00:00 Welcome back to Fantasy Booking Warfare!
00:04 Last week saw Oli Davis and a bloated Bobby Lashley take down Sat-I-Nyangi
00:09 in the battle of the best booked Hurt Business reunion,
00:13 and advance to the semi-final of our tournament to crown the least terrible Booker of Fantasy Wrestling.
00:19 Now, along with our highly qualified panel of judges,
00:22 we will learn who will join Oli in the next round
00:25 as Luke Owen and Dan Layton book the retirement of Triple H.
00:30 I'm Dave Bradshaw, and for the past 15 years,
00:33 I've been a play-by-play commentator in British and European wrestling.
00:36 Off the top, missile, dropkick!
00:38 Can he get it? Yes, he can!
00:40 He's the champion of the world!
00:42 I am the master of the half-crab,
00:44 the current reigning undisputed British heavyweight champion, Michael Oku,
00:48 and who better to tell you how bad things are booked than me?
00:52 [MUSIC]
00:57 I'm Nina Samuels, star of The Nina Samuels Show and here on WrestleTalk,
01:00 because of course, WrestleTalk needs more Nina.
01:03 [MUSIC]
01:09 Today on Fantasy Booking Warfare, the scenario is Triple H's retirement.
01:14 Okay.
01:15 And two wannabe bookers are going to tell us how they would do it.
01:18 First up is Dan Layton.
01:20 Ready. Let's go.
01:21 What Dan would have done.
01:22 Our story begins the night after WrestleMania 39,
01:25 where Triple H comes out to address the WWE Universe,
01:28 tell us that everything's fine,
01:29 and to congratulate the still WWE champ, Roman Reigns,
01:33 as he's heading back up the entrance ramp,
01:34 Roman's on his way down, they shake hands,
01:36 and Triple H whispers something in his ear.
01:38 Congratulations, perhaps, or something else.
01:41 Later that night, Brock Lesnar turns on Cody Rhodes and leaves him laying in the ring.
01:45 Now, this feud plays out pretty much as it did on TV,
01:47 with one small exception.
01:48 Lesnar explicitly states that the reason he picked a fight with Cody Rhodes at all
01:53 is for a big healthy paycheck.
01:55 It's not personal.
01:57 It's just good business.
01:58 Which leads us to now, having finally slayed the Beast,
02:00 Cody Rhodes turns his attention once again to finishing the story.
02:04 He negotiates a move over to SmackDown and sets his sights on Roman Reigns.
02:08 He cuts a fire promo about how everyone in the world knows that that match was his,
02:13 even and especially the Tribal Chief.
02:16 But lately, he's been looking more like a chief without a tribe.
02:18 So, it's time to do the right thing and give Cody his rematch.
02:22 Out comes Paul Heyman, who says, "Sorry, Cody,
02:24 Roman's not taking bookings right now, and you actually already punched your ticket.
02:28 So, you need to head to the back of the line.
02:30 And, oh, just by the way, for you and everyone else in the world,
02:33 here's a reminder of what actually happened at WrestleMania."
02:36 And he points over Cody's shoulder.
02:38 Cody turns around.
02:40 Bam! Into a Samoan spike.
02:42 Incensed, Cody Rhodes seeks out Adam Pearce and insists on a match with Solo that very evening.
02:47 "But Solo's already been sent home," says Adam.
02:49 "That's fine," says Cody. "Get on the phone and make Roman Reigns come to work."
02:53 "Cody," says Adam, "even I don't have that kind of authority, but I tell you what.
02:57 I will give you a match with Solo Sokoa at Fastlane."
03:00 And over the next few weeks, the tension between Solo and Cody builds so much
03:03 that we get to a no-holds-barred match at Fastlane.
03:07 It is an absolute brutal brawl, and Cody comes out on top.
03:11 The next week, Cody actually puts Solo over.
03:13 He says that if anyone had any doubts,
03:15 there is proof positive that Solo has all that it takes to usurp his cousin as the head of the table.
03:21 And speaking as one younger brother to another,
03:23 he knows that waiting in line for your opportunity is just about the worst thing that you can do.
03:29 And speaking of, he's tired of waiting, and so is the WWE Universe.
03:32 They want to see him get what is rightfully his,
03:35 but once again, he is interrupted, this time by Bobby Lashley, flanked by the Street Profits.
03:40 "Hey now, Cody, a lot of us have been waiting a long time to get our hands on that gold," says Bobby.
03:44 "And you might remember that I actually didn't lose that belt.
03:47 "In fact, between the two of us, you're the only one whose shoulders have been on the mat for three."
03:51 "But you know me, Cody, I'm a guy who respects the hustle.
03:53 "So how about you and me do some good business together?
03:56 "How about in Saudi Arabia, it's you versus me, and whoever wins gets to be front of the line?"
04:02 He extends his hand, Cody goes to take it, but as he does, yank!
04:07 Lashley grabs him and puts him in the hurt lock.
04:09 Officials come down to try and break things up, but the Street Profits are there to take them all out,
04:13 and Bobby wraps his legs around Cody's waist to squeeze there as well,
04:18 absolutely, I guess just squeezing the life straight out of Cody Rhodes, who passes out in the middle of the ring.
04:23 They have scuffles over the next few weeks, and it all builds to the number one contender's submission match at Crown Jewel.
04:29 Now, Cody is not known for his submission manoeuvres, and he's already passed out of the hurt lock,
04:33 so the question is, how will he overcome the Almighty?
04:36 It's another absolute brawl, and this time, Cody focuses in on Bobby's arm,
04:40 ostensibly to stop him having the power to actually lock in the hurt lock properly, and it does work.
04:45 At one point, Bobby catches Cody by surprise and tries to put him in the hurt lock,
04:49 but his arm just isn't powerful enough to get underneath Cody's arm,
04:52 so Cody's able to break free, push Bobby back into the turnbuckle, into that bad arm,
04:57 and it's on the recoil that Cody pounces and locks in the Kimura Lock.
05:02 Brock Lesnar's Kimura Lock is what makes Bobby Lashley tap out and give Cody the win.
05:07 We're back on SmackDown, out comes Cody, mic in hand, no more excuses, Roman.
05:10 In two weeks' time, we're gonna be at Survivor Series in a town very close to my heart.
05:16 So why don't you stop being a little pussy and get your ass in the ring and fight me in Chicago?
05:21 Probably a little bit less like camp, but I can only be me, you know?
05:25 He slams the mic down and starts pacing back and forth, and the music hits, and out comes Triple H.
