02:09 Hello everyone. Welcome back into our studio here in Kelowna. Day two of competition.
02:15 I have a special guest with me right now, Alexa Linden, a former ice dancer at the senior
02:20 national level and now is a nurse and also the medical person in charge here at the Sectional
02:26 Championships. Quite a journey, no question. Alexa, welcome and thank you for your volunteer work.
02:31 I first of all want to ask you about the transition from competitive skating at the senior level
02:36 into, you know, how did you make that decision, that transition into school, into nursing? Because
02:41 it's very different from being, you know, an ice dancer into the emergency room at a hotel,
02:47 at a hotel, at a hospital. Tell us a little bit about that. Some think it is the hotel. No, yeah,
02:53 it was a bit of a transition for me. Coming out of skating, it was kind of a chaotic end with my
03:00 skating partner unfortunately breaking his leg. And we both actually were quite lucky because we
03:05 were actually in school while we trained. So we would do all of the hours of training,
03:09 going to school afterwards. And yeah, it just kind of, I wanted to follow in my parents' footsteps.
03:17 I really enjoyed health, really enjoyed everything with sports and thought nursing would be a good
03:22 blend. So that transition from competing into, you know, a period of time that you probably wonder
03:27 what do I want to do? How long does that generally take for an athlete to sort of get over?
03:31 Great, great question. I don't think I'm actually ever over it. Whenever I'm at a competition,
03:38 I'm seeing the skaters and I'm nervous for them. I'm excited for them. So I think it's just,
03:43 yeah, I don't know how long, I don't have that answer for you yet.
03:47 Well, we really appreciate you're still back in their sport with in production, of course,
03:51 as well. And here as a medical assistant, making sure that all the athletes are safe. Of course,
03:57 no one has been injured except for me. And I was the only patient here this week so far. Hopefully
04:04 that's I'm the last patient here. He actually came twice. So yeah,
04:08 well, because the band aid was really weird. And you know, anyways, thank you so much for
04:12 all your work as a volunteer. And of course, he had a great career as well. We're going into the
04:17 or we just finished the novice women's short program. The results after that in third place,
04:22 all three in the top on the podium are from Connaught Skating Club in third place. Vicky
04:28 Yeah, you can pan 35.49 in second Ilona Chen 35.78. And in first place Emily Liao with a 47.82
