00:48 A recent Pulse Asia survey reveals more Filipinos disapprove of how the Marcos government is
00:53 handling inflation.
00:54 The survey conducted from September 10-14 reveals 56 percent of Filipinos disapprove
01:00 of the government's efforts to control inflation, 16 percent approve, while 28 percent are undecided.
01:06 Disapproval rose from the last survey held in June when 31 percent disapproved and 37
01:11 percent approved of the government's inflation response.
01:14 This comes after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who also serves as concurrent agriculture
01:19 chief, imposed price caps on rice.
01:22 Inflation remains the top concern for 74 percent of respondents, higher than in the June survey.
01:28 Inflation concerns cut across all socioeconomic classes.
01:34 The Department of Agriculture and the Department of Trade and Industry recommend price ceilings
01:38 on rice be lifted.
01:39 Bureau of Plant Industry Director Glenn Panganiban says it is now up to President Ferdinand Marcos
01:44 Jr. to decide on the recommendation.
01:46 Marcos set price caps on rice on September 5 in an attempt to stop hoarders and smugglers
01:51 from manipulating market prices to as high as 60 pesos per kilo.
01:55 The price cap has been a challenge for rice retailers who struggle to make a profit since
01:59 logistics costs are high.
02:01 The policy may have been used by traders as justification to lower buying prices from
02:05 farmers.
02:08 The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, or LTFRB, approves a one-peso provisional
02:13 fare increase for jeepneys nationwide.
02:16 The fare hike will take effect on Sunday, October 8, and will affect modern and traditional
02:20 jeepneys.
02:21 With this, the fares of traditional jeepneys rise from 12 pesos to 13 pesos, and modern
02:26 jeepneys from 14 pesos to 15 pesos.
02:29 The hike comes as gas prices continue to soar over recent months.
02:33 The government earlier handed out 2.95 billion pesos in fuel subsidies for public utility
02:38 vehicle operators.
02:40 The LTFRB said it has been considering a fare hike since mid-September as jeepney drivers
02:44 struggled to make ends meet.
02:48 The Bicol International Airport shuts down for several hours on Monday, October 2 due
02:52 to a bomb joke causing 12 flights to be delayed.
02:56 A crumpled notebook page scribbled with the word "bomb" was found in the aircraft's restroom
03:00 by the flight crew.
03:01 The incident occurred on Cebu Pacific Airlines Flight 5J326, which was scheduled to depart
03:06 for Manila at 10.45 a.m.
03:09 The BIA management temporarily closed the runway and deplaned 133 passengers, including
03:14 three infants, for security inspections.
03:17 The bomb threat caused a total of 10 Cebu Pacific flights to be delayed, with the affected
03:21 Cebu Pacific flight departing BIA at 2.39 p.m.
03:25 Making bomb jokes or threats is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years, along
03:29 with a fine of up to 40,000 pesos under Presidential Decree No. 1727.
03:34 An investigation is ongoing.
03:38 Gilas Pilipinas clinches its first Asian Games semifinal berth in 21 years after holding
03:43 off a massive Iran comeback, 84-83, in Hangzhou, China on Tuesday, October 3.
03:48 Justin Brownlee boosts up Gilas' run and brings in a total of 36 points, with 16 coming in
03:54 the first quarter.
03:55 But despite Gilas leading by as many as 21 points in the third quarter, Iran cut the
03:59 game deficit to a single possession at 78-76.
04:02 Veterans Junmar Fajardo and Brownlee stay composed enough to chip in two clutch layups
04:07 in the last minute of regulation, finishing at 84-83.
04:11 Fajardo finishes with 18 points, while fellow PBA MVP Scotty Thompson adds 11 points to
04:17 the nail-biting game.
04:18 Gilas now faces familiar foe China in the semifinals for a shot at a medal at 8 p.m.
04:23 on Wednesday, October 4.
04:26 U.S. media reports the Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy and musician Malcom McRae
04:32 officially tie the knot on Monday, October 2, at the Palazzo Pisani Moretta in Italy.
04:37 The Venice wedding is attended by 150 of the couple's family and friends, including Anya's
04:41 The Menu co-star Nicholas Holt and actresses Julia Garner and Cara Delevingne.
04:46 The couple first met in March 2021 at the Queen's Gambit premiere, then became Instagram
04:50 official in October 2021.
04:53 In March 2022, Malcom posted a song he wrote about Anya two days after they met on Instagram.
04:59 Rumors of the couple's engagement began circulating in June 2022 when Anya was spotted with what
05:04 appeared to be an engagement ring while she was in Australia.
05:07 In an interview with British Vogue in 2022, Anya says she, quote, "finally found someone
05:12 who will happily sit in silence with me reading."
05:14 AMC Entertainment says a film based on U.S. pop star Beyoncé's hit Renaissance World
05:21 Tour is set to be distributed globally.

05:32 summer, spanning 57 concerts across 40 cities in North America and 14 across Europe.