05:32 Cody, Roman's not here tonight. Massive boos around the arena.
05:37 But, massive cheers around the arena.
05:39 You've really proven yourself to me. I'm proud of you, kid. You get your match at Survivor Series.
05:44 So let's fast travel a couple of weeks to Survivor Series.
05:46 It's Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes in Chicago, Illinois.
05:49 It's a straight singles match, no gimmicks, just the two top stars in the company, one-on-one,
05:54 for the richest prize in the game. It's all come down to this.
05:58 It has a big fight feel, and Chicago is the third man.
06:01 Every time Roman gets the upper hand, the boos rain on down.
06:04 Whenever Cody mounts a comeback, those cheers light up and blow the roof off the place.
06:09 Cody cutter, disaster kick. At one point, he manages to hit a heat seeker for a Roman 2.9 kickout,
06:16 and the crowd comes unglued.
06:18 But as Roman manages to mount a comeback of his own, he cues up the spear, only for Cody to move,
06:23 and Roman crashes right through the ref, who lands in the corner of the ring.
06:27 Cody's a fighter, so he goes right back to work, but Roman throws him off and manages to land a Superman punch.
06:33 Sensing danger, he goes over and motions to Solo to grab a chair.
06:36 Solo goes to the timekeeper's area to do just that, but he's stopped by Triple H,
06:42 who grabs the chair off Solo, drops it on the floor, and orders Solo to leave the arena.
06:47 A furious Solo does walk out of the arena, and Triple H turns around to tend to the ref,
06:52 who is currently lying prone in the corner of the ring, and Roman is incensed,
06:55 and starts screaming, angrily yelling down at him.
06:58 At one point, though, he does turn around into a picture-perfect disaster kick from Cody Rhodes.
07:04 Now is his time. Cody grabs Roman and hits the crossroads.
07:07 He picks him up again and hits a second.
07:09 As he finally twists and lands a third crossroads, he hauls Roman's body over,
07:15 and covers just in time for a second ref to slide into the ring and count the three.
07:20 The bell rings. The crowd goes wild. Kingdom rings all around the arena.
07:26 Here is your winner, and the new WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
07:33 Cody goes to reach for the belt to get his hands on it,
07:36 finally, what he's been waiting for all these years.
07:39 There's just one problem. Outside the ring, the two refs are having a bit of a disagreement.
07:44 Cody slips to the outside, but Triple H is there pulling his grave face, you know the one,
07:48 and he nods, and on that cue, the ring announcer says,
07:53 "Ladies and gentlemen, the registered official has informed me that this match ended in disqualification."
07:58 As a result, the winner of the match, Cody Rhodes.
08:01 But still, your WWE Champion, Roman Reigns.
08:06 That's right, bitch. It's a dusty finish.
08:08 When Cody realizes what's happened, he grabs Solo's chair and heads back into the ring
08:11 and starts absolutely crashing it down on Roman.
08:14 Eight months of frustration just come pouring out of him in the form of chair shots.
08:18 Solo comes back in the ring to try and save Roman, but Cody just starts battering him as well.
08:22 Eventually, Roman and Solo finally manage to make it clear of the ring,
08:26 and Cody feels a hand on his shoulder. He turns around, lifts the chair, and sees Triple H.
08:31 Hunter holds his hands up and tells him to stop.
08:33 Cody lowers the chair, but looks in Triple H's face and says,
08:38 "I had him. I had him. You saw it. We all saw it. I did it. I did it."
08:43 Triple H says, "I know, but it's over."
08:46 Utterly defeated, Cody turns around and goes to leave the ring,
08:50 but he's pulled back around again and nailed with a pedigree.
08:53 On that Monday's Raw, Triple H comes out to tell the arena
08:57 that Cody Rhodes has been suspended for his actions for 60 days without pay.
09:01 But actually, Triple H is kind of glad that it happened
09:03 because it explains why he's had to undergo the course of action he has over the past eight months.
09:07 You see, Cody Rhodes is undeniable, but he's also unreliable.
09:12 Cody has a short fuse, and we can't have somebody like that leading and being the figurehead of this company.
09:18 And that's why Triple H has been doing what's best for business.
09:21 Best for business was paying Brock Lesnar to take Cody Rhodes out.
09:25 Best for business was paying Bobby Lashley to tear his peck all over again.
09:29 And when neither of those managed to get the job done,
09:31 best for business became Triple H taking matters into his own hands.
09:35 And he points up to the screen, and we see a still photo from the night before
09:40 where he's ordering the ref to call for a disqualification.
09:44 So, Cody, he says, "Enjoy this rest. Use it as a time to reflect.
09:49 See if you can figure out how to be a cog in this machine,
09:52 because if you can't be a company guy, well, I'm gonna have two words for you.
09:56 You're fired."
09:57 60 Days takes us to the Royal Rumble, where, entering at lucky number 27,
10:02 comes the American Nightmare to a thunderous ovation.
10:05 He makes it to the final two, where, standing opposite him, is a certain Ring General.
10:08 They had a redo of last year, only this time, it's Gunther that gets the win,
10:12 and he will go on to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship.
10:15 On SmackDown, out comes Cody, back to cut a promo to explain that he has had a lot of time to think,
10:20 and he's realized that he can be a company guy.
10:23 He's ready to be the person that leads the WWE.
10:27 He's noticed that, since Gunther is going after the World Heavyweight Championship,
10:30 Roman doesn't have an opponent for WrestleMania,
10:32 so he asks Triple H to come out and give him that third and final chance.
10:36 Hunter says, "I'm glad you've seen the light and you want to be a company guy.
10:39 I just need to know that I can trust you.
10:41 I already have a man in mind for Roman at WrestleMania, but I tell you what,
10:45 if you can beat every guy I put in front of you over the next couple of weeks,
10:48 and then you manage to get the win over my guy at Elimination Chamber, we'll see."
10:53 And Cody does just that against Finn Balor, against Kevin Owens,
10:57 and just about manages to put away Sami Zayn.
11:01 It's Elimination Chamber. It's the night.
11:03 Cody's waiting in the ring. The music hits.
11:05 "I hear voices in my head." Out comes Randy Orton.
11:09 "I'm running over time, so just trust me. The match is really good and Cody wins."
11:12 Triple H comes out, all smiles, gives the thumbs up,
11:15 which becomes the thumbs down, and he nails Cody with another pedigree.
11:19 On Raw this time, Cody hijacks the show, pacing the ring with a chair in one hand
11:23 and a microphone in the other, demanding that Triple H comes out.
