00:00 Hi, I'm Dream and this is the Wired Autocomplete Interview.
00:03 [upbeat music]
00:06 I like to say that I'm six foot two.
00:08 [upbeat music]
00:11 Did Dream put the mask back on?
00:15 Kind of, it just depends.
00:16 I wanna make sure that I still have the mask.
00:18 I love the mask, it's great,
00:19 and what it stands for is amazing.
00:21 So that if I'm just being Dream
00:22 or I wanna represent that part of myself,
00:24 then I wear it, so it's kind of a 50/50.
00:27 So I guess yes, but no.
00:29 What is Dream SMP Minecraft?
00:31 SMP stands for survival multiplayer
00:34 and Dream SMP was a server that I started
00:36 with a bunch of my friends
00:37 and it just became a bigger and bigger thing
00:39 with like role play and it was almost like
00:41 people would watch it kind of like an anime.
00:43 There was villains and I was one of them.
00:45 Is Dream SMP scripted?
00:47 Yes, yes, Dream SMP was scripted.
00:49 There was a lot of improv
00:50 and there was a lot of moments that happened
00:52 and sometimes we would plan out like,
00:53 all right, well, we don't know exactly what we wanna have,
00:55 but we want these key points.
00:56 We have like, this person's gonna die
00:57 and we don't know exactly how yet
00:59 and then we just kind of go through
01:00 and let things go as they do.
01:01 So yes, it was scripted for sure.
01:03 Did Dream go to college?
01:05 I have ADHD, so I always struggled in school.
01:07 I was always like from a pretty young age,
01:09 like I'm not going to college.
01:10 My parents would always be like,
01:11 well, you need to do something
01:12 if you're not gonna go to college.
01:13 So I was like, all right, I'm gonna get certifications
01:15 and try and learn, so I learned to code.
01:16 I got a bunch of like technical certifications
01:19 and so no, I didn't,
01:20 but I tried to make up for it in other ways.
01:22 Is Dream a Minecraft god?
01:25 Yes, I am a Minecraft god.
01:27 You should not mess with me.
01:28 You will lose.
01:29 Where is Dream Minecraft from?
01:33 I'm from Orlando and Dream Minecraft's from
01:35 me trying to say Dream on and inspire yourself, so.
01:39 When Dream started playing Minecraft?
01:42 Around 2011, 2010, there was a server, MCPVP,
01:46 that I think was the first server I ever played on,
01:49 which I think opened in 2011 if I remember correctly.
01:52 Very, very long time, too long.
01:54 How fast did Dream, okay.
01:58 Beat Minecraft.
01:59 I think almost anyone could go beat Minecraft in four hours
02:01 if they put enough like practice into it,
02:03 but it's a lot harder when you have people
02:05 chasing you down or something.
02:06 I've beaten it in 20 minutes or so.
02:08 I've beaten it in an hour, four hours.
02:10 Probably the longest I've ever taken was six or seven hours.
02:13 How to get into the Dream dimension in Minecraft?
02:18 There's no Dream dimension.
02:20 So maybe there's a mod that has a Dream dimension
02:21 or something, but I wanna know the answer to that question,
02:23 so I'll have to have Mojang employee come up here
02:25 or something, but.
02:27 How tall is Dream Minecraft?
02:30 Can I stand up?
02:31 Is that?
02:33 I like to say that I'm six foot two, so I'm six foot two.
02:37 I think in shoes, I'm six foot three.
02:40 How old is Dream Minecraft?
02:41 August 12th is my birthday.
02:43 I just turned 24 years old, 1999.
02:46 How did Dream get famous?
02:49 I quit my job when I had no subscribers,
02:52 and I posted my first video July of 2019, so.
02:54 I tried to treat it like a job.
02:55 I was like, all right, well, if I actually
02:56 wanna make it a job, then I need to treat it like a job,
02:58 so I put at least eight plus hours a day,
03:01 every day, into it for a long time.
03:02 I studied, I planned, I came up with ideas
03:05 and tried different things.
03:06 I spent every waking hour for months and months and months
03:09 just editing and recording and coming up with ideas.
03:13 And there's a little bit of luck
03:14 and a little bit of skill and a little bit of everything
03:19 kind of mixed in together.
03:21 How did Dream and Sapnap meet?
03:23 We met on a server called MCPVP.
03:25 It's a Minecraft player versus player server
03:28 that you would play, like, there was Hunger Games
03:31 and you would fight other players in it.
