00:00 Veronica, what are you doing tonight?
00:03 I don't know, morning, maybe watch some TV.
00:07 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Shocking Teen Movie Moments.
00:14 Wendy, how much have you told him?
00:16 About his place in all this?
00:18 A little.
00:20 Maybe not enough.
00:22 For this list, we'll be looking at those times we were reminded that just because teen movies have a formula doesn't mean they can't take us by surprise.
00:30 Which does mean, yes, there will be spoilers in this video.
00:33 Which teen movie moment had you gasping? Tell us about it in the comment section.
00:38 Number 10. The true source of Micah's itchy situation. Easy A.
00:44 Though Olive Pendergast willingly assumed the role of high school seductress, she didn't anticipate that everyone would start to think the worst of her.
00:51 But when Micah is diagnosed with an STI, even the dim-witted super senior realizes he can use her as a scapegoat.
00:58 Who have you been screwing? Tell me! Tell me now! Or I will kill you right here!
01:06 Olive! Olive Pendergast!
01:08 His lie obviously gets people clutching their pearls.
01:11 However, the real shock comes when his actual sexual partner is revealed to be the guidance counselor, Mrs. Griffiths.
01:18 You should know that my marriage is not great, okay? We haven't slept together in like in months, in months, alright?
01:23 So finally this great looking guy comes in and he's nice to me, you know? And he's not a minor. This is legal.
01:29 Obviously, the breach of trust between a student and authority figure is abhorrent, regardless of how old he is.
01:35 And at first, Mrs. Griffiths seems to realize that her actions are destructive.
01:40 Unfortunately, when Olive offers to take the rap, Mrs. Griffiths is quick to let her.
01:44 And her willingness to pass the blame is truly appalling.
01:47 But I see no other alternative than to just live with the guilt.
01:51 My guilt stems from my indiscretion and yours from lying.
01:54 We made our choices and we just have to let it ride.
01:58 Number 9. Eleanor's True Colors - Do Revenge
02:02 Do Revenge is a movie that leans gleefully into the classic tropes of a 90's teen film.
02:07 And at its heart are Drea and Eleanor, a dethroned Queen Bee and a nerdy new girl, teaming up to strike a blow against the people who wronged them.
02:15 And we're not concerned that Max is going to realize we're manipulating him?
02:19 Narcissists are too busy thinking about themselves to realize they're being played.
02:26 As Eleanor infiltrates the popular clique on Drea's behalf, it seems like their plan is working a little too well.
02:34 But it's only after the two have fallen out that Drea realizes she and Eleanor have a past.
02:40 Yeah, she came out to me and I...
02:45 I...
02:48 She told everyone that I tried to hold her back and kiss her.
02:51 She turned me into this predator.
02:52 Turns out, the whole plot was a setup for Drea and the former nosy Nora was the true puppet master pulling the strings all along.
02:59 We have to give it up to this movie for subverting archetypes as well as it uses them.
03:04 I'm gonna make sure that you are stuck with your pain forever because I know that I'm stuck with mine.
03:10 It'll be like our very own version of friendship tattoos.
03:13 You like scary movies?
03:18 Uh-huh.
03:19 What's your favorite scary movie?
03:21 Drew Barrymore was already an established name when she appeared in Scream, so nobody expected to see her become the first victim of the killer known as Ghostface.
03:29 Right from the jump, scare, Scream had us on edge and off guard.
03:34 But we still weren't ready when we got a look under the mask.
03:36 What's the matter, Sydney? You look like you've seen a ghost.
03:39 Two killers? Sure, it's unusual, but it makes sense.
03:43 However, we never could have predicted that Sydney's boyfriend/her film aficionado, Billy, was less a fan of on-screen killers than a student of them.
03:51 I think she wants a motive.
03:53 Hmm.
03:54 I don't really believe in motives, Sid. I mean, did Norman Bates have a motive?
03:57 No.
03:58 Did they ever really decide why Hannibal Lecter liked to mute people?
04:01 Don't think so.
04:02 See, it's a lot scarier when there's no motive, Sid.
04:05 Not to agree with Billy, but the mind-blowing revelation does up Scream's horror quotient.
04:11 After all, the only thing scarier than being stalked by a serial killer is learning you regularly made out with one.