11:26 Hunter obliges, comes out, and he says, "Cody, I'm here. What do you want to talk about?"
11:30 Well, Cody stares him dead in the eye and says, "I want my match at Mania."
11:34 Triple H laughs and says, "You just can't do that. You see, here's that temper all over again.
11:38 Clearly, you've learned nothing in, at this point, about a decade."
11:42 Listen, when Roman Reigns leaves for his sabbaticals, he's not holding the company for ransom.
11:46 No, he's just going for a little rest on his island of relevancy,
11:49 which he's earned as a champion for as long as he's been champion.
11:53 As a 14-time world champion myself, I know the pressure that comes with it.
11:56 Cody, on the other hand, Cody can't hack it,
11:59 and it's that short fuse that's led him to pick up his ball and leave a company twice.
12:04 How can Triple H trust that that won't happen all over again?
12:07 He says, "It's one thing to dream about becoming a champion.
12:10 It's a whole other ballgame to actually live as a champion,
12:14 and Cody just can't handle the pressure."
12:17 "You want to talk to me about pressure?" says Cody.
12:19 "Well, I didn't leave to escape pressure. I left WWE to find it.
12:24 You see, Hunter, we're not so different. We both love this business.
12:27 This business is our everything, but I have one thing you never had.
12:32 Faith in myself.
12:33 My faith led me to strike out on my own and revolutionise this whole industry
12:37 because I wouldn't take no for an answer.
12:40 Meanwhile, your insecurity has led you to betray every friend you've ever had
12:44 and marry your way to power.
12:46 Look me in the eyes because you know deep down you could never have done what I did.
12:51 You don't have the balls.
12:52 You go around telling everybody you're that damn good,
12:55 but you don't even believe it yourself."
12:57 Cody takes a second and looks down.
12:59 "I believed it once.
13:01 In fact, I always looked up to you, but you've shown me who you really are.
13:04 I used to think there was nothing in this world I wanted more than the WWE Championship,
13:08 but it turns out I was wrong because the match I want at WrestleMania is you.
13:12 One-on-one, Cody Rhodes versus Triple H, and I'll even sweeten the deal for you.
13:16 If I don't manage to win, you can put your own guy in as the number one contender,
13:21 and I'll pick up my ball one more time and walk away,
13:24 and you'll never have to deal with the Cody Rhodes problem.
13:27 But if I win, I get to challenge for the WWE Championship the very next night
13:31 in the main event of WrestleMania Sunday, and you have to retire.
13:35 So come on, Hunter, put your money where your mouth is.
13:36 Prove I am who you say I am.
13:39 Have some faith in yourself for once in your goddamn life."
13:43 Triple H is sweating with rage, a little bit like myself.
13:46 He's taken off his jacket, he's rolled up his sleeves, and he charges down to the ring.
13:49 He gets right in Cody's face, and he says, "You're on."
13:53 And then they hockey fight, and it's sick.
13:55 And that brings us to WrestleMania night one.
13:57 Gunther is main eventing to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
14:00 Incidentally, someone needs to put some credence on that belt.
14:02 And so that means this match is going on first, and it's a battle for the ages.
14:06 Cody Rhodes, undesirable to undeniable against the Game, Triple H,
14:11 and it's everything you would want it to be.
14:13 It's Dusty versus Ric Flair, but with decades of new experience added in.
14:17 They've hit each other with everything.
14:18 They've traded figure four leg locks.
14:20 Hunter has kicked out of a heat seeker.
14:22 Cody's kicked out of a pedigree from the top rope, maybe a little bit too far.
14:25 I think go for it, it's WrestleMania.
14:27 And in the meantime, it's crucial to know this, Hunter is bleeding.
14:31 As he walks around the ring, as he hits knee strikes, as he goes for his classic offense,
14:35 he's looking shaky on his feet.
14:37 The King of Kings is weathered.
14:39 Ducking a high knee strike, Cody turns around and manages to get Hunter in a reverse face lock,
14:43 and hits the crossroads for the cover, and Hunter kicks out.
14:48 The pair of them are exhausted.
14:49 Both men make it back to opposing corners,
14:51 and have to use the ropes to climb their way back up to their feet,
14:56 and meet once again in the middle of the ring.
14:58 Cody reaches under his arm, and wipes Triple H's blood across his chest.
15:03 Hunter stares in his eyes, raises his hands, and crotch chops,
15:08 just leaving enough space for Cody Rhodes to kick him in the midsection,
15:11 hook his arms, and hit him with a pedigree for the one, two, three.
15:17 As Cody gets to his feet and has his hand raised in the air,
15:20 he looks down to see Triple H has made his way to sit in the corner,
15:24 and is staring back at him through that crimson mask.
15:27 He looks over, and he says, "I'm sorry. I love you."
15:32 And the next night, he goes on and wins the WWE Championship, and everything's fine.
15:36 - That was quite an emotional rollercoaster. - Wow.
15:38 Overall, I feel pretty positive about this.
15:40 As things were playing out, there was lots of attention to detail,
15:43 where I was like, "Oh, okay."
15:44 I was surprised. Some bits I could see coming, but some bits were left field a good way.
15:49 I think overall, I feel pretty good about this one.
15:51 Yeah, I think there were moments where I was like, "Mmm, you haven't addressed this.
15:54 You haven't addressed this." And then he addresses it.
15:56 He found a way, which is tough, to create the two stories of two matches
16:00 that the fan would want to see of Cody vs. Triple H, as well as Cody vs. Roman.
16:03 I mean, there are obvious mirrors here with WrestleMania 30 with Daniel Bryan.
16:08 The other thing for me is,
16:10 Gunther wins the Royal Rumble and doesn't challenge Roman Reigns.
16:14 - 100%. - That's not the Gunther that I know.
16:17 And I cannot see how he would possibly not pick Roman Reigns.
16:21 Exactly. The whole thing is quite derivative.
16:25 Like, basically, that whole thing at Survivor Series, where Cody—
16:28 I mean, I like the dusty finish part and all that kind of stuff.
16:31 It's copying the homework, hoping that enough time's gone past,
16:33 people have forgotten the original homework.
16:35 - And wrestling fans don't forget. - They don't.
16:36 Even up to WrestleMania, because, like, as we said, it was, you know,
16:40 Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan, and then gets through to the final, you know.
16:45 - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - And it's basically the same thing.
16:47 I don't know how much we can buy into being that Cody Rhodes is not a company guy.
16:52 - I mean, to me, from what I see, - Right.
16:54 - Right. - he is very much—he's like the epitome of the company guy.
