00:00 The National Capital woke up to poor air quality on Monday.
00:14 Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) deteriorated on Sunday evening and stood at 306 on Monday.
00:22 The Meteorological Department cited unfavorable weather conditions for very poor air quality
00:27 in the city.
00:28 On Sunday, the capital's 24-hour average AQI stood at 313, down from 248 on Saturday.
00:36 Almost all areas in and around Delhi recorded very poor air quality on Sunday.
00:41 According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Faridabad reported an AQI of 322, Ghaziabad
00:47 246, Greater Noida 354, Gurugram 255 and Noida 304.
00:54 The Indian Meteorological Department has stated that the air quality in Delhi NCR region will
00:58 remain very poor for the next few days due to a drop in temperature and the influx of
01:02 emissions from stubble burning.
01:04 IMD also stated that due to scant rainfall in October and slow wind speed, the air quality
01:10 has further worsened the situation.
01:12 Visuals of stubble getting burned in a field in Haryana's Karnal has surfaced amid the
01:16 deteriorating AQI.
01:17 A total of 48 cases of stubble burning have been reported in the state till date this
01:23 season.
01:24 The state's agricultural department has also imposed a fine of Rs 53,000 on farmers who
01:28 were found burning the stubble.
01:30 Earlier, in line with the commitment to combat stubble burning, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar
01:34 Lal Khattar on Monday had said that there is no reason to burn stubble but if people
01:39 still don't understand, we will be strict with them.
01:42 To curb the alarming environmental situation in the capital, Delhi Government Minister
01:46 Gopal Rai called a meeting with the concerned department over the implementation of measures
01:50 under the central government's pollution control plan on Monday.
01:53 On October 21, the Delhi government organised a 'Run Against Pollution' programme as
01:57 part of a public awareness campaign against pollution.
02:00 The run event was taken out from the Delhi Secretariat and ended at the Raj Ghat.
02:04 Meanwhile, the Commission for Air Quality Management sub-committee has invoked the 11-point
02:08 action plan as per stage 2 of the graded response action plan in the National Capital Region
02:13 due to depleting air quality.
02:15 Under graded response action plan 2 restrictions, there will be a ban on the use of coal and
02:19 wood fired stoves, the frequency of CNG and electric buses will be increased, regular
02:24 cleaning of roads and the sprinkling of water will be done, the traffic police will ensure
02:27 there are no traffic jams to curb the pollution.
02:31 Pollution levels have been increasing in Delhi for the past 10-12 days.
02:36 Today, I really felt it in my eyes.
02:39 There is a lot of smoke.
02:42 If you look around, there is a lot of smoke.
02:45 I think this is quite usual in Delhi, but I think the situation is not good at all.
02:50 Every year we see the same situation.
02:52 This year also, the same situation is coming.
02:54 Diwali is coming and pollution is increasing.
02:56 During the festival, the cold starts to come and the pollution starts to increase.
03:01 It does not feel comfortable.
03:03 It still feels the same.
03:05 If there is oxygen, then this place is here and if there is no oxygen, then that place is there.
03:09 We have to make the oxygen inside.
03:11 Life is not easy.
03:13 You have to burn passion in the day and no matter what the weather is, you have to ride a cycle every day.
03:20 This is our inner ambition.
03:26 We have taken a target of 100-day cycling tour.
03:30 I am at number 2nd to 4th in my age group.
03:36 I am a senior citizen.
03:38 And whatever the weather is, you have to ride in the sun, in the morning.
03:43 And if there is no place here, then you have to ride in the fields.
03:46 There are open roads. Mr. Gadgiri has made so many roads, open roads.
03:51 Ride on the highway.
03:53 I am not feeling any such problem.
03:56 I have been riding a cycle since 2021 and I have crossed 26,000.
04:01 My every day, every year target is 10,000 km.
04:05 And in 10,000, I have crossed 8,000 so far.
04:10 And I have ridden 12-13,000 km every 20 days.
04:14 It's not about the weather. It's about your body's lung capacity.
04:19 How do you manage that lung capacity?
04:22 You have to do a little bit of Kapalbhati.
04:26 Where it is like this, you have to wear a mask.
04:29 And after wearing a mask, you can do Kapalbhati while riding a cycle.
04:36 You should have clear air passage.
04:41 The body has that power, the body has that immunity, which the body will fight.
04:46 Right now, we are feeling a little pollution.
04:49 Because we ride daily, we get to know the weather.
04:53 As Diwali season approaches, it happens a little.
04:57 It is also visible to us that there is so much fog in the cold that the pollution is visible.
05:02 And that is very difficult.
