Australia’s biggest gaming convention takes off in Melbourne
Tens of thousands of gamers have descended on Melbourne for the country's biggest gaming festival. More than 80 percent of Australians now play video games, according to industry research. The three-day event has given fans access to new games, indie and cutting-edge developers - and a chance to be a hero, a villain, pokemon, or NPC.

00:34 But they come all over Australia and we also get a lot of international people coming over to check out the scene.
00:39 It's the 10th anniversary for the three day event featuring the classics and some new favourites.

00:53 Waiting up for Tsumaru Wonder. It's the first time it's been played in Australia and it's coming out in about a month.

01:02 The gaming industry is a $200 million industry and it is just growing strength to strength.
01:08 And it's very visible here just how it is growing.
01:11 The number of Australians employed in game development studios has jumped by nearly 60% since 2020.

01:22 Well we have a demo out now and we're thinking about releasing in 2024, possibly towards the end.
