00:00 (upbeat music)
00:02 - Good morning guys, it's time to check on the weather
00:04 that's making news this week.
00:05 And this first story really is nuts.
00:08 Has your car been getting pelted with acorns lately?
00:11 Have you found yourself running through a hailstorm
00:13 of walnuts with your hands protecting your head?
00:16 If so, then chances are the trees in your region
00:19 are experiencing what's known as a mast year.
00:22 Nut bearing trees like black walnuts
00:24 and those acorn producing oaks have on and off years,
00:28 on years called mast years,
00:30 see vigorous production of nuts.
00:32 After a mast year, the trees take a break
00:34 for a year or two, producing little if any nuts.
00:37 Our next story brings us to India,
00:39 where this time it's not flooding that's the problem,
00:41 it's poor air quality.
00:43 New Delhi was smothered by toxic smog this weekend,
00:46 primarily blamed by stubble burning
00:48 by farmers in the neighboring agrarian states.
00:51 Stubble burning is the practice of setting fire
00:53 to the straw stubble that remains
00:55 after grains have been harvested.
00:57 The Indian capital once again ranked
00:59 as the world's most polluted city on Sunday.
01:02 And finally, we take a trip to the Lone Star State
01:04 and a very happy elephant.
01:06 Meet Brazos, a two year old elephant at the Fort Worth Zoo.
01:09 Brazos is one of only four Asian elephants
01:12 to be born at the zoo in the last 112 year history.
01:15 And the zookeepers are pretty sure
01:17 this is the first one to be caught dancing in the rain.
01:21 Okay guys, you know the expression,
01:22 dance like nobody's watching.
01:24 Now personally, I've tried that and it did not go well.
01:27 I ended with people laughing at me,
01:28 asking what are you doing?
01:29 I'm like, I'm dancing, like nobody's watching.
01:32 Now that I see this video,
01:33 I think maybe I should have been an elephant.
01:35 - Maybe, but you know what?
01:37 I think they were laughing with Kevin.
01:39 - You know what I would be a bear?
01:40 You know what I would be if I would be an animal?
01:42 - What's that? - A bear.
01:43 - Why? - To hibernate in the winter.
01:45 - That sounds amazing. - Doesn't it sound amazing?
01:47 - Look, when you wake up at 3 a.m.
01:48 and nap at any time, it sounds great.
01:50 - It does. - That's awesome.
