What We Know About Brock Bowers Return to Georgia Football
Transcript
00:00 Welcome in, ladies and gentlemen, on a beautiful Wednesday here on the Film Guy Network.
00:05 And I'm going to be honest with you.
00:08 Few things about one Brock Bowers make a lot of sense to me, all right?
00:12 If I'm just going to be honest with you and quantify it, say, "Hey, let's try to find
00:16 some sense in this equation."
00:19 Can't find a lot of it.
00:20 He's from Napa, California.
00:22 Did you know that there's only two NFL players in the history of the NFL from Napa, California?
00:26 The last one was some offensive tackle in the mid-90s named Mike Gibson.
00:31 Don't know, never heard of him, nonetheless.
00:33 There's only been two of them.
00:34 There's set to be three very, very soon.
00:36 He's going to go down as the greatest of all time in a lot of opinions at the tight end
00:41 position.
00:42 And he was ranked outside of the top 300 for majority of his recruitment process.
00:46 In fact, he was the number two overall tight end shortly after committing to the University
00:51 of Georgia.
00:52 Funny how those bumps always happen.
00:54 But we've always talked about that.
00:56 That's to be expected in terms of the ratings bump.
00:58 But he is going to go down as the greatest tight end of all time, particularly at the
01:02 University of Georgia.
01:03 And he's going to do so as not exactly the most gifted in the history of Georgia football
01:09 at the position.
01:10 And I know that's going to sound rather crazy.
01:12 A lot of people are going to think, "But Brooks, he's way faster than anybody else that's played
01:16 the position."
01:17 And I would say, yeah, that's probably his one of one trait in terms of physical gifts.
01:22 He's way faster than everybody else.
01:24 But I would also probably argue that most of that speed is probably a byproduct of his
01:29 work ethic.
01:30 He runs faster than everybody else because he runs harder than everybody else.
01:35 That is his nature.
01:36 That is what his attribute is.
01:38 He is not the biggest.
01:39 He is not the freakiest.
01:41 But yet he is the best.
01:43 He's the best of all time.
01:44 And how?
01:45 How did we get to that?
01:46 If he's not the biggest, if it's not the freakiest, but he is somehow the best, how did he get
01:51 there?
01:52 What is his alien trait?
01:53 What is his alien trait?
01:54 What does he do so much better than everybody else that he is this person, that he is this
01:59 football player?
02:00 His alien trait is his work ethic, folks.
02:02 It always has been.
02:03 If you listen to the stories about this individual during his time at the University of Georgia,
02:07 they revolve around his work ethic.
02:10 He is the fastest.
02:12 He is the best because he runs harder.
02:14 He runs longer.
02:15 He works harder.
02:16 His work ethic is that of a psycho, right?
02:19 This dude is a psycho.
02:21 So when he went down against Vanderbilt and it was reported that he was going to ultimately
02:24 have tightrope surgery, there was no doubt in my mind that he would inevitably be back
02:29 in a Georgia uniform at some point.
02:32 I was confident of that, right?
02:34 We had very, very staunched opinions about people thinking that he might wrap it up and
02:38 call it a career at the University of Georgia.
02:41 We knew for a fact he would be back.
02:43 I was confident that he was going to be back.
02:45 I was confident that he was going to do so and try to defy all of the odds in terms of
02:51 the timetable in his return.
02:54 I was positive that he was going to attack rehab and attack this process of getting back
02:59 onto the field just as hard as he did any other process throughout his career.
03:04 We reported last week over on Patreon.com/BrooksHawson that he was back running on the sideline at
03:10 speeds that were staggering.
03:11 Speeds when I was told last week and the end of last week, when I got the word on it,
03:16 dude, I didn't even want to report it.
03:18 I didn't.
03:19 I thought it was Fugazi.
03:20 I didn't believe it.
03:21 I didn't think that it was possible that this dude would be back running in a straight line
03:25 somewhere around 19, 20 miles per hour.
03:28 But I did report on Patreon.com/BrooksHawson that he was back running and he was back running
03:32 pretty daggum fast.
03:33 Marcus Orsini-Jack Saint confirmed those reports as we told you yesterday, saying in his media
03:38 availability that indeed it was true, Brock Bowers was running last week as fast as 20
03:43 miles per hour.
