00:03 Donnie, a line that seemed peculiar
00:04 to both of us earlier in the day.
00:07 The Cavaliers, the fourth seed
00:09 in the Eastern Conference last year,
00:11 with the third best price
00:12 to win the Eastern Conference crown this year.
00:15 So higher expectations in the land
00:18 were only a one point favorite on the road in Brooklyn
00:21 to open up the year against a new look Nets team.
00:24 No Kevin Durant anymore, of course,
00:26 no Kyrie Irving like was the case to start off last year.
00:29 It was Cam Thomas and Mikhail Bridges
00:32 and Ben Simmons in the re-emergence.
00:34 Why was it only a one point spread
00:35 even with the Cavaliers on the road?
00:38 Well, we found out why.
00:39 The Cavs come back from down six
00:41 in the final minute and a half of regulation.
00:44 Donovan Mitchell, a step back three,
00:47 gives the Cavs the lead and eventually the win.
00:50 But the line closed at a point and a half
00:53 in favor of Cleveland.
00:54 So the hook giveth and it taketh, Donnie,
00:57 even in the opening week of this NBA season.
01:00 Cleveland does start out a perfect one and O straight up.
01:03 I said Cavs money line and you got it, minus 116.
01:08 114, 113, the win for Cleveland last night in Barclays.
01:13 - A lot of teams were struggling
01:15 with the three point shot last night here.
01:16 And that's, you know, to be understanding
01:18 here early in the season.
01:19 I have a Max Drews last night,
01:20 seven of 13 from three point range.
01:22 And also Donovan Mitchell and Max Drews,
01:24 both combined, or excuse me, 27 points a piece,
01:27 which was a very good performance.
01:28 But come on, man, all eyes on the prize yesterday.
01:30 I sent out a tweet early in the day,
01:32 I wanna use my profit boost here,
01:33 hand it out on Ben Simmons.
01:35 And I say to myself, you know what?
01:37 Nobody's going points here.
01:38 We're not buying down points at seven and a half.
01:40 We know he doesn't wanna shoot the basketball.
01:41 He didn't get to the free throw line
01:43 or shoot a three point shot,
01:44 but you know what he did?
01:45 He's a distributor.
01:46 He can have a clear path layup
01:48 and he'd rather kick it out for a three point shot.
01:50 Use that, people, to your advantage.
01:52 As he goes yesterday, just about getting a double double,
01:54 not with points, but with rebounds and assists here.
01:57 Those are the angles to attack for Ben Simmons.
01:59 This is how bad he is.
02:00 Can you imagine this, like growing up, man?
02:03 Everybody goes out, you're third grade,
02:04 fourth grade, or fifth grade.
02:05 Can you imagine going to the basketball court,
02:08 down the street from your house and going like,
02:09 man, I don't even wanna shoot.
02:11 I just wanna dribble and pass to my friends
02:12 to get their looks up here.
02:13 Everybody starts with taking 15 three point shots
02:16 themselves from third grade on.
02:18 It's amazing that he does not want to do that.
02:20 What player doesn't wanna shoot the basketball
02:22 in the NBA?
02:23 It's insane.
02:25 - Ben Simmons, he had four points last night.
02:27 He was under his points prop of seven and a half,
02:30 but well over both his rebounding number,
02:32 six and a half, and assists at six and a half.
02:35 He had 10 boards and nine dives.
02:38 Mikael Bridges leads the way for the Brooklyn Nets
02:41 in that starting rotation.
02:42 He had 20, but it's the camp.
02:44 Thomas experienced 36 points off the bench,
02:48 13 of 21 from the floor.
02:50 He was lighting it up for the Nets in that second half
02:53 to only clink off the iron,
02:56 what would have been the game winning three.
02:58 It wasn't necessarily the cleanest look for Brooklyn.
03:02 And Donnie, on the other side,
03:03 the Cleveland Cavaliers had all five starters
03:06 score in double figures,
03:07 led by Spida and Max Struce,
03:10 a new member of this Cavaliers team, 27 points a piece.
03:14 Struce, of course, the former Miami Heat player,
03:16 seven threes last night in his Cleveland debut.
03:19 If my producers, Joe Frizzo or John Shames,
03:23 a couple of NBA guys could let me know in my ear,
03:26 is Jarrett Allen no longer in Cleveland?
03:29 That was part of my handicap last night.
03:31 Okay, he is.
03:32 He just didn't play in the opening game.
03:34 That is very, very good to know.
03:35 Thank you, NBA guys behind the scenes.
