National Lottery: Couple ignore winning emails thinking they were spam

A couple who spent four weeks ignoring emails from the National Lottery thinking it was SPAM were stunned to learn they had won £10,000 a month for the next year.  James Briggs, 42, and wife Sally, 40, waited a month to open the messages from Camelot before eventually learning they had banked their amazing windfall.

00:06 So I've literally had a month of being really busy or a few months been really busy.

00:10 We've been to Berlin for Sally's birthday and then I actually went to

00:15 Barcelona for a work conference and then I come back, I checked my emails, I can see I had

00:21 multiple emails from the National Lottery. I wasn't quite sure if it was

00:24 spam or if it was actual proper emails so the next day I checked the app and I

00:29 could see that it said, "Oh you've won second prize." I rang up the

00:34 hotline just to confirm that that was definitely the case and then I

00:38 waited to tell Sally to give her a surprise later in the evening.

00:42 I didn't believe it. I'm like, "What? No, you can't be serious. That's not..." Yeah, no, it's just not...

00:47 I just couldn't fathom it basically and it's still a bit unbelievable.

00:52 So we've got a wish list of things we want. So like a laptop, we're looking to

00:57 maybe get a new front door. Sally's looking for a she shed in the bottom of the garden.

01:02 Yeah, well that would be my space, you know, for me to go down in the

01:06 garden, do my arts and crafts, maybe do a bit of yoga, actually have the space to,

01:10 you know, have everything laid out if I wanted to and not have to confine my

01:15 space to the kitchen table. So yeah, we've had a fabulous year and thanks to the

01:20 National Lottery we're going to have another fabulous year.