16:58 Is this Cody Rhodes story more than it's Triple H's?
17:02 - Yeah, 100% it is. - Yes.
17:04 Right? Imagine if they did do it that way.
17:05 - "Oh, it's all about Triple H again." - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:07 - So maybe that's a response. - Or maybe he'd love that.
17:09 - Yeah. - Maybe he would.
17:10 Maybe just one last title, right?
17:11 We've heard Cody be really, like, to tears about people
17:15 kind of looking at Dusty as a father figure.
17:17 I think there could have been something more to play there
17:19 if they wanted to go for conflict.
17:20 - So pretty good, but we've managed to— - Yeah, pretty good, but we definitely found some—
17:24 We found some flaws, but it was a solid effort, I think, which means that—
17:28 Very well delivered as well. I was very invested.
17:30 Luke Owen has a lot to live up to,
17:32 - so what we're going to do now is have a look. - Yeah.
17:35 And see how Luke's booked this.
17:36 Okay, so for my booking to work, we need to ignore that Triple H retired
17:41 because otherwise I can't have him wrestle, and I need him to do that for my story to work.
17:46 But some of our story is the same as to what happened IRL.
17:50 Triple H unveils the new World Heavyweight Championship,
17:52 and Seth Rollins wins the tournament to become the first champ.
17:56 But when Triple H hands him the belt at Night of Champions,
17:59 Seth waffles him with it and turns heel in the process.
18:03 He hits him again with the belt and gives him a pedigree and a stomp onto it twice.
18:09 Triple H is stretched out of the building.
18:12 The following night on Raw, Seth explained that in his mind,
18:15 Triple H shouldn't have done a tournament.
18:18 He should have just handed Seth the belt like he handed himself the same title in 2004.
18:24 He should have handed him the title just like he should have handed him
18:27 the Universal Championship in 2017.
18:31 Have we all forgotten what happened in that match?
18:35 Seth rolls that clip of Triple H giving him the pedigree on the outside of the ring,
18:39 which handed Kevin Owens the win so he could become the new Universal Champion.
18:45 This brings out Seth Rollins' first challenger for the belt,
18:47 a returning Johnny Gargano, who Seth beat at Money in the Bank.
18:51 And that brings us to where we were in real life.
18:54 Finn Balor is Seth's next challenger for the belt at SummerSlam,
18:57 but only this time Judgment Day are the babyfaces in our story.
19:01 But there's still that dissension in their ranks.
19:03 At SummerSlam, Seth Rollins beats Finn by hooking the tights.
19:06 The following night on Raw, Adam Pearce orders a rematch,
19:09 and Seth beats him again by hooking the tights.
19:13 Damian Priest announces that he's cashing in his Money in the Bank contract,
19:16 and Seth tries to sneak win by hooking the tights.
19:18 But out comes Cody Rhodes, who looks like he has all the intentions
19:23 of stopping this hooking the tights nonsense until he hits a recovering Balor with a chair
19:28 and hits Priest as well.
19:30 Seth wins, and a new alliance is formed.
19:33 The following week, Cody explained that Seth is a true visionary,
19:37 because he saw something that he hadn't really noticed because he's been so focused on Brock Lesnar.
19:42 He came back to WWE because he wanted to win the WWE Championship,
19:47 the belt this company took away from his father,
19:50 and now they've discontinued that belt.
19:53 Which means they've taken it from his father,
19:55 and now they've taken it away from Cody Rhodes too.
19:58 At Payback, it's Seth and Cody vs. Balor and Priest,
20:01 which the baddies win when a mysterious stranger in a motorcycle helmet attacks Balor,
20:06 giving him a spear.
20:08 Cody pins Balor, and the motorcycle helmet is removed
20:11 to find that the third head of this Hydra is Edge.
20:15 At Fastlane, it's a trios match of Cody, Edge, and Seth taking on the Judgment Day,
20:19 and the stipulation is, if Judgment Day cannot beat this group,
20:23 they will have to disband forever.
20:25 And it's looking like Priest has the match won when he's hit Seth with the Razor's Edge,
20:29 but a shotgun dropkick from Finn Balor, followed by a coup de grâce,
20:33 gives our bad guys yet another win.
20:35 The Judgment Day, betrayed by their own Finn Balor, must now break up.
20:40 Dom and Rigo are in separate ways, and Priest is gussied.
20:42 On the following Raw, Balor explains that he only did what he did
20:45 because Priest was planning the same thing.
20:47 Did you notice how Priest wasn't stopping Seth from cheating in his title matches?
20:52 And that's because Priest wanted to win the title for himself.
20:55 But now Balor, he's got true friends, true visionaries,
20:59 who can see that wrestling needs saving, just like a visionary group did 30 years ago.
21:05 Cody says that his father spent years trying to get rid of them,
21:08 but even he saw that if you can't beat them, you need to join them.
21:11 You can call us the New World Order of Professional Wrestling, brother.
21:16 The following week, Damien Priest interrupts a promo from the NWO,
21:20 who says that he wants a match to show this group aren't as clever or as big as they think they are.
21:25 Rollins, laughing, tells him that Priest is a few teammates short there.
21:31 Priest says that Seth is right, but it was their words about great factions last week
21:35 that made him pick up the phone and make a call to a guy
21:38 who knows a thing or two about dominating factions in wrestling.
21:42 Triple H makes his return, coming back from being injured by Seth in June,
21:46 who reminds us all of his track record with groups.
21:49 He created D-Generation X, who changed the landscape of this company.
21:53 They even took the fight straight to WCW and scared Cody's dad.
21:58 Seth may have been the architect of the Shield, but it was Triple H pulling the strings behind the scenes.
22:03 He even created the ultimate faction called NXT that shook up the main roster of WWE.
22:10 But there was one other faction that dominated this brand for years.
22:15 Batista's music hits and out comes Big Dave, but he does not walk alone.
22:19 Ric Flair's music walks and The Nature Boy struts out once more.
22:22 And finally, I hear voices in my head as Randy Orton comes down.
22:27 The Viper returns to WWE for the first time since May 2022.
22:31 And Evolution stand tall once again.
22:35 While stunned, the NWO accept the challenge for Survivor Series in a traditional four-on-four match.
22:41 Evolution with their newest member Damian Priest versus the NWO of Cody, Seth, Edge and Balor.
22:48 Triple H thinks this is a good idea, but he's got a better one.
22:52 And really there's only one man and two words who can do this unideared justice.
22:58 And out walks William Regal, who bellows, "WARGAMES!"
