00:02 - Hello and welcome back to e-tron on track.
00:16 In this series, we're taking a closer look
00:18 at Audi's history of e-tron in motorsport.
00:21 Last time, remember, we saw Stefan Peterhansel
00:24 driving the Audi R18 for his very first time.
00:27 (upbeat music)
00:30 That was a lot of fun with Stefan.
00:36 This time, El Matador, Carlos Sainz,
00:38 has chosen one of our e-tron icons,
00:42 the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo.
00:44 The full name, it became virtual into reality.
00:49 Initially, the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo
00:51 was only a virtual concept car on the PlayStation.
00:54 Then the Vision became reality in 2018.
00:57 Audi employees developed and produced
01:00 this one-of-a-kind car within just 11 months.
01:03 It is one of the cars of the Vision Gran Turismo competition
01:07 that marked the 15th anniversary
01:09 of the popular console driving game.
01:12 It was used for thrilling passengers
01:14 during taxi rides at Formula E events.
01:17 The car was inspired by the Audi 90 in Sagittario.
01:20 Two electric motors drive the reaction,
01:22 while a third one powers the front.
01:24 With 815 horsepower and permanent four-wheel drive,
01:28 it accelerates from zero to 100
01:30 in less than two and a half seconds.
01:32 - It's actually looking really like the video game,
01:35 so well done, and I'm really looking forward
01:37 to have the car.
01:39 - Get on with it.
01:40 I look forward to hearing it.
01:41 (upbeat music)
01:44 So, okay, Carlos, ready to show some real vision?
01:49 Go!
01:50 (upbeat music)
01:53 (car engine revving)
01:57 Ah, Carlos, I could see you really enjoyed that.
02:12 Got a bit hot, the brakes at least.
02:15 You enjoyed the ride?
02:16 - Yeah, no.
02:17 You know what it is, 800 horsepower,
02:19 four-wheel drive, electric power,
02:21 which is really immediate.
02:24 - Zero to 100 in 2.5 seconds,
02:26 and you just let it fly.
02:28 - Really good fun, and such a nice car,
02:31 a nice-looking car.
02:33 I'm really looking forward to see the picture.
02:35 - No, it was so in a way.
02:37 Virtual gaming, your son for sure have played a lot.
02:40 You watched him over the shoulder.
02:42 Now you do the real thing.
02:43 - Now I need to try in the PlayStation,
02:45 how it works, if it is the same or not.
02:47 - Yeah, it looks good.
02:49 Anything you identify in your career with the car?
02:51 Any similarity in the driving?
02:53 - I think it's typical four-wheel drive,
02:57 circuit car, I think it's really effective,
02:59 and typical good car.
03:03 And we know all what is electric power,
03:06 which is really, when you get used to it,
03:08 you only want that,
03:09 because it's such an instant and powerful.
03:12 - But you stick to the RSQ for the car.
03:15 You don't take this?
03:17 - I don't think it will last long in the Dakar.
03:20 You go from one extreme to the other extreme.
03:22 I think this is the thing.
03:24 - Carlos Sainz, ladies and gentlemen,
03:25 he enjoyed it and so did we.
03:27 And maybe we go on and look if we can find
03:31 another legend in a suit like that.
