00:00 to scuttle this process. He got at first 30 some odd people and then 40 some odd
00:05 people to vote for him and the McCarthy objective was to block any other
00:09 candidate from being able to assume the speakership and after a while that
00:13 became evident. McCarthy scuttled Scalise, he ultimately scuttled Jordan, he
00:18 ultimately scuttled Emmer and at the end of the day the universal appeal of Mike
00:24 Johnson was too strong for him to oppose. Hours ago Congressman Molinaro of New
00:29 York stood up and made a unanimous consent request after Mr. Emmer had
00:33 pulled out for us at that exact moment to take a roll call vote on Mike Johnson
00:38 and guess which member of Congress objected to that unanimous consent
00:41 request? Kevin McCarthy because he hadn't figured out a way to sabotage Mike
00:46 Johnson. Mike is the right guy, he's an inspirational leader, I'm so excited to
00:51 go elect him Speaker of the House. Can you talk a little bit more about why you
00:53 think Johnson is the right fit for the job? Yeah he is really an oversight
00:58 bulldog. I've been sitting next to Mike Johnson for seven years on the House
01:01 Judiciary Committee. We are no longer going to have the log jam for subpoenas
01:06 and for oversight and for the rigorous work that that our call demands. Also as
01:11 the Republican Study Committee chairman he was a real fiscal hawk and he showed
01:15 how to put downward pressure on spending and unlike even other candidates who I
01:19 enthusiastically supported, Mike Johnson wants to move away from governing by
01:23 continuing resolution and he wants to have spending bills that address single
01:27 issues. I don't think we're gonna you know you heard a lot of the speaker
01:32 designate's discussion about Israel and his remarks but you didn't hear this
01:36 obsession to follow the Biden administration lashing Israel to Ukraine
01:41 and forcing our goodwill toward Israel to carry the political anchor that is
01:48 Ukraine funding at this time in the House Republican caucus. So those would
01:51 be some of the things initially that are giving us a lot of hope. Great thanks guys.
01:55 Did he mention in the room anything about you know during his
01:59 candidate pitch anything about how he's gonna handle spending or Ukraine?
02:02 Yeah, yeah. In his campaign for House Speaker Mike Johnson indicated that he
02:08 wanted to move the appropriations bills rather than try to govern long-term
02:13 through continuing resolution. Other candidates favored long-term continuing
02:17 resolutions. Mike Johnson wants the very single subject bills I've been fighting
02:20 for. So he did discuss that.

02:28 The immediate need to move Israel aid but he did not express a necessity of
02:33 lashing that Israel aid to Ukraine.