23:02 At Survivor Series, it's Evolution that stand tall over the NWO.
23:06 And this gives all the momentum for Damian Priest to win the Royal Rumble and beat Seth Rollins for the world title at WrestleMania.
23:14 On that same show, Triple H takes on Cody Rhodes with an entrance where Cody recreates the Double or Nothing Throne Smash.
23:20 And, you know, Trips wins of course.
23:22 And Orton and Batista take on Edge and Balor for the tag titles earlier in the night.
23:26 The whole of WrestleMania is built around Evolution versus the NWO.
23:31 Seth, furious about losing the title, blames Triple H for his loss and now vows to destroy his career.
23:38 And he's going to use the full strength of the NWO to do this.
23:41 And if you think this group is just four guys, then you don't know your history very well.
23:47 The following week, the group, complete with a new mystery man, all attack Batista as he's entering the building and send him to the hospital.
23:54 It's Backlash 2024 and it's once again coming to you from Puerto Rico.
23:59 Seth Rollins defeats Triple H with the help of that mystery man.
24:02 And in the main event, Damian Priest defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Cody Rhodes.
24:07 Priest has the match won with the Razor's Edge, but a mystery man gets in the ring.
24:12 That mystery man and squares up to Damian Priest.
24:15 Damian goes to give him a clothesline, but the man ducks and hits an RKO.
24:22 Cody Rhodes wins and the mystery man is revealed to be Randy Orton who has turned his back on Evolution.
24:28 Despite help from Triple H and Flair, the NWO send Damian Priest to the hospital in front of his family.
24:35 On Raw, Cody holds aloft the World Heavyweight Championship, but puts it in the trash.
24:40 He tells the crowd this belt doesn't mean anything.
24:42 It was made as a consolation prize for losers who couldn't beat Roman Reigns.
24:46 But I, I could have beaten Roman Reigns.
24:49 And I would have beaten Roman Reigns if I'd have had the help of the NWO nullifying the interference from the Bloodline.
24:56 And when I would have won, I would have done this.
24:58 And from a bag, pulls out the Winged Eagle Championship belt design and declares himself the WWE Champion.
25:05 And spray paints the NWO logo over it.
25:09 Orton explains that Triple H talked a lot about groups that dominated Raw, but he forgot that without him, there wouldn't be an Evolution.
25:16 And besides, Triple H turned his back on Orton the first chance he got so he could play up to his favorite Batista.
25:23 Not only that, when he was listing off dominating factions, he forgot about Legacy.
25:27 And he hugs Cody Rhodes.
25:28 And he forgot about Rated RKO.
25:31 And he hugs Edge.
25:32 Now, with no Evolution, there is no one that can stop the NWO.
25:37 Triple H comes out and says that he didn't forget about Legacy, and he didn't forget about RKO, and he also forgot that he's beaten them before.
25:44 And he can do it again, with a little help from some friends.
25:48 Break it down!
25:49 [SINGS]
25:52 Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg and X-Pac come out and D-Generation X rides once more.
25:57 Minus Billy Gunn, of course.
25:59 This sets up an eight-man tag for Money in the Bank of D-Generation X, Triple H, HBK, X-Pac and Road Dogg, taking on the NWO team of Edge, Balor, Cody and Orton.
26:09 NWO pick up the win when they injure the Road Dogg Jesse James.
26:14 NWO brag about this on Raw, but Triple H reminds them that they forgot to study their history books.
26:19 And he picked up the phone to someone who knows all about the NWO.
26:23 In fact, he knows them rather well.
26:25 And out comes Kevin Nash and The Clique ride together once more.
26:30 At SummerSlam, it's another eight-man tag as The Clique of Triple H, HBK, Waltman and Nash take on the NWO, this time represented by Edge, Seth, Balor and Orton.
26:39 And this time, The Clique stands tall.
26:42 Triple H on Raw says that while beating Edge, Seth, Balor and Orton was fun and all, they hold something that he holds quite near and dear to his heart.
26:50 The WWE Championship.
26:52 He talks about what the belt means to him.
26:54 The amount of times that he's held it above his head.
26:56 The amount of times he's seen people crumble under the pressure of holding it.
27:01 He's seen people who have held it for clout, while knowing that it always made him a better man.
27:07 And to see that symbol, that logo of a group made famous in another company, a company he worked so hard to kill, and is being held by a man who ran away to create another company, a company that he worked really hard to try and kill, brings his piss to a boil.
27:25 He challenges Cody Rhodes to a match at Payback 2024.
27:28 One-on-one. No DX. No Clique. No Evolution. No NWO. Just me and you.
27:35 I did that the wrong way around.
27:37 At Payback, Triple H becomes the 15-time world champion, beating Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Championship.
27:45 At Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia, Triple H defends the title against Finn Balor.
27:49 HBK in his corner, Orton in Balor's.
27:52 And as the match is nearing its end, Hunter is distracted by some music playing.
27:57 We walk alone, in red and blue, we're a non-voodoo victory.
28:04 It's the theme of the Nexus, and out walks Wade Barrett wearing the black t-shirt with the yellow rectangle with an N in the middle.
28:12 But this time, the N looks slightly different.
28:14 He's flanked by Bron Breaker, Dijak, Tyler Bate, Wesley and Ilya Dragunov.
28:20 The new Nexus. The NWO Nexus.
28:24 HBK gets in the ring to back up Triple H, but then superkicks his friend in the face.
28:29 Balor covers and wins the WWE Championship. The NWO, now with the NWO Nexus, stand tall.
28:37 Nash comes out to help but gets beaten down. Waltman comes down to help but also gets beaten down.
28:42 Triple H is alone once again.
28:45 NWO Nexus open up that week's episode of NXT.
28:48 Barrett highlights that everyone talks about the good old days of the black and gold brand,
28:52 but no one ever gives these new guys their flowers, just like they didn't with the original Nexus.
28:59 Triple H shows up and says he wants one more War Games match in the home that brought War Games back to the mainstream.
29:07 And he's assembled a team of the best men who have held NXT gold over the years.
29:13 At NXT TakeOver War Games, it's Team Hunter of Damian Priest, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano
29:20 versus the NWO Nexus of Breaker, Dijak, Bate, Lee and Dragunov.
29:26 And the NWO Nexus win.
29:28 And that brings us to Survivor Series 2024. It's a gigantic 16-man tag team elimination match that takes up basically two-thirds of the show.
29:38 It's Team Hunter of Triple H, Damian Priest, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Kevin Nash, Shawn Waltman, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa
29:45 taking on the NWO of Shawn Michaels, Balor, Edge, Orton, Cody, Bate, Rollins and Wade Barrett.
