Indigenous Structure Sparks Building Code Debate in Southeast Taiwan

Traditional thatch and bamboo structures built by some of Taiwan's Indigenous peoples are not permitted under the country's building codes. As a result, one built by the Indigenous Pinuyumayan community in southeastern Taitung has found itself at the center of a debate.
