Emergency warnings for Tara, Kogan, Millmerran Downs
Three emergency warnings are in place for bushfires in south-east Queensland with residents in some areas being told to leave immediately. The warnings affect those in a number of areas around Tara, Wieambilla, Cypress Gardens and Millmerran Downs.

00:00 So here on the Gore Highway just outside of Milmerran, the Gore Highway here is still
00:06 closed.
00:07 The fire in the background there is at Cypress Gardens and Milmerran Woods where about 1500
00:14 hectares has been burnt.
00:17 That area is still not safe to return to.
00:19 Police and fire and rescue personnel are currently on the scene there assessing the damage and
00:24 assessing whether residents from that area can return to their homes.
00:28 The aircraft are actually on scene helping to contain the fires but as you can appreciate
00:32 with the windy conditions today spot fires are advancing probably 200 metres in front
00:36 of the fire itself.
00:38 Community messaging is really key for us and that's why we rely on community messaging.
00:41 The messaging lets the community know what they need to do and what plan they need to
00:44 put in place and when they need to put it.
00:46 There is a number of watch and acts out at the moment just so the community knows what's
00:49 happening and some of those relocations are currently happening.
00:52 We're expecting that the hot dry weather is going to continue into the weekend and we'll
00:56 see the crews currently work on the fires to try and contain the fires.
01:00 We also know that at Tara and Wianbilla and Cogan there is currently a leave immediately
01:06 warning in that area for quite a ferocious blazes are burning out there as well.
01:12 It's very hot here.
01:14 Residents here are very worried that if the wind changes this afternoon we might see this
01:20 blaze here at Milmerran return as well.
01:23 So firefighters are out there currently doing containment lines and trying to contain that
01:30 fire there as much as possible.
