इजरायल के झंडे में जो नीला सितारा देखते हैं उसे स्टार ऑफ डेविड यानी डेविड का सितारा कहते हैं. इसका प्रयोग यहूदियों ने 14वीं के मध्य से ही अपने झंडे पर करना शुरू कर दिया था. बाद में ये इनका धार्मिक चिन्ह भी बन गया. इसके साथ ही साल 1896 में जब जायोनी आंदोलन की शुरूआत हुई तो इस झंडे को यहां भी अपनाया गया. हालांकि, यहूदियों ने इसे आधिकारिक रूप से इजरायल का झंडा 28 अक्टूबर 1948 को अपनाया.
