00:00 Stay with us here, get down, just everyone just go flat, we don't have time.
00:04 Everyone's just laying flat on the ground here, we've got to take cover.
00:16 You hear that explosion?
00:17 That's the interception.
00:20 Another time they're trying to overwhelm the Iron Dome again.
00:23 I can see them coming off the Gaza Strip from multiple locations.
00:35 Trey as usual, you're in the thick of things.
00:37 I hope you're safe and well.
00:39 What's the latest?
00:41 Greg, good afternoon.
00:44 Right now we are seeing the Israeli military strike the Gaza Strip once again.
00:49 Since Saturday afternoon they've started to target Gaza following that bloody massacre
00:54 against innocent Israelis.
00:56 More than 900 people were killed at the hands of Palestinian militants who infiltrated into
01:02 Israel.
01:03 Tonight Israel is preparing for a ground invasion of Gaza.
01:06 Today throughout the day we saw tanks and APCs, thousands of Israeli soldiers and Yoav
01:12 Galant, the country's defense minister, saying that 300,000 reservists have been called up
01:17 and showed up preparing to fight and enter Gaza.
01:21 All of this taking place as rocket fire continues into southern and central Israel.
01:25 The cities of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv were targeted today.
01:28 And now this question of whether or not Israel will face a multi-front conflict with the
01:33 possibility of a new front opening with Lebanon.
01:36 Trey, I wanted to ask you about one of the tactics.
01:39 It seems that, of course, this is modern warfare.
01:41 We did see this with ISIS as well, but utilizing social media in order to prosecute the attack.
01:49 And I was learning a little bit more today about how some of these terrorists would take
01:56 the victim's phone, film what they were doing to them, and then post that to their social
02:03 media feeds.
02:04 And you've covered many conflicts, but this seems to me a little bit of a different tactic
02:08 and a terrible one.
02:09 But at least it does give everyone a chance to see what this evil really looks like.
02:17 Yeah, these militants who wanted to inflict the maximum amount of terror against the civilian
02:24 population here, they went into people's homes and slaughtered women and children who couldn't
02:30 fight back like cowards.
02:32 These are ISIS wannabes when they took over different military bases along the border,
02:37 rather than conducting an operation like a country would with a military.
02:42 They beheaded soldiers.
02:44 They dragged bodies through the streets of Gaza and then captured people to take into
02:48 the tunnels underneath the Gaza Strip.
02:51 A lot of this for the propaganda of the group to inflict that fear into the hearts and minds
02:56 of the Israeli people.
02:57 And they were able to do that.
02:59 But what they didn't understand is that by doing that, they would mobilize an entire
03:03 country against them.
03:05 And that is what is taking place today.
03:08 There are hundreds of thousands who have been called up to serve in the army.
03:12 Those who are not serving are volunteering at hospitals, preparing for more injured people
03:17 to be brought in.
03:18 And even restaurant owners, they're bringing food to the Gaza border to soldiers and to
03:23 civilians.
03:24 Everyone is pitching in where they can because they understand, while it has been a bloody
03:28 and violent past two days, this could and likely will just be the beginning of a massive
03:34 ground war in the Middle East.
03:37 Trey, Charlie Hurt here.
03:39 Amid all of your amazing reporting, one of the most haunting details was your description
03:44 of these Hamas terrorists going house to house and finding families cowering in safe rooms.
03:53 And if they couldn't break down the door to get to the families, they would just light
03:56 the entire house on fire.
03:58 Do you have any sense of how many people died that way?
04:02 And is that a tactic that we've ever seen before?
04:08 So the majority of people were killed when these militants entered these communities
04:12 along the border.
04:14 This is a tactic that is unheard of in modern warfare, such an extremist way to slaughter
04:20 innocent people.
04:21 And again, that was their way of conducting themselves in southern Israel.
04:26 They're still in the country holding territory, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
04:31 Netanyahu.
04:32 But they were going from house to house, killing as many people as they could.
04:37 And today we got new information from one of the communities called Berri along the
04:41 border.
04:42 And it's a community with about a thousand people that live there.
04:45 And more than a hundred bodies were recovered today.
04:48 Ten percent of their population killed at the hands of these militants.
04:53 And again, these were not people that were on a military base.
