00:00 Hey guys, I'm Brian Johnson from ACDC. We're here in Sydney with a band started
00:05 And I'm gonna have a look around town see what's happening. Okay. See ya
00:09 Nice right
00:16 There we go
00:20 I can't right we're gonna leave the hotel and we're gonna go to the biggest and best landmark in all of Australia and the world
00:29 It's the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Let's go and say that first. Hope we go. See ya
00:34 Well Sydney is where the band started a little place called checkers was one of the famous clubs
00:41 they played a lot of bars and stuff when they started and
00:44 Angus used to jump around a lot basically he said because there was so many drunks and so many fights
00:50 He move around as quick as he could avoid the bottles and the glasses, but the city itself. I mean just look at it
00:57 I mean, it's it's the place to live the call to look at people for a reason. It's just a wonderful place to live
01:03 How's about that then well here we are right under the Sydney Harbour Bridge
01:11 Which makes me feel at home actually because it's the exact copy of the one in your castle only five times bigger
01:18 and
01:20 But just a spit in a toss away just this way. Look at this
01:24 What a lucky city. This is to the most well-known structures in the world Sydney Harbour Bridge in the Opera House
01:30 fantastic
01:33 And I'm driving this to say it all pretty cool. They're all going up to claim up the top there
01:39 Which is there you go. Hey guys
01:41 Rather you than me. I'm standing up. Yeah
01:49 Anyway from here, we're gonna try to get down to Bondi. We're gonna top a drive around see what brings any memories back from the
01:55 30 years. I've been in a CDC and been coming down here. Oh
01:59 Hello, miss. Oh, hey, all right
02:01 Hello, me little angel. What do you think of me ride pretty kill? Aye? Yeah, I could talk Aussie and everything. It's right
02:08 I'll say seven
02:10 Think the very fact that it's 30 years in an anniversary of joining a band and
02:17 The back of black album coming out and the passing of bond. I mean, it's a big
02:22 big step in my life to know that I'm 62 years old and I'm still rocking on stage with the guys and
02:29 and we've brought on gen generations of new fans as we've seen the day of the kids and
02:35 I'm proud of it. I
02:39 Think I've just thought something up for this car. It's
02:43 It's
02:45 Silence with violence, that's what this car is
02:50 Jesus you'd be hard not to get a ticket with this
02:54 In fact, I'm gonna check
02:58 Thank you very much, mate
03:01 Look at this what better than to be the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a nice big Rolls-Royce
03:09 Look at this. I tell you what it is. I think this is more breathtaking than the Golden Gate Bridge
03:15 I really do. It's just something about it. It's just so
03:18 Solid I just like it
03:22 And I love the names here Kira Billy now worries
03:26 Yeah, whoa, look at that right around here
03:30 I got to say I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie
03:36 I got to tell you this motor car is
03:40 You know for the size of it now that you can just flip through the traffic me bother
03:46 Do you think there is a feeling that this might be the last Australian to air
03:52 You just can't see that. I mean I would have said that
03:55 Ten years ago. I would have said the world doesn't a chance for me. Have I got you know, I'm too old
04:00 You just don't know the way things turn out. I mean, there's a new album coming out in March
04:07 but linked with the new Iron Man movie and
04:09 Which has a beautiful Rolls-Royce in it. I don't know if you noticed that the Phantom
04:15 Yeah, and that's why that's what I said. I'm gonna get one of them. But you know those things
04:20 Are just in the lap of the gods, I suppose
04:23 The sensible side of me says, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, it could take another couple three years
04:30 You'll be 65, you know, do you think you can do it? I can't I think I can
04:36 You know, they'll have to stop when I fall off the stage and I think when we come parties is already done
04:43 girl Stevie out a wrist with a fellow and
04:46 And I guess that's the time to see
04:49 Well, this is Luna Park and as you can see it's absolutely fantastic
04:58 Why I love it is the fact that all the rides are really old-fashioned
05:02 You got the ghost train the wall side a big big dip. Look at the old the old wheel there
05:08 They got coconut shies. They got all the old stuff that's disappeared and I think it's brilliant. You see they hang on to things here
05:16 Large run away. We don't have a permit. Come on
05:19 Are we being illegal again
05:25 It starts yeah, I kind of talk they are being boot up you see and that's another good
05:31 It's another thing about here. The security is exactly the same as it was 30 years ago
05:36 Never mind we saw the outside of it guys. That was good. I miss me candy floss and a soggy bun. I
05:45 Mean how cool is that?
