00:00 Just want to underscore to everybody the nature of what we're dealing with at the moment.
00:06 We have variable fire dangers across the state.
00:10 As my colleague from QFES has just said, we have a slight easing in fire pressures at
00:16 the moment in the southeast.
00:17 The expectation is that that won't remain.
00:20 We urge people to remain vigilant.
00:22 We still have many local governed areas with total fire bans.
00:25 We would urge people to be very careful with anything they do that may create an ignition
00:30 or a sparge out.
00:32 What we have to do as a community is get people out of harm's way, out of the way of the fire.
00:37 Most of these you can't just put out.
00:39 You can mitigate them, you can slow them down, eventually get on top of them, but we try
00:44 to get people out of harm's way and then we try to protect structures.
00:48 The issue that you face is when you have so many fires and the fires are going so quickly,
00:54 we focus on the people and the structures, unfortunately, while you lose them and we
00:59 try not to, they are something that we can ultimately replace.
01:02 Our primary focus is the protection of life.
01:05 But you raise a very good point and any message that we can get through you guys to let people
01:10 know now, if people are watching this right now and they haven't cleaned their gutters
01:14 out and they haven't got an emergency plan and a fire safety plan, the time to do that
01:19 is now.
01:20 It's not when you see the smoke on the horizon or you think there might be a fire in your
01:24 area.
