00:00 Across the country, I think we see people who are reasonable,
00:04 who are moderate, and who would always want to support the police
00:09 in making difficult decisions in difficult circumstances.
00:14 And that's what you get with an incoming Labour government
00:17 if we're privileged to come in to serve.
00:20 What you've got at the moment is the complete opposite.
00:23 A Home Secretary who is divisive, who is stoking up tension
00:28 at the very time that we should be trying to reduce tension,
00:32 and is undermining the police as they go into a very difficult
00:37 set of operational decisions.
00:39 So she is doing the complete opposite of what I think
00:43 most people in this country would see as the proper role
00:46 of a Home Secretary.
00:47 But then that's compounded by the fact that we've got
00:50 a Prime Minister who is too weak to do anything about it.
00:54 That's the worst of all circumstances for so many people
00:58 across the country.
00:59 It's the worst of all circumstances from the police.
01:03 And that's why it's very important I set out the Labour alternative,
01:07 which is to respect, to reduce tension, to work with everybody
01:11 to reduce tension, and to ensure that we support the police
01:15 in difficult decisions that they have to make on the ground.
