Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen on Jonathan Taylor's status Week 5 vs. the Tennessee Titans.
Transcript
00:00 And then regards to Jonathan Taylor, he'll be back with the team.
00:04 He's practicing Wednesday.
00:05 He'll be out there with us, had great conversations with him.
00:08 He's super excited to be back with his teammates and look forward to having him.
00:13 >> How's he look and what is your level of optimism that he can help your team if
00:17 you can get him going?
00:19 >> Yeah, no, he's in good shape conditioning wise,
00:21 obviously putting on the pads and practicing is a different deal.
00:25 And I know it's been a long time since he's played football.
00:28 So we'll see how practice goes this week, see where he's at physically from putting
00:33 the pads on and we'll go from there.
00:36 >> How do you see him reintegrated to the team?
00:38 Do you expect him to play next week or is it like a long term?
00:41 >> Yeah, we'll see.
00:42 Like I said, we'll see how practice goes.
00:44 The conversations I've had with him have been great through this whole deal.
00:48 I'll keep those private, but he's in a good spot.
00:51 Obviously, I had a conversation with him the other day, talked to him today, but
00:55 he's excited to get back with his teammates.
00:58 >> Dane, what will you need to see from JT in practice to clear him for a game and
01:02 will that be a mutual decision?
01:04 >> Yeah, that's a good question, Kevin.
01:07 I think obviously just seeing how practice goes, feeling him to where he's at,
01:11 from a football standpoint, obviously the conditioning,
01:15 he's been working his tail off with the rehab process, he's feeling good.
01:19 So we'll have those conversations throughout the week and
01:22 then we'll make that decision.
01:24 >> Is it something to where you'd obviously rotate at that position?
01:26 Is that something where you would be comfortable just rotating him in or
01:29 would you want to wait till more of his normal workload?
01:32 >> Yeah, again, we'll have those conversations, see where he's at,
01:35 if he feels good, and then we'll rotate him in if he's ready to go, for sure.