04:17 I know what time it is, Sid.
04:19 It's after midnight.
04:21 It's your mom's anniversary.
04:23 Congratulations.
04:27 The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn Part 2
04:30 Arl, let us discuss things as we used to, in a civilized manner.
04:35 Fair words, Garland, but a little out of place given the battalion you've assembled against us.
04:43 With an army of voracious book fans at the core of its fandom, the Twilight movies made a lot of effort to be faithful adaptations.
04:49 So it shook fans to their core when the finale's climactic meeting of the Cullens and the Volturi swerved suddenly into unexpected territory.
04:57 Get them.
04:58 The death of Carlisle Cullen at the hands of Arlo landed like a physical gut punch,
05:06 and what had been a tense conversation on the page turned into a chaotic brawl.
05:10 Twilighters watched in dismay as beloved characters fought for their lives, and losses piled up on both sides.
05:16 At times, it seemed downright apocalyptic.
05:19 Luckily, it was all just one of Alice's visions, but it really got hearts racing for a few minutes there.
05:25 Cruel Intentions - Where to Begin With a Story That Seems Designed to Elicit Shock and Outrage
05:45 Catherine Murtoy's tutoring session with Cecile certainly raised eyebrows, especially in the 90s.
05:51 It's Catherine's relationship with her stepbrother, Sebastian Valmont, that really gets our skin crawling, though.
06:06 The way these two use people for ego and revenge isn't great, but the fact that they do it as a form of foreplay makes it so much worse.
06:15 Any luck with your girl?
06:17 Moving along quite well.
06:21 True, they're not actually related, but everything about this duo is wrong.
06:25 That said, Sebastian at least is able to grow as a person when he falls for Annette.
06:30 He shows real signs of redemption, making his sudden death in a car accident that much more gutting.
06:35 I love you, Annette.
06:37 I love you, too.
06:43 Across the Spider-Verse - As thousands of Spider-People unite to keep the Multiverse intact, Miles Morales is eager to help.
06:50 But from the minute he arrives at HQ, Miguel O'Hara makes it clear he is not welcome.
06:55 In light of the potential unraveling of space and time, we suppose Miguel's frustration is not unwarranted.
07:10 But it turns out that his antipathy towards Miles goes deeper, and where better than mid-chase to lay it all out.
07:16 Not only does Miles have a habit of causing disruptions, but his very being is a disruption.
07:38 This revelation adds a heavy weight to Miles' shoulders, while also opening up dizzying new questions.
07:43 And nothing prepared any of us for the moment he comes face to face with his own variant.
07:48 That's what we call a dangling conclusion.
08:06 Number 4 - The Bus Stops Here - Mean Girls
08:10 Don't get us wrong, Regina George has done some bad stuff.
08:20 In fact, in Mean Girls, she frequently stuns with just how devious she can be.
08:24 From her two-faced behavior, to the way she manipulates and intimidates everyone around her,
08:29 Regina is very clearly an antagonistic character.
08:32 Though we hate to see Katie fall to the dark side to beat her, we want to see Regina taking down a peg as much as anyone.
08:38 We did not, however, expect karma to come for her in the form of an errant school bus.
08:42 Mean Girls had several fantasy sequences that primed us for a fake-out.
08:52 And that's what makes this moment so jaw-droppingly unforgettable.
08:55 It's the smart writing that makes this movie so fetch.
08:59 Stop trying to make fetch happen. It's not going to happen.
09:02 Number 3 - Seeing Red on Prom Night - Carrie
09:05 Carrie White can't seem to catch a break.
09:08 Her mentally unstable mother makes her home life unbearable.
09:11 And at school, she is targeted by her peers.
09:14 But her luck seems to turn when the cute Tommy Ross asks her to prom.
09:17 Why is it so important to you?
09:19 I don't know, maybe because, um, you like my poem.
09:25 The night starts out like a dream. Indeed, Carrie is even named prom queen.
09:30 But it's then that the dream becomes a nightmare.
09:32 When she is doused by pig's blood on stage, she realizes that the entire evening was part of an elaborate prank.
09:38 The stunt alone is staggering in its viciousness.
09:41 But incredibly, the scene continues to escalate.