29:51 Rollins pins Triple H in the final two. He's beaten Hunter again and his guys have beaten Hunter's guys.
30:00 Triple H, looking for another shot, asks for a tag match at the Royal Rumble.
30:04 Seth agrees, but only if Triple H doesn't pick anyone he's teamed with over the last year.
30:10 Triple H accepts.
30:12 "Haha" Rollins laughs. "You've exhausted all of your friends, Hunter. Your Rolodex is done."
30:18 Triple H says that Rollins is right, and that's why he's turned to an enemy.
30:23 At the Royal Rumble 2025, it's Seth Rollins and Finn Balor of the NWO taking on Triple H in a Street Fight Tag Match alongside Cactus Jack.
30:33 And the NWO win again.
30:35 Triple H just needs one more match though, and Rollins grants him that rematch with one condition.
30:39 His career must be on the line.
30:42 At WrestleMania, inside Hell in a Cell, Rollins pins Triple H one more time, and the King of Kings must retire.
30:51 Triple H leaves his boots in the ring, and the NWO Nexus run down to attack him, but Rollins pushes them off.
30:56 The rest of the NWO run down and brawl with the Nexus, and that spins off into an NWO vs. Nexus feud through to the summer.
31:04 Triple H's retirement match puts over about 16, nearly 20 people, and gives you the storyline for the rest of the year.
31:15 Surely it's what he wants. Plus, it's a perfect Triple H booking storyline, because he got to team with all of his friends, he won a bunch, he won the world title.
31:22 And he got to do a WarGames match, so I think that's everything he'd want to do, really.
31:26 What did we just watch?
31:30 That was a lot.
31:34 That was a lot. What is the NWO Nexus?
31:38 The NWO Nexus. The NWO...
31:40 You're on, Michael.
31:42 Oh my gosh.
31:44 I need to lie down. I'm going to start with some positives.
31:46 So, I like the fact that it revisits, involves various different factions from Triple H's history.
31:58 Kind of.
32:00 You know, like the involvement of Evolution, then the involvement to DX, so there's some positives.
32:06 I think that sucked.
32:08 I've got to admit, every time I heard him say the NWO, I couldn't picture the NWO.
32:16 The famous NWO, obviously with Cody Rhodes and Edge.
32:20 Cody Rhodes and Edge, but I was struggling to picture that.
32:24 It's so determined to give fan service, that it's almost ticking off different faction names, regardless of whether there's any...
32:34 Fan service, there's no logic.
32:36 There's fan...
32:38 "Oh, you remember NWO? Oh, you remember Nexus? How about NWO Nexus? Here's the Winged Eagle. You like this belt, we did a little survey."
32:46 Everything is just like a big old member berry pie of just nonsense that doesn't make sense.
32:52 And then, you can't have the NWO.
32:56 And the NWO is wrestling The Click, which The Click is the NWO, because that's who is the NWO, is Kevin Nash.
33:03 And most of these guys, I guess we're living in a fantasy world where they can wrestle, I suppose.
33:09 Yeah, that was one of my concerns. A concern that involves a lot around, with all due respect, the old timers getting in the ring. A lot.
33:22 Yeah, it's like, I mean, it lasts two years.
33:25 Up to 2025!
33:27 Two war games.
33:29 Yeah, Triple H becomes a full-time member of the roster, it feels like.
33:33 16 men to my Zodiac.
33:35 There's an NWO where none of the members have any connection to the NWO.
33:39 It required three people to turn heel?
33:42 So you've got Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and Edge all turning.
33:47 Yes, to form the NWO.
33:50 To form a faction that they have no history of being a part of.
33:53 Well, you know, Dusty Rhodes was in the NWO once, I think.
33:56 So we have questions.
33:58 I don't even know if I have questions.
33:59 Luke's got work to do here. I think that's reasonable to say.
34:02 It sounds like he's got some talking to do to talk you into it, Michael.
34:05 And we've got an emphasis on the fantasy with Fantasy Booking.
34:08 Oh my God.
34:09 So should we bring them in?
34:10 Yes, I would love to.
34:11 I'm sure we have questions for both.
34:13 Yes, I would love to discuss it.
34:15 Alright, Dan and Luke have joined us now. Thank you both for taking the time to book this scenario.
34:20 We're going to talk to Dan first because this was the first video that we watched.
34:23 At what point did you decide just to completely rehash SummerSlam 2013?
34:28 Well, quite early on because I decided it was going to be Triple H's greatest hits the whole way through.
34:33 So it's not just a rehash of 2013.
34:35 You've got Montrealers in there.
34:37 You've got, you've got...
34:39 How many times has Montreal been rehashed?
34:41 This is it. You join in.
34:42 Sorry, what?
34:43 Don't you join in.
34:44 I'm just agreeing with the great judges here that Montreal has been rehashed quite a few times.
34:49 No, it has many times, but once more on the way out can't hurt anybody.
34:53 The award itself, it was a pastiche and homage. It was pointing to, it was a reference thereof.
35:00 You've shoehorned Cody Rhodes into that role.
35:04 Yeah.
35:05 Even though he doesn't really fit into it.
35:07 White meat baby face. Kids love him. Adults love him. Everyone loves him.
35:12 And you know about this angst streak. To me, he's quite well controlled.
35:16 So my...
35:17 I'm going to destroy you.
35:20 I'm going to destroy you. Oh my God. What's wrong with me? I'm so nervous.
35:23 Cody has been held back and held back and held back and held back.
35:27 And even back to the old days, I put in a line about being a cog in the machine.
35:31 He's been pushed back and pushed back and pushed back and pushed back so many times
35:34 that he's just kind of snapped and lost it a little bit.
35:36 We've all had that moment where we break.
35:38 It's a dusty finish. It's personal at that point.
35:41 That was a nice touch.
35:42 We were definitely taking on an emotional roller coaster for sure.
35:45 We had a couple of questions about the later stages.
35:49 Explain to me why Gunther is not choosing Roman Reigns.
35:55 Why would Gunther's character?
35:58 Longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in history.
36:01 It was an NXT UK champion for over a thousand days.
36:04 Probably the same with the progress I assume. He probably had a long reign.
36:08 Atlas. Why would he not think to go and look, oh, that long Roman Reigns reign.
36:13 I'm going to be the one to end that.
36:15 That's such a good point.
36:17 I fully take that point.
36:19 It's on his brand of raw.
36:22 That belt is there. That's the one that he should go for.
