00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:08 Back in the days gone by of 2018, Tessa Blanchard was one of the most sought after talents in
00:13 the wrestling world. After her run in Impact Wrestling, it seemed only a matter of time
00:16 before she was brought into WWE, and the sky was seemingly the limit for her. Then there
00:21 was a bunch of allegations about her which saw many people and promotions not want to
00:24 work with her. Blanchard also married Triple A wrestler Darga, but the two divorced in
00:28 January this year, and now Konnan revealed that Blanchard is not welcome back in Triple
00:33 A on his Keeping It 100 podcast. "She was very disrespectful. She was like, 'Oh, the
00:37 only reason I'm in f***ing Mexico is because of Darga.' It would be very uncomfortable
00:41 after the way they got separated that she'd be in the same dressing room with him, and
00:44 then I don't want to put him in that situation. They were married, she hooked up with some
00:47 other guy and he found out, like one of the boys."
00:50 Meanwhile, stardom has had a hell of a week, hasn't it? There's WWE potentially looking
00:54 at signing one of their top stars, more on that in a bit, another of them signed a deal
00:58 with a new Joji promotion, more on that later too, and another of their top stars being
01:01 rumoured to leave for months now, and now there appears to be some tension brewing elsewhere
01:06 too. Megan Bane has been wrestling in stardom since July, but as reported by Fightful Select,
01:10 it turns out she's been signed to AEW this whole time. Fightful reported that Bane had
01:15 been sent to stardom on an excursion to hone her skills more, but this is where stardom
01:19 refute that. In a since-deleted tweet, stardom tweeted that no wrestler has ever been sent
01:23 by AEW to come to stardom. Not once. Which, while just merely stating the fact that Bane
01:28 was not "sent to stardom", it seems a little heated, right?
01:32 Sean Ross Sapp then clarified that stardom were refuting that Bane was "sent by AEW"
01:37 because it's not an "excursion" in the classic use of the word. However, they maintain
01:40 that Bane has been signed by AEW for months, and got approval from AEW before travelling
01:45 to Japan. Stardom also sent another since-deleted tweet saying, "I'm the person that negotiated
01:50 with Megan every step of the way, leading to her coming to Japan. I've been involved
01:54 with bringing a large majority of Stardom's foreign talent for 8 years now, it's my
01:57 job." Which again, feels a little heated, right? But how much heat is there here really?
02:03 I'm no heat expert, so it's time to hand it over to WrestleTalk's weather reporter
02:06 Helen Temperature to give us the rundown. How's it looking out there Helen?
02:09 "It's three today. Three. You know what they say, good things come in threes."
02:15 Are you sure that's the phrase?
02:17 "Yep, just like how small things come in small packages."
02:20 Is that a wrestling reference?
02:21 "What's wrestling?"
02:22 Ok. Thank you, Helen.
02:25 As mentioned previously, WWE are also looking to sign a top Stardom star...dom soon in the
02:30 form of Julia, the current New Japan Strong Women's Champ according to PWInsider. The
02:35 talks are reportedly so far along that she's expected to be at the WWE Performance Center
02:39 later this month. However, according to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Forum, Julia
02:43 is signed to Stardom until March, and couldn't go to the PC without Bushi Rhodes' approval,
02:48 as well as her schedule being solidly booked through January.
02:51 On top of all this, it had been rumoured that WWE were interested in re-signing Sarray to
02:55 the promotion as well, before it was revealed yesterday that Sarray had actually signed
02:58 a multi-year deal with new American Joshi promotion Sukiban, based in New York. According
03:03 to Fightful, WWE sources hadn't approached her or offered her anything, it was just a
03:07 name that had been floated out as a potential one, so there was no ill will about her decision.
03:11 There's more news on WrestleTalk.com today as well so make sure to check it all out now.
03:15 Over to Luke.
03:16 Thank you as always, but now it's time for my review of Monday Night Raw - aka the War
03:23 Games edition of Monday Night Raw - in about 5 minutes.
03:27 The show opened with a wonderful change of pace. Seth Rollins came out for a promo. He
03:31 recapped the happenings at Crown Jewel where Sami Zayn stole the Money in the Bank briefcase
03:36 from Damian Priest. Seth called out Sami who obliged, but without the briefcase because
03:41 it turns out he just gave it back to Adam Pearce. Alright then. Sami said that he stopped
03:48 Priest because if Priest won the World Heavyweight Championship, there's a chance that Judgment
03:52 Day will become Bloodline 2.0. And Seth announced as a thank you that he'd spoken with Pearce
03:58 to get Sami a shot at the title. Which Sami accepted for tonight. A very good opening
04:03 segment this was. Sami is a really special talent. Judgment Day then beat New Day in
04:07 a good little tag match to further that tag division rebuild - more on that in a bit - and
04:12 it was announced later that they'll defend the tag titles next week against Cody Rhodes
04:16 and Jey Uso. Drew McIntyre came to work but then got all pouty and went home. And Shinsuke
04:20 Nakamura beat Akira Tozawa - with Tozawa getting Halloween one week late by cosplaying as Black
04:26 Rain from TNA. Goldust WWE return confirmed. Otis got in the ring after the match, and
04:31 it was announced later that those two will face off next week.
