00:00 My love is like a flame, red, fierce and hard to tame
00:09 So the new album Double Vision is out as of this month
00:14 and what struck me when listening to the album was that
00:17 so Double Vision, but it really does complement some of the themes in the album
00:21 like the duality of emotions that's in play
00:25 Can you tell me a little bit more about the themes that are running through this album?
00:28 Yeah, so this album is kind of a journey through almost like a break up
00:34 so you have the beginning of the journey where there's denial of the situation
00:39 and anger and sadness, but then when you come out the other end
00:42 there's the joy and the self discovery and then the friendship at the end
00:48 so you have the good and the bad and yeah, hopefully it takes people on a bit of a journey
00:53 You're used to grey England skies, cloudy days, colder nights
01:01 and your heart's not right
01:04 How is it when you're just starting out and just one of those songs just becomes a hit?
01:10 Yeah, I mean for me anyway, I don't really feel like there was that much pressure
01:17 I mean we were getting lots of messages and we'd come and play in France for the first time
01:22 and didn't think anybody knew any of the songs
01:25 and would come out and they'd be singing England Skies all the way through
01:28 and I was like wow, this is weird but cool
01:30 but actually I was living in Wales or London at the time
01:34 so while this song was kind of exploding a little bit in France
01:38 we weren't here for it, so we didn't really experience it
01:41 so people were like "why are the songs doing so well, it's so big"
01:44 and I'm like "oh really?"
01:45 So in a way it's a bit sad that we missed a bit of it
01:48 but then also I guess we don't have that pressure weighing on us that much
01:53 that "oh it needs to be as good as the last song"
01:56 which for me I think is better because I don't think the pressure really helps
02:01 With regards to AI with music, where do you stand?
02:08 For me, I'm not a fan
02:11 I mean I think it's amazing what technology can do
02:15 but for me, art, music, the reason that it makes it special
02:19 is because it's got a human touch
02:22 it's a personal story, it's somebody's emotions
02:25 and no matter how incredible technology can be
02:28 I don't think you can get that from AI
02:31 And lastly, so what is on your playlist at the moment?
02:35 If you had to pick a few artists
02:37 When I listen to somebody I get really obsessed
02:40 and I will just listen to them for like two years going
02:43 I'm still going strong with Gregory Porter
02:47 Hosea's new album, I'm a big fan
02:50 and I've just discovered Say She She
02:53 They're three girls, well not girls, they're women
02:55 from America, I think it's two Americans and one British girl
02:59 and they're kind of like chic-esque
03:02 and yeah, they're my new obsession that I'm on
03:06 Good to know, check them out
03:09 Oh, oh, oh, oh
03:12 [APPLAUSE]
