00:00 Hello it's Michael Plante coming to you from Old Trafford after once again we've
00:04 had a pretty bonkers game involving Manchester United. They've lost
00:07 3-2 tonight to Galatasaray in the Champions League in a really
00:11 devastating result for their Champions League hopes and their hopes of
00:14 progressing to the next round of the competition. Just going to move out of the way
00:17 for a second to just show you the Galatasaray fans just behind me they're
00:20 still here and what are we 20 minutes now after the full-time whistle. I saw
00:26 something quite remarkable that I've never seen here at Old Trafford before
00:29 that there were just hundreds, thousands of fans left in the stadium about 15
00:35 minutes after the game literally flooding from other areas of the ground
00:38 across just to celebrate with the fans over there. I've never seen anything like it
00:42 at Old Trafford. One section of the fans chatting to the other. There
00:45 seemed to be a group of fans with the other side of the stadium. I don't
00:48 really know what happened. Obviously they've managed to get tickets in the home end but a
00:51 pretty incredible night here at Old Trafford. One that the heads slightly
00:54 still spinning from if I'm totally honest. Another bonkers night involving
00:58 Manchester United who as I say suffer another home defeat. That's three out of
01:02 the last four now they've lost at home in all competitions. Of course lost to
01:05 Brighton and Hove Albion a couple of weeks ago, Crystal Palace at the weekend and
01:08 now Galatasaray. Tonight showed a lot of the issues once again. They've bladed
01:14 Eric Tenhag's team for long parts of this season because I actually thought
01:17 United for 75 minutes of this game with a better team played really well but
01:22 suddenly everything goes wrong and they just collapse. United they cannot deal
01:26 with setbacks, they can't deal with things going wrong, they can't deal with
01:29 issues. Defensively they're all over the place at the moment.
01:33 Individual players are not living up to the levels that they were playing at
01:37 last season. Kasimir in particular, I'll come to him. You know you've got a lack
01:42 of leadership at times at United. This should have been a game when they went
01:45 2-1 up in the latter stages. They should have won. A good team would see this game
01:49 out but United lacking backbone, lacking a real structure at times it seems
01:53 couldn't manage to get across the line. I'll give you a quick run through of
01:56 exactly what happened tonight. So Rasmus Hoyland put United 1-0 up early on.
02:01 By far and away United's best player for all the issues that are surrounding the
02:04 recruitment and all the problems surrounding United at the moment. Rasmus Hoyland
02:07 is a ray of sunshine I think at this club because his performance level
02:11 since he came in, I was among the many who weren't sure if he was the right
02:14 signing and the way he has played he's completely silenced all his doubters.
02:18 Okay it's very early on and you don't want to get ahead of yourself but he
02:21 played absolutely fantastically tonight. He put United ahead early on. Great cross
02:24 from Marcus Rashford. He nodded in, gave United a 1-0 lead.
02:29 Galatasaray went down the other end almost immediately equalised. Long ball
02:33 over the top. Diogo Dalot couldn't deal with it. Wilfred Zaha and him were
02:38 grappling for the ball. Ball kind of points up nicely. Zaha smashed it in
02:41 deflecting off Dalot who had a pretty stinking night if I'm honest. Certainly
02:44 in the first half really struggled to deal with Wilfred Zaha.
02:47 Anyway United went in half time 1-1. Came out for the second half.
02:53 Were quite good actually for the first 15-20 minutes all over them and eventually
02:56 got the goal. A mistake from Davison Sanchez the former Tottenham player
02:59 actually on loan from Tottenham at the moment still. Ball bounces, he
03:03 slips. Hoyland fires in a goal. Lovely little dink over the goalkeeper.
03:07 Fantastic and you think from there United are going to win on a really big
03:10 night in the Champions League for them but no. These old deficiencies and frailties
03:14 once again reared their head and within a couple of minutes I'm gonna have to
03:19 write this name out. Karim Akcinterglai. That's my best pronunciation of it
03:26 anyway. He equalised for Galatasaray. I think it was two minutes after United
03:31 went ahead. Lovely ball across. First time finish from him and he scored. It's
03:35 right through the heart of the United midfield and then I think the big
03:37 turning point of the game. Casemiro decides. The ball comes in to the box.
03:41 Casemiro lunging to try and get the ball from Dries Mertens. Fouls the Belgian
03:45 star. Brings him to the ground. Referee has no option but to show him a second
03:49 yellow card. Although personally I didn't think his first yellow card should have
03:52 been a booking but maybe a conversation for a later date. But then the
03:57 referee had no option but to point to the spot. Show him a second yellow card
04:00 because he did try and play the balls with just the yellow. Doesn't matter
04:02 anyway. It was sent off. United down to 10 men. They get a penalty. Mario
04:05 Ricciardi stands up but he misses. Went for par. Missed the target
04:10 altogether. At that point United needed to close this off. Make sure they don't
04:13 lose. But of course these deficiencies I was talking about. One long header
04:19 from actually the inside of the Galatasaray half managed to play in
04:23 Ricciardi who just a couple of minutes after missing that penalty chipped the ball
04:27 over Onana who again didn't impress tonight for me to give Galatasaray the
04:30 lead. From there United couldn't really get back into the game and
04:33 didn't really create many chances. Bruno Fernandes free kick and Anthony
04:36 Martial shot that was saved. Was subsequently flagged offside. That was
04:39 about it and United suddenly again when they have to deal with difficulties
04:43 when they have to stand up and be counted for this United team wilt under
04:45 the pressure and that was once again the case here. Look I could talk all day
04:49 about the problems that are impacting United at the moment and of course you
04:52 know they've got so many injuries they were without a recognised left back
04:54 tonight which is a big problem. They had to play Safian Amrabat there. He was
04:57 responsible for the third goal because he played because he's bad pass and then
05:01 he played everyone onside. So that's an issue and yeah there's just so many
05:05 issues blighting this Manchester United side at the moment and a big issue
05:08 tonight is that Bayern Munich won so they are now on six points. Galatasaray
05:13 on three points. United on zero. Copenhagen on one. I mean United, I see
05:18 Galatasaray as their main rivals for second spot. This is a huge advantage to
05:22 Galatasaray now. I suspect United will either have to beat
05:26 Bayern at home or go to Turkey and get a result because yeah they're
05:30 really really just underwhelming and underperforming. There's so many questions
05:33 for Tenhak to ask, to be asked. So many questions for the players I think to
05:37 answer as well. It's just not good enough from United at the moment. They need to
05:39 drastically improve and step up and we'll have to see of course if they can
05:43 manage to do that but for me Michael Plant, Arnaud Travertine, that is just about all.
05:46 I'll give you one last little look at those jubilant Galatasaray fans. Really
05:50 fantastic away support tonight I have to say but as always we've got all the
05:54 latest news up from both Manchester United and Manchester City on Manchester World.
