00:00 Hey, welcome to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show where we're going to talk about the Kia GT4
00:14 Stinger Concept.
00:15 Now, a lot of concept cars are purely design exercises.
00:20 This one is not, and everything we hear indicates that this is going to be in production relatively
00:24 soon.
00:25 It's a very aggressive, back to basics sports car, rear wheel drive with a 2.0 four cylinder
00:33 engine that makes 315 horsepower.
00:36 Now, just for reference, that's about 40 horsepower more than the Hyundai Genesis Coupe with a
00:41 similar 2.0 turbo engine.
00:45 Everything Kia said is about being back to basics on this car.
00:49 So when you look inside of it, it's really spartan.
00:52 In fact, they kept referring to what they called naked surfaces.
00:56 So there really are just very smooth surfaces that don't have any adornment, and there's
01:01 not even an audio system in that car.
01:04 That's how serious they are.
01:05 The wheels are carbon fiber.
01:07 That might not make it to production, but it is rear wheel drive, and a manual transmission
01:12 only is what they envision.
01:14 Again, we'll see if that iteration makes it to production without an automatic.
01:19 At the front of the car, which some people have said is similar looking to an Audi R8,
01:24 we have a really aggressive version of Kia's tiger nose on the lower grille, and we have
01:31 very aggressive hood vent, sort of faux hood vents at the top of the car.
01:35 The headlights, you may recognize from the Cadillac El Mirage concept or the 2015 Escalade.
01:42 Again, this is a really back to basics car.
01:45 It seems really exciting.
01:46 A lot of players are getting into this small sports car market after the success of the
01:51 Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ.
01:54 Kia wants a piece of that, and they're off to a good start with this.
01:58 What do you think?
01:59 Tell us in the comments.