09:44 Finally pushed past her limit, Carrie snaps and takes out the whole gym in a supernatural rage.
09:50 Turns out, torment and telekinesis are a bad mix.
09:53 They laughed at me.
09:55 For me.
09:57 For me.
09:58 Number 2 - The Kids Are Not Alright - Kids
10:02 With its DIY feel and inexperienced young cast, this movie has a raw quality that is almost too realistic.
10:09 When I see my outlook on the situation, it's like getting fame, you know what I'm saying?
10:15 Set in the wide streets and cramped apartments of New York City,
10:19 Kids offers a frank portrayal of teenagers engaging in risky behaviors like substance use and unprotected sex,
10:25 as well as showing in no uncertain terms the potential consequences of those actions.
10:30 Jenny, you've tested positive for the HIV virus.
10:33 What?
10:34 The test isn't 100% accurate. You should-
10:36 I tested positive?
10:38 I'm sorry.
10:40 I only had sex with Telly.
10:45 You would think that such a diagnosis would be enough for one character to contend with,
10:50 but Jenny goes on to suffer a sexual assault later in the film that plays out right before our eyes.
10:55 No part of Kids is comfortable to watch, but its graphic unblinking portrayals of these events is something viewers can't easily shake.
11:02 Jesus Christ, what happened?
11:05 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
11:09 The root of Charlie's trauma.
11:11 The perks of being a wallflower.
11:13 Charlie's repressed memories reveal he suffered abuse at the hands of his Aunt Helen.
11:17 You said some things about her in your sleep.
11:19 I-I-I don't care.
11:22 If you want to get better, you have to.
11:26 Augustus Waters' terminal diagnosis.
11:29 The fault in our stars.
11:31 We were so busy worrying for Hazel, it didn't occur to us we could lose Gus.
11:35 I want Dad.
11:38 [Suspenseful music]
11:44 Apparently the world is not a wish-granting factory.
11:47 The Toros are cheaters.
11:49 Bring it on.
11:50 Torrance's entire world is rocked by the revelation that her teen's legacy is stolen.
11:55 Y'all been coming up here for years trying to steal our routines, and we just love seeing them on ESPN.
12:00 What are you talking about?
12:01 Brr, it's cold in here. I said there must be some Toros in the atmosphere.
12:04 I know you didn't think a white girl made that sh*t up.
12:07 The real rat at poise.
12:09 Thirteen going on thirty.
12:11 Jenna learns that her future self was the magazine's secret saboteur.
12:15 I know all about your little deal.
12:17 It's a sweet little deal, actually.
12:19 Editor-in-chief if you help him hit a million copies so you give him tips.
12:23 Oh my god.
12:24 Not bad.
12:25 I just wish I would have thought of it.
12:27 A night to forget.
12:29 Never been kissed.
12:30 The flashback to Josie's prom is so cruel it physically hurts to watch.
12:34 Hey, write a poem about this, geek!

12:57 Number one.
12:59 Heather Chandler's unexpected demise.
13:01 Heathers.
13:02 Just as mean as she is popular, Veronica's frenemy, Heather Chandler, seems like the obvious villain of the film that shares her name.
13:10 That was until JD blew into Veronica's life.
13:13 How the hell did you get in here?
13:14 Um, Veronica knew you'd have a hangover so, uh, I whipped this up for you.
13:21 When JD flippantly suggests poisoning the clique leader, Veronica laughs it off.
13:25 Yet JD's mug is the one that ends up in Heather's hand, sending her to an early exit.
13:30 At least you got what you wanted, you know?
13:32 Got what I wanted?
13:35 It is one thing to want somebody out of your life, it is another thing to serve them a wake-up cup full of liquid trainer.
13:40 Though Heather's presence looms large over the rest of the movie, the plot takes off in a very different direction
13:46 as high school dynamics take a back seat to JD's increasingly unhinged mayhem.
13:51 But in a movie built on upending expectations, it's the death of Heather Chandler that will always be its most iconic surprise.
13:58 I can't believe this is my life.
14:01 Oh my God.
14:04 I'm gonna have to send my SAT scores to San Quentin instead of Stanford.
14:08 Do you agree with our picks?
