00:00 Late Night hosts finally made their TV return following the end of the writer strike.
00:05 ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, CBS's Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and NBC's Tonight Show
00:11 starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers resumed on Monday night, five
00:16 months to the day after they closed up shop when the Writers Guild of America went on
00:19 strike, which the Guild called to an end last week with a tentative agreement in place.
00:24 All four hosts opened their shows with expressions of gratitude for the WGA's new contract.
00:29 In a pre-taped, cold open, Colbert pretended to be on a rowboat at sea when a dolphin informed
00:35 him the strike had ended, and then addressed some of the key points in the agreement.
00:39 "Oh, I see.
00:40 Artificial intelligence can be used, but it can't be credited as a writer or be a source
00:44 of literary material?
00:45 That makes sense.
00:46 Why did that take five months?"
00:48 Fallon launched into a series of jokes about how excited he was to be back in the Tonight
00:52 Show studio.
00:53 "I'm more excited than a Jets fan during the first three plays of the season.
00:57 You gotta be kidding me!"
00:59 Kimmel did a cold open of him in therapy with Arnold Schwarzenegger as his shrink before
01:03 taking the stage only to find it commandeered by a pickleball foursome.
01:07 "We've been gone so long, the Bachelor is now a grandfather."
01:11 Myers, in a clip released before the show aired, delivered a heartfelt thanks to his
01:15 fellow writers and WGA leadership for getting the deal done, as well as his family for putting
01:20 up with him in the interim.
01:21 "I know it was not easy to have me around for five months.
01:25 I'll never forget the day this summer where my seven-year-old came up to me and said,
01:29 'Not only do I not care what Rudy Giuliani did today, I'm not going to care what he does
01:35 tomorrow.'"
