Having first taken on the role 27 years ago, Simon Nash, otherwise known as Deepdale Duck, has retired from Preston North End .

He was also a hugely important figure in the local community, regularly paying visits to local schools and community events within the greater Preston area, to help inspire the next generation to get themselves down to Deepdale, as well as bringing smiles to faces of people of all ages.

00:18 I think I'm the only mascot that doesn't dance.
00:39 Doesn't sing, I've got no move.
00:41 They go, "Oh, give us a move."
00:43 I haven't got any moves.
00:45 I'm the only mascot that speaks.
00:47 So that went, I've spoke to hundreds
00:51 and hundreds of people here.
00:53 It's just, well, they're members, my members as well.
00:57 When times are good and, yeah.
01:01 I remember the year 2000,
01:04 just, well, because we went up
01:08 and it was party time all over Preston.
01:11 It was fantastic.
01:12 And he was shouting at me and I think,
01:14 I thought, "Oh, I've got him railed."
01:17 So I started jumping up and down,
01:20 and he's going, "Go away, go away."
01:23 Then they all, they all piled in.
01:26 I was going, "Bloody, this hurts."
01:30 Oh, Craig Brown, he was lovely.
01:35 He was a really nice man.
01:38 There's no way that was a nice bucket challenge.
01:41 - How was that?
01:43 (upbeat music)
