Transcript
00:00 - Okay, we, everyone right to go?
00:05 - Just about, alright.
00:06 - Firstly, on my right, we've got Rowena Black,
00:10 Secretary of Coral Rutherglen Football Club.
00:12 On her right is Jason Marks,
00:14 Board Member at Coral Rutherglen,
00:15 and on my left is Graeme Basinger,
00:18 President of the Coral Rutherglen Football Club.
00:20 So I just wanted to read a short statement,
00:24 then I'll hand over to Graeme,
00:26 who'll read the statement also,
00:29 and from then we'll, we're happy to take any questions.
00:32 So it's a fantastic day
00:35 for the Alvins and Murray Football League.
00:37 The SSNA Alvins and Murray Football League
00:40 are extremely pleased to announce
00:42 that the Coral Rutherglen Football Club
00:44 have advised the league
00:46 that they will be returning to competition in 2024.
00:49 Whilst there is much, still much work to be done,
00:52 we thank and congratulate their President, Graeme Basinger,
00:55 Secretary Rowena Black, and Coach Steve Owen
00:58 for the work they've done across the last 12 months
01:00 to get the club into a position
01:02 where this formal announcement can be made today.
01:05 We are also thrilled with the recent appointment
01:08 of Sophie Henrahan as A grade and under 17 coach,
01:11 which gives us great assurance
01:13 that there is nobody better suited
01:15 to bring the Roosnetball program back to a high standard
01:19 in a very short time.
01:20 The league has appreciated the support
01:23 afforded to Coral Rutherglen
01:25 from the other nine member clubs,
01:27 and the understanding shown
01:28 in what has been a difficult 12 months
01:31 for each club to navigate.
01:32 The league will push forward
01:34 and construct a draw around a 10-team competition
01:37 that will do away with the cumbersome buy each round.
01:40 And I'll now hand over to Graeme
01:43 to make a short statement as well.
01:46 - Thank you, David.
01:47 - Just one second, guys.
01:49 - We'll just move that microphone.
01:51 - Can you move mine too while you're up there, Matt?
01:55 - Yeah, yeah.
01:56 Do you guys need yours, Matt?
01:57 - Yeah, my bad, my bad.
01:57 - Thanks, Steve.
01:59 - Thanks, Matt.
02:00 - Doing the Lord's work, Matt.
02:02 - All good.
02:03 - Thanks, Steve, for leaving all the mics.
02:05 - It's quality stuff from me.
02:07 - Really good.
02:09 - Thank you all for being here.
02:10 And yeah, last February,
02:13 I informed the Arms of Murray
02:17 that the Coral Rutherglen Football Club
02:20 would not field senior football
02:22 and netball teams for the 2023 season.
02:26 We were able to field three netball sides,
02:29 and I thank those girls
02:31 who kept the Coral Rutherglen name going.
02:34 I would now like to formally confirm
02:38 the Coral Rutherglen Football Netball Club
02:41 will return to the Arms of Murray
02:42 league in football and in netball in 2024.
02:48 This has been a journey none of us thought we would be on,
02:55 but I want to thank my board,
02:57 Steve Owen and his football department
03:00 for getting Coral Rutherglen Football Netball Club
03:03 into a position that we can return
03:06 to the Arms of Murray in 2024.
03:08 It will be a different year
03:10 with our club rooms being condemned
03:16 and not being able to be used,
03:17 but we have change rooms,
03:20 which I thank the Federation of Shire Council
03:23 for arranging.
03:25 So I say to all the Coral people,
03:29 get behind us for season 2024
03:32 and go Roos in 2024.
