00:00 I've always been curious as to why things are the way they are and I think I've always
00:15 been interested in things that often get overlooked, which is I think why I'm interested in the
00:21 slime mold.
00:22 It's a little organism, it's something that most people know nothing about, but there
00:28 are pockets of research and investigation from a scientific and artistic point of view.
00:35 The slime mold is attributed with ideas of intelligence, primitive intelligence, but
00:41 it is making decisions.
00:47 The organism is basically like in a virtual reality situation and we pick up its behaviour
00:52 and we map it back onto the robot.
00:55 Why we are doing this with slime mold?
00:57 This is a way to do computation with organic substrates, with living substrates, not with
01:02 silicone.
01:03 It has no organs, no brain, so any intelligence it has is within this vein structure inside
01:11 it.
01:12 Can we be an artistic interface between data and information?
01:19 Can we have something richer to convey this information?
01:26 Interpreting the data as emotions, really this is moving from science to art.
01:34 The main experiment that we want to run is to create a human slime mold.
01:40 I would say that the meaning of intelligence perhaps needs to be redefined a little bit.
01:48 Not animal, not vegetable, not fungi.