03:33 Because it was the Hunger Games, you can make teams,
03:34 and he typed in chat, "Type 123 if you want a Skype team."
03:38 And I replied and said, "123."
03:40 And then we were friends ever since,
03:41 and now we live together, 10 years later, so.
03:44 How did Dream escape the prison?
03:47 I was broken out by the one and only Technoblade.
03:51 It's funny 'cause behind the scenes,
03:53 me and Awesome Dude worked together on that prison.
03:55 It was our baby.
03:55 We came up with all the mechanics and the redstone
03:58 and all the different ways, like,
04:00 no, we're having it suspended in lava
04:02 and you're not gonna be able to,
04:03 it's impenetrable prison.
04:04 And then Technoblade, of course, comes around
04:06 and just test out, outsmart me,
04:08 even though he was saving me in the actual lore.
04:11 What does Dream play Minecraft on?
04:15 I play Minecraft on PC.
04:16 I guess you can technically play Minecraft
04:17 on almost anything, your phone, Xbox.
04:19 I like more control and you can aim better and stuff,
04:22 in my opinion, so I like the PC.
04:24 What is Dream's FOV in Minecraft?
04:29 So FOV stands for field of view,
04:31 and it's like how zoomed in your screen is,
04:33 I guess, when you're playing.
04:34 Mine is 90.
04:35 Why is it 90?
04:36 I don't know, it's just my preference,
04:37 so I just messed with it,
04:38 and then all my friends have it as 90 now
04:40 because we agreed when we were making videos,
04:42 we were like, let's keep it consistent,
04:43 so if you're watching everybody's perspective,
04:44 you can see all the same zoom, I guess, so there you go.
04:48 You wanna be like me?
04:49 Make it 90.
04:50 What version of Minecraft does Dream play on?
04:53 I play on the latest version of Minecraft.
04:54 I used to only play on 1.8 and 1.7,
04:56 which were older versions of Minecraft,
04:58 and then I actually realized that most of the world,
05:00 other than multiplayer servers, play on the latest version,
05:03 and so I was like, if I wanna get more views on my videos,
05:05 I probably should play on the one that most people play on.
05:07 What is Dream's, this is a long one,
05:10 fastest Minecraft speedrun?
05:12 I don't know.
05:13 I know probably in my videos,
05:15 you're talking about a manhunt,
05:16 the quickest I ever did a manhunt against my friends,
05:18 which is a series I do where I'm speedrunning
05:20 and I have my friends trying to stop me.
05:22 I think I'd probably say it's probably
05:23 about an hour 45 or something,
05:25 if you're talking about with three or four players chasing me
05:28 and then by myself, I think it's around 20 minutes.
05:32 What is Clay Dream's last name?
05:35 That is a secret.
05:36 We do not speak of that.
05:38 Why is Dream so good at Minecraft?
05:42 I think it's a lot of practice.
05:43 I've played Minecraft since I was literally 11 years old
05:46 and I've put in hundreds and hundreds of thousands
05:48 of hours into the game and played way too much Minecraft,
05:50 way more than I want to admit.
05:51 Why did Dream quit Minecraft?
05:55 I didn't quit Minecraft.
05:56 I'm doing a little bit less Minecraft recently
05:59 'cause I've been making music and doing other things.
06:00 Definitely didn't quit and I don't think I ever really will
06:02 'cause it's a sandbox.
06:04 You can pretty much do whatever you want.
06:05 So I can never really get bored of it.
06:07 Why does Dream have a crown Minecraft?
06:10 That is very heartwarming.
06:13 I don't, I'm surprised that's a Google result.
06:16 I actually just recently removed the crown
06:17 from my Minecraft skin.
06:18 I put it on after Technoblade,
06:20 who is another friend of mine
06:22 and a Minecraft YouTuber that passed away.
06:24 He had a crown on his skin
06:25 and I wanted to put it on my skin to honor him.
06:28 And then I just recently published a tribute related to him
06:33 and I thought that it was worthy to retire the crown.
06:35 It had been a year.
06:36 Give it back to him 'cause he's still,
06:38 he did beat me, so.
06:40 Dream Minecraft Guinness World Records.
06:44 I have two of them.
06:46 I have a Guinness World Record for the most subscribers
06:49 for a dedicated Minecraft YouTube channel.
06:51 I got one I had 29,900,900 and I was like, no.
06:56 So they gave me a new one on the dot at 30 million.
06:58 So I have 30 million.
06:59 Dedicated Minecraft YouTuber with the most subscribers.
