00:00 Andrew McCarthy takes some pretty incredible photos of the moon.
00:06 In fact, over the summer he took thousands of pictures over the course of 22 days to
00:10 make this, a video of the moon which appears to wobble based on its elliptical orbit and
00:14 position of the observer.
00:16 But now he's taken his lunar viewing to a whole new level, and claims to have taken
00:19 one of the most detailed photos of the moon ever.
00:22 This is the result of many sleepless nights out under the glowing celestial body.
00:26 Just like with the video, this single image is actually thousands of photos that have
00:30 been stitched together for an ultra high definition look at Earth's closest neighbor.
00:34 But despite its fidelity, this pic was sort of an afterthought for McCarthy.
00:37 The night he took the photos used in the composite, he was actually after a shot of the Great
00:41 Conjunction when Jupiter and Saturn were right next to each other in the sky.
00:45 But the night was so perfect, after shooting that he got a few, well, thousand photos of
00:50 the moon as well.
00:51 He even got one with a tiny international space station flying right by, letting us
00:55 see a close up of every crater, canyon, and shadow of Earth's one and only moon.
