00:44 The Shoe Monster
00:50 Little Nightmares is reminiscent of a John Carpenter film or a David Cronenberg masterpiece.
00:56 The use of body horror to make the monsters as off-putting as possible is often what enhances
01:00 the scare factor of these villains, but sometimes not knowing is almost more scary.
01:07 In Little Nightmares 1 there is a room of discarded shoes.
01:10 The shoe volume is so immense it almost creates a lake of leather and laces that the player
01:16 must cross.
01:17 Beneath the surface of this shoe lake lives the shoe monster who chases the player as
01:22 they move through its habitat.
01:24 Its location only visible with shoes being tossed and moved while it approaches the player
01:28 faster than they can drudge.
01:30 You never see the monster but if you are caught it pulls you under the shoes and does god
01:35 knows what to you.
01:37 Well I mean it kills you, I know that much.
01:39 Wait am I god?
01:40 The Shadow Kids
01:46 The Secrets of the Maw DLC was not spared of awesome moments, great story and terrifying
01:53 villains.
01:54 The Shadow Kids are found in the ladies quarters in this DLC and present as simple to kill
02:00 annoyances.
02:01 What makes them terrifying is that they hide in darkness, and if you aren't paying attention
02:05 they can be difficult to spot.
02:07 As the guardians of the ladies quarters we knew they were going to be awful to deal with,
02:12 and if the player isn't quick enough eliminating these guys they can very quickly and very
02:17 easily overwhelm us.
02:20 Yucko.
02:24 The Viewers
02:31 Mind control is a terrifying concept.
02:34 In Little Nightmares 2 the viewers appear to be regular humans who have had their faces
02:38 deformed and mutated by the signals of the televisions, televisions that they cannot
02:43 turn away from.
02:45 Without a television they become incredibly agitated and violent and will hunt the player
02:50 like fast moving zombies until a television distracts them.
02:54 Their aggression towards the player is something straight out of a nightmare, but what makes
02:58 them extra unsettling is the way that they will seek out the nearest TV by any means
03:04 necessary, sometimes even walking straight off buildings to their own deaths.
03:09 I hate to repeat myself but YUCKO!
03:23 The Doctor
03:31 One of the most memorable villains from Little Nightmares 2 was the Doctor.
03:36 The image of the Doctor performing unknown surgery behind a screen is one that will not
03:41 leave our minds any time soon.
03:44 The Doctor is a large man, but even at his size he is able to crawl efficiently around
03:50 the ceiling as his main form of travel.
03:52 His sheer weight makes whatever room he's in creak and crack, always leaving the player
03:57 wondering if the roof is going to come crashing down on them.
04:01 His unnatural form of movement, his grotesque appearance and his bloodthirsty pursuit of
04:06 the player makes him one of the most terrifying villains in the whole game.
04:23 Twin Chefs
04:28 Yuck ew gross go away.
04:32 The Twin Chefs from Little Nightmares 1 came early in the experience and really set the
04:37 series off right.
04:39 As a pair they already seem creepy from the get go as they prepare meals using human flesh.
04:44 Their grotesque appearance and horrifying faces accompany their already gross behaviour,
04:50 but as time goes on you get to hear their awful, awful screams which are muffled and
04:56 unsettling, highlighting the worst detail of these terrifying villains, their faces
05:01 aren't actually attached.
05:05 There is conjecture online as to whether they are wearing someone else's face or their own
05:09 faces rotting off and peeling, but either way we can all agree they are no bueno.
05:20 The Patients
05:30 Remember the Doctors awful surgeries, remember how upsetting they were to listen to and see?
05:35 Well what if those creations started chasing you around?
05:38 Introducing the Patients.
05:40 The Patients are the diabolical creations of the Doctor which appear to be the result
05:44 of unfinished surgeries with their missing body parts and dodgily assembled prosthetic
05:49 limbs.
05:50 When still they appear and act like mannequins, but when the player isn't looking directly
05:55 at them with their torch they charge and move towards us with a wild amount of speed and
06:01 their pain squeaking limbs accompanying their pursuit.
06:04 The Patients are clearly the result of a healthcare system gone wrong.
06:08 Wait no I've got a better joke, the Patients thought their surgery would be cheap, turns
06:13 out it cost an arm and a leg, nailed it.
06:22 The Lady
06:28 Sometimes it's the most normal looking villains that provide the biggest scares.
06:33 The Lady from Little Nightmares appears physically like a geisha and although she has a somewhat
06:39 disfigured face under her mask it isn't comparable to the faces of the other villains we've seen
06:44 throughout the game.
06:45 Her scares come from her unsettling way of moving, her end boss threatening aura and
06:51 her constant and unending use of jump scares.
06:55 I mean seriously, her popping out of the shadows to try and get a bite out of me was one of
06:59 the worst days of my life.
07:09 The Janitor
07:15 The Janitor is the beginning of the process in Little Nightmares.
07:19 He is kind of the beginning of the nightmare as the villain tasked with grabbing and capturing
07:23 children to either be enslaved or prepared as food.
07:27 His horrifying appearance begins with his rotting skin which droops over his eyes making
07:33 him completely blind.
07:35 As step one of this child capturing process you'd think a blind guy would be a bad business
07:39 decision, but the Janitor also has the best nose and the longest creepiest arms in the
07:45 kid capturing market so he's worth every cent of whatever they're paying him.
07:50 Not only does his appearance make him one of the scariest villains in Little Nightmares
07:54 visually but it makes him one of the scariest villains in horror gaming history.
07:59 Yakko again.
08:08 The Teacher
08:23 The Teacher from Little Nightmares 2 is such a chilling character that you only need to
08:27 see her visually to understand the horror that is her whole vibe.
08:32 Towering over the protagonist she is a nightmarish amalgamation of a teacher and a giant insect.
08:40 Her elongated neck and eerie mask conceal her true face adding to the unsettling ambience.
08:46 Players must stealthily navigate her classroom avoiding her watchful gaze and carefully timed
08:51 patrols making her a formidable and anxiety inducing antagonist in this entries nightmarish
08:57 world.
08:58 Even when the player thinks they've escaped her, her Mrs. Incredible-esque neck chases
09:02 you down with her head coming in for the kill.
09:05 No thank you, I'm dropping out of school.
09:12 The Thin Man
09:24 Much like the lady, the thin man is scary not just because of his appearance which we'll
09:28 talk about in a second, but because he is actually a threat.
09:32 His power and presence is intense as the main antagonist of the second entry.
09:37 He can teleport making him almost impossible to escape and his main goal, you guessed it,
09:43 kidnapping children.
09:44 His tall and slender appearance is reminiscent of Slenderman and his slow pursuit of the
09:49 player makes you extra unsettled as he doesn't seem to need to try very hard to capture you.
09:55 As one of the only villains with a normal face, you wouldn't think he could match the
09:58 intensity of the other monsters we encounter, but he does, and to that I only have one thing
10:04 to say, YAKKO!
