Movie guide: The latest releases from the biggest streaming platforms

  • last year
Welcome back to our weekly movie guide - this time with a twist! Usually we cover everything out in the cinemas but this week, we're turning our attention to some of the biggest streaming platforms. Enjoy these three film picks from the comfort of your sofa, or your bed, no judgement here. Starting with a new one from Netflix.

Well rated and with a great cast to boot. Netflix's Nyad stars Jodie Foster and Annette Bening in a riveting retelling of a chapter in the life of world-class athlete Diana Nyad. Documenting the journey of the 64-year-old marathon swimmer as she attempts to become the first person ever to swim from Cuba to Florida, it's got 87% approval on rotten tomatoes so far.

Next - The Burial on Amazon Prime Video features Tommy Lee Jones and Jamie Foxx as an unconventional lawyer and a funeral home director with financial troubles. This drama slash thriller is loosely based on a true story and has received positive critical response, being dubbed 'a crowd-pleasing treat at every turn'

And last but not least, Halloween may be over but that doesn't mean saying goodbye to the season of spook. If you fancy something ghoulish but still suitable kids and adults alike, Disney+ has Haunted Mansion on offer in which a woman and her son enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.
