00:00 Yay.
00:00 (gunshots)
00:03 (screams)
00:05 Hi, I'm Kerry Washington,
00:07 and I am playing Pop Quiz with Mary Claire.
00:11 Ready?
00:12 (gunshot)
00:13 (laughs)
00:15 Oh God, okay.
00:17 Last song you got stuck in your head.
00:19 It would be Cuff It, Faux Show.
00:22 It's the song of the year.
00:24 There's no escaping it.
00:25 And why would you want to?
00:26 (gunshot)
00:29 (laughs)
00:31 Word your friends would use to describe you.
00:35 Oh my gosh, I hate this question always,
00:37 'cause I feel like you should just ask my friends.
00:40 I have friends here.
00:45 Friends, what word would you use to describe me?
00:49 Bossy.
00:50 I'm so glad I asked my friends.
00:52 Bossy.
00:54 I'm a boss, who's sometimes bossy, apparently.
00:58 (gunshot)
00:58 (screams)
01:01 Do better, Gary.
01:03 Okay, here we go.
01:04 Last book you read.
01:06 Well, right now I'm reading Spare by Prince Harry.
01:09 So I think that counts.
01:11 (gunshot)
01:15 Favorite dance move.
01:18 I like a lot of dance moves.
01:20 I like a lot, let's see.
01:22 Do I have a favorite dance move?
01:24 Some microphones here.
01:25 The classic wop.
01:26 That's the one that makes me feel silliest,
01:28 like the wop from when.
01:30 Does that count?
01:34 Okay.
01:34 Oh, I have to do another one of these.
01:38 (gunshot)
01:39 (laughs)
01:41 How did you make your first dollar?
01:43 I made my first dollar working for my mother,
01:46 'cause she was the president of the Bronx Reading Council,
01:50 and they used to always have these mailers,
01:52 and so she would gather my cousins and I around the table,
01:55 and we would fold up these flyers and stuff envelopes
01:58 and close them, and she paid us,
02:01 which is really kind now that I think about it,
02:03 'cause she's my mother, she didn't have to pay me.
02:05 So that's nice.
02:06 (gunshot)
02:08 (yells)
02:10 What should every woman try at least once in her life?
02:17 So many things.
02:18 Every woman should try many, many, many
02:22 different things in her life.
02:23 But I think what every woman should try
02:26 at least once in her life is to withstand
02:31 the feelings of disappointing other people
02:33 to do what feels right to you.
02:35 Feels really good.
02:37 (gunshot)
02:39 Guilty pleasure watch on TV or streamer.
02:43 I don't believe in this whole guilty pleasure watch thing.
02:46 I feel like if it gives you pleasure, no guilt.
02:49 Things that give you pleasure should be happy things.
02:51 No guilt.
02:52 Things that give me pleasure when I watch them.
02:54 I used to really, really, really love
02:59 Ayanla Fix My Life on OWN.
03:02 I was really sad when Ayanla ended that show.
03:05 She's amazing.
03:06 (gunshot)
03:10 Do you have any secret talents?
03:13 I'm learning that I have really good capacity
03:16 to love lizards, 'cause my son has a lizard named Spiral.
03:20 And I love Spiral more than I ever thought
03:23 that I could love an amphibian.
03:25 Reptile?
03:26 Not sure, but I love him.
03:29 (screams)
03:31 Do I have them on my face right now?
03:34 Oh, go-to late night snack.
03:37 I am a dark chocolate lover.
03:42 Like above 70%, above 80% if possible.
03:46 Like a good dark chocolate.
03:48 It is my happy place.
03:50 And you can never have too much of it.
03:53 There's not enough of it in the world for me.
03:55 You're welcome.
03:56 (gunshot)
03:58 (squeals)
03:59 All right, this one says,
04:01 what makes you feel most powerful or confident?
04:06 I think the thing that makes me feel most powerful
04:09 and confident is when I am really in a faithful place.
04:14 Like when I feel close to God, to my spiritual practices,
04:18 when I feel like I'm trusting in kind of my higher power,
04:23 then it allows me to feel more confident and powerful.
04:28 (screams)
04:30 What advice would you give your younger self?
04:33 Oh dear, I mean, I would want to tell my younger self
04:37 to just relax.
04:39 (laughs)
04:40 I would wanna tell my younger self that it's gonna be okay
04:43 and to just try to enjoy the journey.
04:47 But I know that some of that desire and drive
04:52 is part of how I have the life I have today.
04:54 But I would just want her to trust more
04:57 and be excited and ambitious,
05:00 but without as much fear and worry.
05:02 (gunshot)
05:06 The number one thing on your bucket list.
05:08 Well, I've recently learned that you're not supposed
05:10 to call it a bucket list,
05:11 you're supposed to call it a live it list.
05:13 So I have a few.
05:15 I'll say two.
05:16 One is to visit County Kerry in Ireland,
05:18 'cause I've never been there
05:19 and I'm named after County Kerry,
05:21 so I feel like that's a big one.
05:22 And then I really wanna see the Northern Lights.
05:25 Two more.
05:26 (gunshot)
05:27 Two!
05:28 The penultimate question is,
05:31 most star struck moment.
05:34 I've done two movies with Sir Anthony Hopkins.
05:37 And the first time that I worked with him,
05:40 I was super nervous about meeting him
05:42 'cause he's one of my favorite actors of all time.
05:44 And I ran into him at craft service.
05:46 And he of course was very calm.
05:48 (laughs)
05:49 But I was like shaking and nervous
05:51 and didn't know what to say to him.
05:52 And he was so kind and so sweet.
05:54 And I'm really grateful that he was so kind and so sweet
05:57 'cause it was crazy embarrassing.
05:59 I don't get star struck a lot,
06:00 but that was one for me.
06:02 The last silver balloon is apparently a bonus question.
06:06 Lord help me.
06:08 Okay, here we go.
06:09 (gunshot)
06:11 Woo!
06:12 Tell us your story in six words.
06:15 What?
06:17 Oh God, okay.
06:19 My story in six words.
06:21 This is so hard.
06:24 Everything's seven words.
06:25 Okay, wait, let me try.
06:26 (laughs)
06:27 Bronx girl finds meaning in the journey.
06:32 That's seven, but you'll have to accept it.
06:34 (laughs)
06:36 All right everybody, that's a wrap.
06:38 (upbeat music)