04:56 They were not engaging them in a gun battle.
04:59 They were women and children.
05:01 We have seen graphic, graphic imagery on Telegram and these messaging apps.
05:06 We've seen the videos and the photos published by these militants and these organizations
05:10 in Gaza of children, four and five year olds that were killed in their homes.
05:17 And they're celebrating in Gaza.
05:19 And it is really motivating the Israeli public and the soldiers that we've spoken to at the
05:24 border to go into Gaza and is, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu put it,
05:30 to destroy Hamas.
05:31 Hey, Trey, it's Jesse Tarlev here.
05:34 Thank you so much for joining us and for your incredible reporting the last couple of days.
05:38 I'm curious if you could shed some more light on what a ground war would look like.
05:43 You mentioned that this would spread to the wider Middle East.
05:45 Is there expectation of boots on the ground from other nations?
05:50 Where do you think the coalitions will end up going?
05:52 We've seen Saudi backing off a little bit in terms of their support for Hamas versus
05:57 Israel.
05:58 But yeah, what do you think it's going to look like?
06:03 So a ground war in Gaza is going to be incredibly difficult.
06:06 The Israelis have entered Gaza before and they've held territory there.
06:10 And Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas on Earth.
06:13 There are 1.9 million people that live there.
06:17 And it's a 25-mile strip of land.
06:19 It's anywhere from three to seven miles wide.
06:23 And so they're going to enter the Gaza Strip and they're going to be immediately engaged
06:27 by Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants, along with other smaller Palestinian factions.
06:32 And it will be incredibly difficult because they're fighting on their turf and they're
06:36 fighting an urban battle that will involve RPGs, small arms fire, the continuous rocket
06:43 fire into the border communities and deeper into Israel.
06:47 And so that's part of what the ground war would look like on the southern front.
06:52 And there will be a constant insurgency against the Israeli forces if they decide to stay
06:58 there for a long time.
07:00 Even civilians who support the cause of Hamas could get involved in that fighting.
07:04 Now, on the northern border, a ground war would be much more challenging.
07:08 We have been into the Hezbollah tunnels along the border between Lebanon and Israel.
07:13 And the infrastructure there is more significant.
07:16 The weaponry is more significant.
07:17 Off in the distance now, I can hear those Israeli airstrikes continuing along the Gaza
07:21 Strip.
07:22 But when it comes to Lebanon, we've seen the classified intelligence.
07:25 The former defense minister, Benny Gantz, showed it to me himself.
07:29 The Israelis had mapped out where Hezbollah keeps their precision guided missiles and
07:33 the rockets.
07:34 All of them are aimed at Israel and there are thousands of different positions.
07:39 And so the war with Lebanon and the war with Hezbollah is really the larger 30,000 foot
07:45 view concern for Israel.
07:47 Trey, Jeanine Pirro here.
07:50 You know, the Hamas, and I prefer calling them terrorists and not militants, but they've
07:57 indicated that they will execute one hostage for every Israeli strike.
08:04 Moving forward, I don't know, and maybe you do, how Israel will handle this.
08:09 And there's also a second part of this.
08:11 If there is a war in the Golan Heights, the northern border, you know, where Lebanon is,
08:17 do other countries then get involved?
08:20 How is Israel in a position to defend herself, especially since I'm hearing that the Iron
08:27 Dome is kind of it's kind of being stretched in terms of its strength because they're shooting
08:33 missiles, missiles, some of which are duds that start to wear down the dome so that there
08:40 is this concerted effort again in this kind of coordinated militaristic way that they're
08:46 handling this, where Israel is truly on the defensive?
08:51 Yeah, this is part of the issue is that they're dealing with two separate fronts and two different
08:58 groups of fighters.
09:00 And already today, Hezbollah militants tried to cross into Israel and were engaged in a
09:05 firefight with the Israelis.
09:08 So there is an understanding that if this multi-front war erupts at the level that Israel
09:13 believes it could, it could drag the entire region into this fight.
09:17 And when it comes to other countries' involvement, it's part of the reason the United States
09:21 is moving an aircraft carrier closer to Israel.
09:23 They want to send a message to Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah that Israel has support
09:29 from its allies.
09:30 And that's really a critical part of this story as things develop here in southern Israel.
09:35 Trey, thanks so much.
