00:00 Hello, my name is Christian Heflin. I am the writer and director of Alone and the owner of
00:04 Crash Films. So Alone is about a woman who comes face to face with her mother's malevolent spirit
00:10 after she forged her will. We filmed this back in summer of 2022 and it was definitely a low budget
00:18 but we worked with what we had, small cast, small crew, and I'm very happy with what we were able
00:24 to accomplish in such a short time. It was really a fun experience to get out there, put everyone on
00:30 camera, and work through some of the, you know, these things with the script and just sort of make
00:35 adjustments here and there and make those tough decisions in order to make it happen. And I'm very,
00:40 very, very happy with the final product and I'm really excited to share it with everyone.
00:44 So with this film, our goal was to make your heart race a little bit and the focus was on
00:51 the build-up leading up to the big scare. So we really wanted to make sure that in every aspect,
00:56 you know, whether it was designing the shots and the cinematography or the sound or the performances
01:01 that it was a progression, you know, that it takes that time to create that suspense and develop into
01:09 that big climactic moment. So in the summer of 2021, I had shot a student film called The Man
01:15 in the Dark and it was really just me and one other friend and two actors and we didn't have
01:21 much equipment, we didn't have much of anything, we just sort of showed up and did it because
01:26 I had felt that if I had delayed making my own films that I wouldn't learn and grow, I wouldn't
01:33 run into problems and have to find solutions. So with that film, you know, the quality is not super
01:38 great but where I was at as a filmmaker at that point in my life, I felt very proud that we were
01:45 able to go and make something and with this film, I wanted to significantly improve on every single
01:53 aspect of the filmmaking. So whether it was the camera quality or the lighting or the performances,
01:59 you know, I wanted to showcase everything. The sound was also a very, very important thing
02:04 for this film. You know, my last film, we didn't have a composer, we didn't have really a score,
02:09 so with this film, we did have that and it creates such a, it builds the tension up for the film and
02:16 the suspense, it creates a whole different feeling and like with my last film, we didn't have a
02:23 cinema camera and in this one, we had a cinema camera, we had cinema lenses. It was truly an
02:28 amazing experience to have all these lights and all these different people coming together,
02:34 working as a team to make this film happen and the quality of this film is just so much better
02:39 and I hope that people are able to see how far me and my crew have come in this past year from
02:44 my first film to this film. So my goals for 2023 are just make more films, man. I mean, as long as
02:50 I'm behind the camera, I'm happy, you know, whether it's a short film or a music video,
02:55 promo, anything. If I'm behind the camera, you know, it's an opportunity for me to learn new
03:02 things and continue to grow. It's also an opportunity for me to showcase the skills
03:07 that I've learned and how far I've come. So with anything in life, you know, people always say
03:12 that you should always make your own opportunities and put yourself out there because no one's going
03:17 to make these opportunities for you. So with Crash Films, you know, I knew that my passion was
03:23 being behind the camera. I've always known from a young age that I had this wild imagination and it
03:28 was always my dream to sort of make these movies and learn the process of making films and that's
03:35 really what Crash Films is all about. My name is Christian Heflin. I am the owner of Crash Films.
03:40 Thank you for watching and I look forward to you experiencing my film alone.
