00:02 - Hi, Dan Greave here,
00:05 head professional at Woburn Golf Club,
00:07 and this is a nice drill for you
00:08 to help you improve your contacts on the chip and runs.
00:11 One of the most common faults with a chip and run shot
00:14 is that the player will tend to back off onto the back foot
00:16 and attempt to try and help the ball into the air.
00:18 That makes the low point of the swing
00:20 too far behind the ball, leading to fat and thin shots.
00:22 So, something that you can have a go at in practice
00:26 is you set up as normal,
00:28 and then pull your left foot forward a bit
00:29 and bring your right foot right away back here,
00:31 so you're right on the toe here.
00:33 And what you'll find is all of your weight now
00:35 is on the left side,
00:37 and then your goal is to make sure
00:38 that you stay in this position as you hit the shot,
00:41 and you just get some nice solid strikes
00:43 and start to get that feeling
00:45 of how that weight stays left as you chip.
