00:00 One month after their successful campaign in the 19th Asian Games, Filipino athletes
00:04 took the spotlight in a well-deserved celebration in honor of the country's modern-day heroes.
00:10 All 33 medalists were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports, led
00:14 by gold medalists Meggie Ochoa and Annie Ramirez of Jiu-Jitsu, Paul Volter, EJ Abiena, and
00:18 of course the men's basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, which ended the country's 61-year
00:22 gold medal drought in the competition.
00:24 No less than President Bongbong Marcos led the celebration, which was also attended by
00:28 students from various schools in Metro Manila.
00:31 The president thanked the medalists and close to 400 athletes who represented the flag and
00:34 brought pride to the country.
00:36 In his message, the president said the medals are a testament that Filipino athletes are
00:40 world-class and the government is here to continue supporting them in more international
00:44 events.
00:45 "We did not expect this.
00:46 We will receive so many medals.
00:47 But more than just a personal feat, your victory has boosted our people's morale.
00:57 You brought joy to the Philippines.
01:01 We have many things to face, sometimes it is sad.
01:06 But because of your work, the whole Philippines is smiling when you came back from the 19th

01:16 Each of the medalists also received a presidential citation and hefty cash incentives.

01:45 I want to do business, but I'll make sure that it won't interfere with my future preparation.
01:54 I want to teach boxing to the provinces, to the Philippines, to the whole Philippines.
02:01 I want to continue their dream.
02:04 This is their opportunity.
02:06 We will do our best.
02:08 We are here to support them."