36:24 My voice just cracked a little bit.
36:26 It's because I haven't had water in a long time and I suddenly got very dry.
36:28 The reason for someone to do it would be because there's some kind of emotional charging there.
36:32 Which Gunther's not emotionally charged.
36:34 That's true. However, I don't think that belt has any.
36:38 Currently, it doesn't actually have that emotional charge.
36:41 Not many people who like, other than like.
36:44 With the wrestler who holds it, like someone winning that.
36:47 I've booked myself into a corner and I don't know what to do with that.
36:50 What is the heat seeker?
36:52 It's MJF's finish or signature move.
36:56 So it's a point.
36:58 Yeah, when he's on the ropes.
37:00 Are you aware that that injured my neck for a year?
37:04 I did not know that.
37:05 And that's in the story.
37:06 Okay.
37:07 Make a note of that.
37:09 You know what?
37:10 I'll give you some respite there.
37:12 Okay, let's give you a breather because although there are some logical flaws in what you've been saying here.
37:20 If we're talking about logical flaws.
37:24 Yeah, I'm assuming 10 out of 10.
37:27 No notes.
37:28 Okay, we'll start from the beginning.
37:29 Please do.
37:30 I mean, it's a great place to start.
37:31 Thank you.
37:32 Mr. Bradshaw.
37:33 So it's a wonderful place to start.
37:34 I appreciate your feedback.
37:36 We're starting with a scenario here in this very long storyline, which last a couple of years.
37:41 Two years and requires Triple H to rejoin the roster.
37:44 Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes and Edge will all turn heel.
37:51 Oh, yeah.
37:52 To reform.
37:54 You say reform?
37:55 Reform.
37:56 Yeah, a faction that none of them previously had any connection to in the NWO.
38:03 Cody does.
38:04 Yeah, his dad was in the NWO.
38:05 Remember when I said that?
38:06 Yeah.
38:07 But I was joking.
38:08 I was saying it as a funny ha ha.
38:09 Yeah.
38:10 I know.
38:11 We have a lot to ask you.
38:12 And I look forward to it.
38:13 Just on this beginning section, just talk us through what on earth you were thinking.
38:18 Well, okay.
38:19 So I thought if I'm booking Triple H's retirement, the one thing he's really going to want to
38:24 do is beat the NWO.
38:25 That makes sense.
38:26 I was going to say, who is this for?
38:29 Triple H.
38:30 Okay.
38:31 And the fans will enjoy it because it's a bit of nostalgia.
38:32 The fans.
38:33 The fans will enjoy it.
38:34 Who doesn't love the NWO?
38:35 You'll forgive me if I've forgotten some of the details.
38:38 It's okay.
38:40 There was so many details.
38:42 As this proceeds, we end up with several other factions.
38:46 Oh yeah.
38:47 DX were involved at one point.
38:49 The Click, which is sort of the NWO or DX anyway.
38:52 That's the WWE version.
38:53 Not really.
38:54 Triple H was never in the NWO.
38:55 A version of the Nexus.
38:57 Yeah.
38:58 In which hardly anyone involved with the Nexus.
39:00 Wade Barrett.
39:01 He came with the Nexus.
39:02 Yeah, so he formed a new version of the Nexus with new NXT guys.
39:05 And it was called NWO Nexus.
39:07 NWO Nexus.
39:08 Because they had a big N on their t-shirt.
39:10 And now it's got the NWO version of the N on the t-shirt.
39:13 So you're booking these very t-shirt led.
39:15 I'm business led.
39:16 What's best for business?
39:18 It's what's best for business.
39:19 It's an excellent point, Nina, if you don't mind me saying.
39:23 It's a wonderful point to add to this.
39:26 I can't with this man.
39:27 You've got a lot of something on your nose.
39:28 Some blood brown?
39:29 Yeah.
39:30 It smells delicious.
39:33 Oh my God.
39:35 [Laughter]
39:41 Rose is up in here.
39:42 I can't with you today.
39:44 [Laughter]
39:52 I need someone else to ask a question.
39:55 I did really appreciate Seth Rollins being a part of it.
39:57 Because they've had their on screen feud.
40:00 But as well with Seth being the first ever NXT champion.
40:02 I appreciate that.
40:03 I thought that was a great choice for an opponent to retire him.
40:07 More so than Cody, actually.
40:09 I thought thematically it made so much sense for it to be Rollins.
40:12 Cody never came into my mind at all.
40:13 Because I thought that's a nonsense idea for his final match.
40:17 Yeah, because Cody and Triple H have no shared history.
40:19 They have one WrestleMania match in my story.
40:22 But it's not the end point of it.
40:23 That's the midpoint of phase two.
40:25 And I thought Sean's probably a step too far.
40:27 No, because you wouldn't want to take any of this too far.
40:29 No, Dave.
40:30 [Laughter]
40:32 As you know, I'm a connoisseur of earlier pay-per-views.
40:35 Oh, yeah.
40:36 Due to my advanced years.
40:37 And your excellent wisdom.
40:39 Thank you, Luke.
40:41 The early Survivor Series, if you remember the first couple of them.
40:43 They had five tag teams versus five tag teams.
40:46 From the hard cam view, you literally cannot see into the ring.
40:49 Because there's people everywhere.
40:51 How are you going to allow anyone at home to see anything that's going on.
40:55 In your 16-man tag team match?
40:58 Double ring.
40:59 Michael, I know you have some very strong views on this.
41:01 If you've got any more questions.
41:02 Not just pain.
41:03 Just my head.
41:04 [Laughter]
41:05 On my head.
41:06 I was just like.
41:07 I was watching it and there was a point where I was like, "Is this a rib?"
41:10 But you were saying it with such a straight face.
41:12 You were like, "This is good."
41:14 I thought if you're going to do Triple H's retirement,
41:17 he's probably going to want to do several things.
41:19 Yeah.
41:20 Beat the NWO.
41:21 Win the title.
41:22 Hang out with his mates.
41:23 And I sort of, you know, tick, tick, tick.
41:25 The click beats evolution?
41:27 Yeah.
41:28 No, evolution were on the Triple H's side.
41:30 The NWO.
41:31 If any one of Triple H's teams loses, it's the NWO that beat them.
41:34 It's always against the NWO.
41:35 It's always against the NWO.
41:36 So the NWO keeps losing.
41:37 No, no.
41:38 They win sometimes.
41:39 I think if you look at it, it's probably 50-50 booking.
41:41 [Laughter]
41:42 Do you think there's any remote possibility that by then you might have lost the audience?
