Emily Poulliard's journey through sound took her from an early fascination with behind-the-scenes movie magic, to short films in college, to the set of @fnafmovie. As the Sound Utility, Emily takes pride not only in her work but also in changing the landscape of a male-dominated field. We’re soundly impressed and ready to check out Emily’s work in #FiveNightsAtFreddys now in theaters and streaming on @Peacock! #MakeItUniversal#FNAFmovie

00:00 Mic check.
00:01 Check, check, check.
00:02 Hey, hey, hey.
00:03 Hi, my name is Emily.
00:04 I'm the sound utility, and this is my story.
00:07 When I was younger, I would watch behind the scenes footage
00:13 and think, oh, the crew is so cool.
00:15 Like, everyone's having such a great time.
00:17 But I had no idea that I could ever be doing
00:20 something like that.
00:21 - That's all, please.
00:22 - In college, I was working on short films,
00:25 and everybody needed a sound person.
00:28 - Roll sound.
00:29 - So I kept working on short films,
00:31 and I was like, maybe I can turn this into a career.
00:33 - Action.
00:34 - Garrett!
00:36 I also interned at a sound rental shop.
00:39 That's where I learned all the gear.
00:42 The first thing I do when I get here
00:43 is I get my sound card ready,
00:46 and then it's time for a marking rehearsal,
00:49 which is when we watch the actors do their blocking.
00:52 So I need to watch closely and be planning in my head
00:55 how I'm gonna wire them.
00:57 The most exciting days for me working in sound
01:01 are when we have music playback.
01:04 - And playback.
01:05 - I feel very proud to be able to say
01:10 that I work consistently in sound.
01:12 I think that being a woman in sound is very important.
01:17 It's definitely a male-dominated industry.
01:20 So this will definitely be a time in my life
01:23 that I look back on and I'm very proud of.