03:44 Kirby Smart talked to the media today again in this SEC teleconference and he kind of
03:49 gave another update.
03:50 We've been given these acceleration numbers.
03:53 We've been given these speed numbers, but of course it's always a little bit more difficult
03:57 than just raw data points.
03:59 These are very complex situations.
04:01 They are moving situations and it's not just that data point that they're taking into consideration
04:06 at the University of Georgia.
04:07 It's not just acceleration.
04:09 It's deceleration.
04:10 How fast can you stop yourself once you get going?
04:13 Those are the numbers that they're also taking a look at right now.
04:16 But here's what I know.
04:17 Here's what I know to be fact, right?
04:19 I know for a fact that Brock Bowers loves football and loves playing football, particularly
04:23 for the University of Georgia.
04:25 I've already talked about it.
04:26 I know he's a psycho when it comes to work ethic, but I also know through some back channel
04:30 reporting and some things that we've always been hearing about rumblings with regards
04:34 to this guy might be playing through something.
04:36 All right, this guy might be banged up.
04:38 This guy might be this, this guy might be that.
04:39 I'm here to tell you Brock Bowers has played through a tremendous amount of pain already
04:43 at this point in his career.
04:45 There have been other times in football games where most people probably would have been
04:48 on the sideline yet 19s out there playing.
04:51 So I know for a fact his pain tolerance is rather ridiculous and rather out of this world.
04:57 Okay.
04:58 He deals with pain a little bit different than everybody else.
05:01 And I also know for a fact that this dude's doing everything possible to get back onto
05:05 the field as fast as possible.
05:07 All right.
05:08 So here's what you're here for tonight.
05:10 You're here looking at the title of the show and you want to hear some type of intel and
05:15 I'll give you a little bit right here.
05:16 All right.
05:17 This has already been on patreon.com/brooksawson for a couple of days now.
05:21 I have it on pretty good authority that he might've dressed last week.
05:26 Like there might've been some dressing just to dress last week.
05:30 All right.
05:31 And they pulled the curtain on that one.
05:34 I have unequivocal doubt, no doubt at all that number 19 is going to run out of the
05:40 tunnel on Saturday in full pads.
05:43 The question to me at this point is whether or not he's actually going to play snaps,
05:48 but I have it on pretty good feeling that there is very little that that football staff
05:53 and that in that room and that community around Brock Bowers right now is going to be able
05:57 to do anything to keep him from not dressing on Saturday because it is rare gentlemen.
06:03 And by the way, welcome in.
06:04 It is rare that we have a football player that is this talented with this much money
06:09 on the line, right?
06:10 Assumed presumed money on the line.
06:13 And you have to like hold the reins on the kid and say, Hey buddy, no, like slow down.
06:19 We don't necessarily absolutely 1000% need you this week.
06:23 Will you chill out?
06:25 And again, this go like if you listen to Todd Harley's pressers and media availabilities
06:29 this year, all he talked about was how he has to tell Brock, sit your ass on the sideline.
06:35 Don't move.
06:36 I guess to talk to him like that, like do not move.
06:38 You are not going in on this rep.
06:40 That's who this football player was this season.
06:42 That's who this football player has been his entire year or his entire career.
06:46 That's who this football player remains.
06:48 I expect to see him full padded on Saturday inside Sanford stadium for the last time.
06:53 Man, when he comes out of that tunnel, it might provide one of the most memorable moments
06:57 in light Georgia football history.
06:59 Just knowing like what Brock Bowers has done for this program and knowing who he is.
07:02 I mean, he is because he has become one of the most beloved players in program history
07:07 and to see him come out of the tunnel on Saturday and a Jersey, I think it's going to be electric
07:12 regardless of if he plays or not.
07:13 Yeah, just to see him in full pads one last time in Sanford is going to be really important
07:17 to the fans and to him, I think so.
07:19 I'm looking forward to it.
07:21 And again, I, it's not confirmed.
07:23 It's not anything I've been told.
07:25 I just got a real, real good suspicion based off everything that I've heard.
07:28 And I've got some different timelines on this stuff that I want to talk about just in a