41:49 Ask Roman Reigns.
41:50 Ask Roman Reigns?
41:51 Good point.
41:52 Good point.
41:53 I think there's something I'm not seeing or hearing.
41:55 So at this point, you each have, we want you to keep it well under a minute, ideally 30 seconds.
41:59 Just tell us without being interrupted, why we should choose you.
42:03 It's all about the game and how you play it.
42:06 And with all the adrenaline in my soul, I feel that you have the old sort of face, the company,
42:13 the last bastion of the Ashida era.
42:15 Stone Cold got injured and left.
42:17 The Rock went off to Hollywood.
42:18 But Triple H was always there, never wavered, never left away against this new legacy, pun intended,
42:24 of wrestling, of which Triple H venerates.
42:29 The Prodigal Son left, revolutionised the industry, comes back.
42:33 It's a parallel story.
42:34 They're basically the same type of wrestler, but this one for a new generation,
42:37 it's a torch passing to propel Cody into superstardom, I feel.
42:44 It's the greatest hits of Triple H, but right at the end, there's a new hit, which is creating a new star.
42:49 War Games.
42:51 Tag Team Street Fights with Mick Foley.
42:54 Oh my god, I forgot about that!
42:57 Goddamnit, I can't remember what I was like.
43:00 DX reforms, click free forms, the NWO are back, NWO Nexus,
43:05 we're creating loads of new factions, loads of new main roster stars.
43:09 Two and a half years worth of story right there.
43:11 And I really do think there's no holes to be found.
43:16 This is like when I was back in school and I was doing really hard on my homework
43:21 and he's rocked off on the last day and been like, "How's this?"
43:24 And the teachers have gone, "I can see your point."
43:26 He says it with confidence.
43:29 And just to use up the invite, there was no interruptions that we had previously agreed upon.
43:35 There would be a 16-man Survivor Series match.
43:39 Yes, we are aware of that.
43:41 A period of silence from both of you would be very welcome.
43:44 While we also--
43:46 [laughter]
43:48 I'll turn that crown upside down.
43:50 We're going to have a bit of quiet contemplation ourselves
43:52 and each of us is going to write on our boards here
43:55 which one of you we think should go through to the semifinals of Fantasy Book Award.
43:59 [music]
44:22 All right, we've all made our decisions.
44:24 Nina, what are you thinking?
44:26 Two very, very different storylines,
44:29 but I went with one that I as a fan would want to see
44:33 that I felt like took me on an emotional rollercoaster,
44:37 gave me what I want in wrestling,
44:40 and I've gone for Luke.
44:42 [laughter]
44:45 Wow.
44:46 I think that Luke is a very nice man.
44:50 [laughter]
44:55 And I think that you've tried hard to provide lots of fan service
45:00 and I respect that.
45:03 I do respect that.
45:04 And I respect you.
45:05 Thank you, Luke.
45:07 [laughter]
45:08 Sorry to write that up.
45:09 Dan, I think that you've sort of gone with the brief of a Triple H retirement
45:18 and written a Cody Rhodes story, not a Triple H story.
45:21 You also spent the first two minutes of your video with toilet paper on your head.
45:24 Yeah, I didn't know if we should address that.
45:26 It was a hot day.
45:28 So again, there are problems.
45:30 That's absolutely fair.
45:32 However, one of these booking scenarios vaguely makes sense
45:38 and the other one is completely bat-sh*t crazy.
45:42 So I've gone with the one that makes sense.
45:44 Boring.
45:45 [laughter]
45:47 Which means the casting vote goes to Michael Oakes.
45:52 The most praising of my story as well.
45:56 Famous in Japan, yeah.
45:58 I was getting warm and sweaty while watching certain stories versus another story.
46:07 I was trying to wrap my head around what was going on
46:12 and also what was going to happen next
46:15 and I just kept adding more twists and turns
46:17 versus just a story where it's like, "Alright, here's where we're going.
46:22 Here's what makes logical sense.
46:24 Here's what my four-year-old son Colin could understand.
46:27 Let's go to Mania and watch this show."
46:30 I'm choosing the one that made me think,
46:34 "I need to watch this to know what's going to happen next."
46:37 So I've chosen Luke.
46:39 [laughter]
46:41 You've done what?
46:43 I've chosen Luke.
46:44 I did not expect this.
46:46 Because I was like, "Well..."
46:48 I want to hear another fantasy booking story from you.
46:52 You just wanted to keep complimenting me.
46:54 I miss Nexus so much.
46:56 He mentioned the wing dingle just before my time,
47:00 but I get to see it.
47:01 It's now customary to hear from both the loser and the winner,
47:04 so unbelievably, the loser is Dan Leighton.
47:07 Dan, any words?
47:08 I mean, there are none.
47:10 He's used them all.
47:12 We'll just have to build some new stars
47:14 and then we can do more Faction Warfare.
47:16 If we want to see it, we want to see it.
47:18 Or Fair Play. I'm happy being the underdog on this occasion.
47:21 Luke, you won?
47:23 Yeah, well, it was air-rendered out, though.
47:25 [laughter]
47:27 Any words in victory?
47:29 Sometimes, just brilliance comes to you.
47:32 And then it ends up falling out your fingers,
47:36 and out your mouth,
47:38 and then at least a vote, and victory.
47:41 Good miserations to Dan, obviously, with it.
47:43 It was a very credible effort.
47:44 These things happen, I guess.
47:46 [laughter]
47:48 I've just completely lost any sense of reality,
47:52 so we'll end it there.
47:54 Thank you very much to both Dan and to Luke.
47:56 Thank you.
47:57 We will see you in the semi-finals.
47:59 Dan, I'm so sorry.
48:00 No, you know what?
48:01 Somehow, the sheer ludicrousness of Luke Owen
48:04 was enough to extinguish the hopes of Dan Leighton,
48:06 as Luke now joins Oli Davis in the semi-final.
48:10 But before they do battle,
48:12 we must learn who will make up the other side
48:14 of our semi-final bracket.
48:16 Tune in next week to find out
48:18 as we continue fantasy booking warfare.
48:23 Do the hook. Let's do the playmaker.
48:26 I agree, then.
48:27 Okay, well...
48:28 Okay, I think we've heard all we need to hear.
48:30 You didn't say that, did you?
48:31 Something to write that down.
48:32 I think we've heard more than we need.
48:33 We've heard a lot.
48:34 This is horrible.
48:35 I thought it was going to be much nicer.
48:37 I did not get three Simon Cowles.
48:39 I love the business, so that's where you've gone wrong.
