00:00 When Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, she donned a tiara that she had borrowed

00:05 from her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

00:08 However, the monarch's own wedding, which took place 73 years earlier, wasn't as happy

00:15 We Brits are all too familiar with the national celebration that occurs during a royal wedding,

00:20 including the build-up to the event, the regal carriage processions, and the excitement surrounding

00:25 the royal bride's clothing.

00:28 But Princess Beatrice went in a more personal direction for her private wedding in Windsor.

00:33 Fans had to wait to see Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's matrimony because of lockdown

00:38 regulations at the time, which prevented many guests, including the late Prince Philip and

00:44 Queen Elizabeth II, from attending.

00:47 After the event, pictures were released, showcasing Beatrice's gorgeous ivory gown that the late

00:52 Her Majesty had previously worn.

00:55 Beatrice accessorized her dress with a fringe tiara to accentuate the drop, dazzle embellishments

01:03 It was a tastefully put-together ensemble that highlighted the unique relationship between

01:09 Beatrice continued the custom of wearing the tiara as her "something borrowed," as had

01:19 The tiara had been given to the Queen Mother in 1936.

01:22 Though the late Queen almost didn't wear the entire tiara due to a catastrophe on the morning

01:27 of her wedding, it did give her a great deal of concern on her own wedding day.

01:32 A hairdresser was completing touches to the Queen's veil when the headpiece broke in half

01:37 just two hours before the ceremony was set to begin.

01:40 The Queen Mother was heard trying to calm the situation by stating, "There are still

01:44 two hours and there are other tiaras."

01:47 After the accident that occurred during the day's rush reportedly left the Queen upset.

01:52 Fortunately, on one of the busiest days in the royal calendar, everyone was available,

01:57 so the family jeweler could quickly head to his workspace while being escorted by police

02:01 to repair the broken tiara.

02:03 And he succeeded in doing so, miraculously mending the item and making it back in time

02:08 for the bride to enter Westminster Abbey 73 years before Princess Beatrice wore it, thankfully

02:14 without any known glitches.

02:16 The late Her Majesty also borrowed Beatrice's wedding gown, a Norman Hartnell-designed peau