05:49 You know where we're in the car driving down here I've got to tell you a story about highway to hell everybody asks about highway
05:57 to hell the whole you know that
05:59 The moral majority in America. I always thought it was about the devil. And of course, it wasn't at all. It was about
06:04 the road to Perth, you know across the desert and the boys had an old tour bus and the early days and
06:13 It took forever to get there and the Sun was always in your eyes and it was always, you know, really hot and
06:20 That's where Bon came up with the words for highway to hell. That's what he called the highway to hell
06:26 So it's a little bit of Australian history there for you
06:29 Yes, a DC history chopped in and now for the big plug for my book rockers and rollers
06:35 What I wrote
06:38 Brian Johnson, that's me and
06:40 as you can tell if you see the cover is a Rolls-Royce on there and a fascination came from
06:46 When I was a young kid that living in Dunstan and the village the only time you ever saw one
06:51 Was when somebody got married or somebody died?
06:55 And a lot of the old fellas and the pubs used to say it's my turn for a
06:59 Raid in a Rolls-Royce soon and that meant they were gonna die soon, which I thought was pretty sad, but
07:03 That's why I always wanted one I wanted to get him one before I died
07:08 So here I am in Sydney having a drive in a roller and I love it
07:13 Somebody once said to me, you know Brian you remember in
07:18 1975 and went to a party and you met that girl or whatever not gonna I cannot remember
07:24 And a guy said, you know, you had the blue mini and suddenly everything came back
07:28 It was I remembered the mini and I remembered the party and that's how it all came about just scribblings
07:34 I wrote it in longhand in between
07:37 When we're recording the black ice album. Oh
07:40 Look top gear have been here look
07:44 People ask us how I got on top. Yeah, I mean, you know
07:52 what it was was the boys were fans of the band and
07:55 Andy the producer
07:58 For one of our guys to get some tickets for the gig at the O2 and the boys came and we're talking
08:04 And he literally just asked me then and there he just said would you fancy coming on top? Yeah, I said
08:09 Midas said that I'd kill to get on there. I said I just it's me favorite show
08:14 And I got in the car and stick was brilliant and it just all came back and it was such a
08:22 Thrill to let loose, you know, honestly, I'm telling you Jeremy Clarkson came over and said listen
08:27 Just enjoy yourself and I did it and I had a ball and to get the fastest man of 2009 award. It was just
08:34 Was you know, just a snow the cake for me. I loved it. I'll go back anytime
08:39 Bondi Beach, there you go
08:42 You know the last time I was here was in 1974 when I was with Jordi
08:48 Now we're coming into Bondi. No guys down the hill. I remember this lake was yesterday. Look at it
08:53 You see it there look through there and I said there's gonna be thousands of people there and once again, I'm gonna be proven
09:00 majestically wrong
09:02 Because it's a bit of a great day here
09:04 Look at that Bondi Beach
09:07 You point me in the right direction lads and I'll take you there
09:17 Now let's just see will it turn on a Tanner will it will it will it will it will it will it will it will it
09:23 Will it well, I'll be a son of a bitch. It has look at that. Is that brilliant or what?
09:28 Well, it's nice to see Bondi hasn't changed one tiny little bit in the last 30 years
09:41 I hope you've enjoyed the trip around Sydney with us about a lot of fun, especially with this lovely motorcard. Yeah
09:47 The next journey is going to be in England and I hope you come and join us then
09:51 But I got a shorter do tonight and I got a fly. See you doodle pips. Was that brilliant or what?
09:57 - Good lunch. (laughs)