07:01 I have the most viewed Minecraft gameplay video.
07:05 I think I got it when I was at 103 million
07:07 or something views.
07:08 There's my two Guinness World and they're hanging
07:10 on my wall, so.
07:11 Did Dream win a Streamy?
07:14 Yes, I have won three Streamys.
07:17 I just won one in person for the first time
07:19 for Gamer of the Year.
07:20 I think I've won Gamer of the Year three
07:22 of the last five years, which is very cool.
07:25 I love the Streamys.
07:26 Thank you, Streamys.
07:27 Here's a long one.
07:28 Dream Minecraft versus Five Hunters.
07:30 I did a series called Minecraft Manhunt
07:31 where I tried to speedrun Minecraft
07:33 and my friends tried to stop me
07:34 and I just added more people.
07:36 I did like a little series of kind of like
07:39 the NBA finals and like sports where it's like
07:41 you do best of three or best of five.
07:43 Five Hunters was the final one.
07:45 The videos are getting tens of millions of views,
07:47 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 million views
07:48 and I was like, let's end it when we're at top,
07:50 when we're on top and let's end it with a bang.
07:52 The Five Hunters grand finale was the final video
07:55 in Manhunt series.
07:56 Might do a reunion one at some point,
07:57 but at this point it's already been,
07:58 I think over a year since the last Manhunt.
08:01 Are Dreams Minecraft Manhunts scripted?
08:04 No, they're not.
08:05 But there's a lot of things that definitely can,
08:07 that people would be like,
08:08 oh, that's like kind of scripting in a way.
08:10 We have like certain rules that make it more fair,
08:13 but also make it more interesting for the viewer.
08:15 And then I also do a lot of little editing tricks.
08:16 So a lot of times if like we're recording
08:18 and I've already done a trick or something,
08:20 I have the audio recording from when I did that trick
08:22 the first time.
08:23 And so that will be in the video.
08:25 That way the viewer's experience is the same
08:26 as the hunters was the original time.
08:28 Dream Minecraft friends?
08:31 My biggest friends are all the ones on my YouTube channel.
08:33 You know, GeorgeNotFound and Sapnap
08:34 are my two best friends.
08:35 But other than that, I mean, yeah, BadBoyHalo
08:37 and AntFrost and AwesomeDuder,
08:38 three of my good friends, they're in my YouTube videos.
08:40 Most of my friends I feel like that I'm closest with
08:42 are my friends that I played Minecraft with
08:43 since I was like 10.
08:44 And we were all like friends before we were YouTubers
08:46 and then we became YouTubers together.
08:48 Dream Minecraft unsolved mysteries?
08:54 That's a series I did on my channel a while back
08:58 where I just did like kind of a parody of BuzzFeed
09:01 in a way where I did like little mysteries in Minecraft.
09:04 I was like, you know, did PewDiePie like revive his dog
09:07 and lie about it in his video?
09:09 Or like why is Mojang not adding sharks?
09:12 Like it's silly little things
09:13 but make them interesting and dramatic.
09:15 And that's kind of my flair has always been
09:17 is kind of, you know, dramatizing things
09:19 and making them kind of movie-like and interesting.
09:22 But it's still there, you can go watch it.
09:23 Dream Minecraft bedwars?
09:26 I'm pretty decent.
09:27 I'm definitely not great at it.
09:30 You really need like a lot of practice.
09:32 There's some people that are crazy at it.
09:33 I guess in that instance, I'm not a Minecraft god.
09:36 Dream Minecraft enemy song?
09:39 I've done like little song parodies.
09:41 Like I sang like, "Under the tree,"
09:43 instead of "Under the sea" and stuff.
09:44 So I might've done something like that in a video
09:47 that people were like, "Oh, I want that."
09:48 And none of my songs are about Minecraft
09:50 or have Minecraft enemies.
09:51 So that's a mystery, I guess.
09:53 Dream Minecraft tour?
09:56 I am actually on a tour right now.
09:57 I'm currently doing a music tour
09:59 where I'm going to a bunch of places.
10:00 Show's been going great.
10:01 Yeah, I mean, just was in DC the other night.
10:03 I have New York and improving each time.
10:05 So practice makes perfect.
10:07 This was Dream and that was really interesting.
10:11 A lot of them were very like insightful
10:12 and I guess there was a couple of heartwarming ones
10:14 that I would not have expected from Google results.
10:17 So that's it for now.
10:18 (banging)
10:20 [BLANK_AUDIO]
