00:17 The farm sits in a beautiful landscape on the north-western edge of Sheffield.
00:23 It lies within the Peak District National Park and encompasses an internationally important site of special scientific interest.
00:30 It's a place of wonder and importance for a wide variety of wildlife, providing a feeding ground for curlew, golden plover and other nationally threatened species.
00:40 So when Ugg Hill Farm came up for sale we knew we had to act really swiftly because we wanted to protect this fantastic wildlife haven.
00:49 We needed to protect it from intensive farming because a lot of the land around here has been increasingly intensively farmed.
00:56 Which means often we lose the habitat that's really great for breeding waders and we want to ensure that the land is looked after for those birds into the future.
01:07 Thanks to the support of the Esme Fairbairn Foundation we've managed to temporarily save Ugg Hill Farm.
01:14 So Ugg Hill Farm will help us demonstrate nature-friendly farming, that's what we hope to achieve here.
01:21 Farming and nature in careful balance because it allows the Trust to test and learn ways of farming in a nature-friendly way so that we can learn.
01:31 But it also allows us to think about how we can work with farmers in partnership.
01:37 We need to be able to test and learn how farmers can both balance nature and farming and make a living.
01:45 But time is of the essence. We have just one year to repay the Foundation, take ownership of the site and secure the future of Ugg Hill Farm forever.