04:34 We got a video promo for Natalya, and Adam Pearce did a video promo of his own hyping
04:38 up the four men in the number one contenders match to Gunther's IC title. This was a
04:43 cool way of building interest into the match and building all four dudes up, and it led
04:48 to a very fun four way between The Miz, Bronson Reed, Ricochet and Ivar. The best stuff was
04:53 The Big Dudes beating up The Little Dude in Ricochet, and the crowd was super into Miz's
04:57 babyface comeback. The finish was also really cool, as Reed and Ivar both climbed to their
05:02 respective top ropes to hit their respective top rope moves.
05:06 Then it got a little clunky. The idea here is that Reed would miss his move and Miz would
05:12 pin him, while at the same time Ivar would hit his move and he would pin Ricochet. The
05:16 ref counted three but hesitated because both men were pinning at the same time, which gave
05:21 Ricochet enough time to kick out, and Miz scored the win. It left a rather confused
05:27 crowd who just wanted to cheer The Miz winning, and a commentary team scrambling to try and
05:32 explain what just happened. I think, in fairness, this was a good idea in principle, I just
05:38 don't think the execution was particularly good. Ivar attacked Miz after the match, and
05:43 it was later announced they'll face off next week. A good match and say will you will
05:46 about The Miz, and I've said a lot, there is no denying the man was over like Rover.
05:51 We got a video promo for the Creed Brothers and a recap of them and Ivy Nile signing their
05:55 Raw contracts earlier in the day, and then they beat DIY in a fun tag match where Kaisa
05:59 interfered on Gargano for the finish. Becky Lynch cut a promo and was interrupted by Nia
06:03 Jax and the two made jokes about Nia botching and getting fired. They also had Chelsea Green
06:09 and Piper Niven do some comedy with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, all to set up the
06:13 idea that the following Battle Royal was every woman for themselves. And what a fun little
06:17 Battle Royal it was. They told a few stories in all of this, which is what all good Battle
06:21 Royals should do. First off, Xia Li attacked Becky Lynch before the match and got herself
06:26 DQ'd, but also took Lynch out of the match. A good way to protect Becky in this match,
06:31 her rear match is clearly being saved for Mania, and it put over Lee's spin kick as
06:34 that's now two women she's knocked out in as many weeks. Did make Lee look a little
06:38 bit sick though because she eliminated herself from a match where she could have won a title
06:42 shot. They also put over Ivy Nile hard, as she made it to the final four of the match
06:47 before being eliminated by an already eliminated Nia Jax. She also got quite a few eliminations
06:52 herself. And thirdly, it put over Zoey Stark who won the whole match, last eliminating
06:57 tag partner Baszler. Stark is a fine match for Ripley at Survivor Series, but I think
07:02 she would have been a better choice if she wasn't just in a title match with Ripley
07:05 two days ago where she lost. The final few minutes with Stark and Baszler were very good.
07:11 And the main event saw Sami Zayn challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship.
07:15 On a recent three count, Oli Davis' three words to describe Seth Rollins were "always
07:20 rooting against". And I agree with him. I was more into the idea of AJ Styles winning
07:26 the belt, I was more into the idea of Finn Balor winning the belt, I was more into Drew
07:30 McIntyre winning at Crown Jewel. Something about this Seth run just isn't connecting
07:34 with me personally, and I can't quite put my finger on why. But I once again found myself
07:39 wanting to see the guy Rollins was facing win the belt from him. Seth has got real Triple
07:44 H in 2004 vibes at Mountain. But this was a good match as you would expect, and Seth
07:49 got the win with a surprise roll up, putting over the idea that he survived this World
07:53 Title defence rather than convincingly defending it.
07:56 And then it all happened. And by all happened, I mean the same thing that's been happening
08:01 for a few months now. Judgment Day ran out for a brawl, Jey Uso ran out for the brawl,
08:05 Cody Rhodes ran out for the brawl, Adam Pearce came out and said "War Games". I told
08:10 you this was going to be a long two months to get here, and bloody hell it has been.
08:15 But look, we're here now. We're here now and we've got War Games. I imagine Kevin
08:19 Owens and Jimmy Uso will get added to the match to make it 5 on 5.
08:22 This was a really good, cracking edition of Monday Night Raw with a fabulous World Title
08:27 match, a good Battle Royal, fun tank action and a fatal four way that, clunky finish aside,
08:32 was very entertaining. This week's show is a high 4 out of 5.
08:36 The semifinals of Fantasy Booking Warfare kick off this week with myself vs. Oliver
08:40 Davis where I'm going to crush him. So find out who is making it to the other side of
08:44 the semifinal bracket as Laurie Blake and Pete Quinnell book Logan Paul as WWE Champion.
