00:00 Hey everyone, and welcome to this first in a series of deep dive videos looking at some
00:06 of the unique mechanics you'll find in Classified France 44.
00:11 Classified distinguishes itself in the turn-based tactical genre through its lack of sci-fi
00:15 plasma pistols and biotic powers, and instead focusing on historical authenticity. You'll
00:20 deploy real-world weaponry and tactics against your enemies, and they'll use those tactics
00:25 against you too.
00:27 Whether you're in the open or in full cover, bullets are frightening. This is why Classified
00:31 France 44 employs a unique morale mechanic for both allies and the enemy. Hit or miss,
00:37 every attack deals morale damage to the target and the surrounding units, ensuring that every
00:41 shot counts.
00:44 If you or the enemy are brought below 50% morale, that unit enters a suppressed state.
00:49 This means their action points are cut in half, limiting their ability to move and attack.
00:53 Additionally, they are shaken, giving them reduced accuracy.
00:57 Defeat a unit's entire morale bar and you break them, forcing them to miss their next
01:00 turn.
01:02 This is based on military fix and flank tactics. Half the team pins the enemy with suppressing
01:07 fire, whilst their allies move into a beneficial position to secure the kill.
01:13 Most importantly, when you flank a suppressed or broken target, your attacks against them
01:16 are guaranteed to deal critical damage, allowing you to safely take them down.
01:22 As you progress through the campaign, you'll be rewarded with more weaponry and abilities
01:25 that can increase your combat effectiveness. Look out for items with high morale damage
01:29 to maximise your squad's impact on the battlefield, and if you're in a tight spot, make the most
01:34 of rallying skills to bring your broken units back into the fight.
01:38 To see the idea of every shot counts in practice, let's look at an example.
01:42 Here we can see a portion of our squad is pushing the enemy situated on a bridge. These
01:46 hostile forces currently have the high ground and could wreak havoc on our advance across
01:49 the train tracks.
01:51 Unfortunately, our shot missed. That doesn't mean it was waste. The blue bar beneath the
01:56 enemy's health indicates their morale. By bringing it below 50%, we've suppressed
02:00 them.
02:01 Unsurprisingly, the enemy makes a run for cover. With reduced action points and lowered
02:06 accuracy, they'd be foolish to take us on.
02:09 But we maintain the pressure, moving forward and taking another shot, shattering the remainder
02:15 of the enemy's morale bar and putting them into the broken state.
02:23 While enemies are locked in place, it's vital that we take advantage of the guaranteed
02:26 critical hits and move in for the kill. Flanking broken units while they're vulnerable is
02:30 the cornerstone of Fix and Flank tactics, and something you'll need to rely on if
02:33 you want to succeed.
02:36 While playing Classified, it's vital to consider how you can affect the enemy's
02:39 morale, and how they might use these tactics against you. The battlefield is unforgiving.
02:43 It will take nerves of steel to emerge victorious.
