01:22 >> The coach was really worried when Cooney went to bat,
01:25 for all he had to offer was 300 pounds of fans.
01:28 Ah, but Cooney was determined.
01:30 He tried to do his worst.
01:32 He kept his batting average all right.
01:36 And as usual, died at first.
01:39 >> Yeah!
01:40 >> That's the fat pity old boy!
01:42 Come on in!
01:43 >> Hooray for our side!
01:44 Hooray, hooray!
01:46 >> Ah, shut up!
01:47 >> Sit down, you little rascal!
01:48 >> Hurry him up!
01:49 >> Give me up the bum, I'll kick your stuffings out of him!
01:51 >> Yeah, run that guy out of town on the rail!
01:54 >> Barrels was the next one up, and Barrels made a hit.
01:58 Wow, he spanked a beauty right in the pitcher's mitt!
02:01 [ Music ]
02:03 >> That's the fat pity old boy!
02:04 Come on in, old piglet!
02:05 >> Hooray for our side!
02:07 >> Well, there goes the--
02:08 >> A straggling few got up to go.
02:10 Ah, but the loyal fans stood pat.
02:13 They'd put up even money now were Casey in the back.
02:18 Ah, but Flynn preceded Casey of all the stupid guys.
02:24 The bat is getting in his head.
02:26 Now the head is getting in his back.
02:29 He gagged.
02:30 He let fly the single.
02:31 Much to his own surprise.
02:33 [ Music ]
02:44 >> Hey!
02:46 [ Cheering ]
02:50 >> The next one in the lineup was no-hit Jimmy Blake.
02:53 Of all the mugs in Mud Hill, he was the biggest fake.
02:56 But he was really blazing into the wonderment of all.
02:59 Blake the fake tore the cover off the bar!
03:02 [ Music ]
03:16 And when the dust had lifted and they saw what had occurred,
03:19 there was Jimmy safe at second and Flynn hugging her.
03:23 Cozy, isn't it?
03:24 >> You're safe!
03:26 [ Music ]
03:39 >> We want Casey!
03:41 We want Casey!
03:43 We want Casey!
03:45 [ Cheering ]
03:47 >> Oh, Casey's the guy with his eye on the ball.
03:52 >> But mostly the nanny.
03:54 >> Casey is mighty and manly.
03:57 Casey's a dangerous gent.
03:59 >> He gagged when he goes to bat.
04:02 Hang on to your hat.
04:03 He's batting at 1,000% with the nanny.
04:06 So Casey has love and he knows every curve.
04:10 He's no hokey pokey.
04:13 He gets away with that old double play.
04:16 He's your okey dokey.
04:18 He's your okey dokey.
04:20 He gets away with that old double play.
04:24 He's your okey dokey.
04:26 He makes all the ladies go gag at his shoe.
04:29 No wonder they schmooze when he comes into view.
04:32 He was the Sinatra of 1902.
04:36 Casey, the pride of them all.
04:43 >> The pitcher's nerves were jagged and his knees began to shake.
04:48 [ Indistinct talking ]
04:53 >> One eye was watching Flynn and the other eye watching Blake.
04:57 [ Music ]
05:12 >> While the frightened pitcher ground the ball into his hip,
05:16 defiant screamed in Casey's eye.
05:19 A smear curled to Casey's lip.
05:21 [ Laughing ]
05:24 >> And now the leather covered sphere came hurtling through the air.
05:28 And Casey stood watching it in haughty grandeur there.
05:32 Close by the sturdy batsman, the ball unheeded spread.
05:36 That ain't my style, said Casey.
05:38 >> Eee-rike one!
05:42 >> The umpire said, from the benches black with people, there went up a mighty roar.
05:48 Like the beating of the ocean on a stern and distant shore.
05:52 >> Kill him!
05:53 Kill the umpire!
05:55 >> Yelled the cutie from the stand.
05:57 And it's likely they'd have killed him had not Casey raised his hand.
06:04 >> With a smile of Christian charity, great Casey's visage shone.
06:11 He stared at the rising tumult and bade the game go on.
06:17 [ Cheering ]
06:21 >> He signaled to the pitcher and once more the spheroid flew.
06:25 But Casey still ignored it and the umpire said, quote,
06:29 >> Eee-rike two!
06:33 >> Unquote.
06:34 Crowd cried the bat in thousands and the echo answered, "Farad!"
06:38 But one thoughtful look from Casey and the audience was awed.
06:45 They saw his face go stern and cold.
06:47 They saw his muscles strain.
06:49 And they knew that Casey would not let that ball go by again.
07:00 The sneer is gone from Casey's lip.
07:02 His teeth are clenched and ached.
07:04 He pounds with cruel violence.
07:06 His bat upon the plate.
07:08 And now the pitcher holds the ball.
07:10 And now he lets it go.
07:12 And now the air is shattered by the force of Casey's blow.
07:16 [ Explosion ]
07:20 >> Somewhere in this paper land, the sun is shining bright.
07:30 >> Ah, yes.
07:32 >> Somewhere bands are playing sweet.
07:37 >> And somewhere hearts are mine.
07:43 >> Somewhere men are laughing.
07:47 [ Laughter ]
07:49 >> Somewhere children shout.
07:54 [ Explosion ]
07:57 >> But there is no joy in Mudvin.
08:00 Mighty Casey has struck out.
08:04 [ Grunting ]
08:09 [ Music ]
08:25 >> Casey the kind of level.
08:33 >> What do you know?
08:34 The game is over.
