me. We didn't get kind of in behind them and make them,
06:33 ask questions of them too many times in the first half and I felt we did that better in
06:37 the second half.
06:38 Having the trio of Lollos, Orsi and Campbell all-star team, especially with the chances
06:44 you created today, how much of a threat can that be going forward?
06:47 It's a big threat. All three of them can score, all three of them can make goals and off the
06:53 back of that you've got some good players to come on as well. In Ronan Darcy obviously,
07:01 Addy can play in them positions as well. We've got Raf missing at the moment through illness.
07:07 Cam Sawyer can make a difference in them positions as well. Rolsey, obviously, he was due to
07:14 be part of the squad today but got injured from training yesterday, so one we missed
07:22 there. We've got players who can hurt opposition in them positions, we've got good numbers
07:27 in them positions.
07:28 Back-to-back wins as well, including the Cup midweek, how big is that now going into Barrow
07:35 next week?
07:36 It's a nice feeling as a manager and of course all the players and everybody that works hard
07:44 every day because there's nothing better than working towards a game and then coming away
07:51 with a win. It's everything you work for, especially after the run of form we've had
07:57 in terms of results. It was important we won the game today. I don't particularly think
08:02 the performance was great but a win at this stage of the season and what's happened in
08:08 the past is really important.
