00:54 and uplifting Filipino musical culture through her vocal performances
00:59 in recording, concert, stage, film, and television.
01:04 Given this day, October 1, 2023, the Geek City Philippines, signed by
01:09 Maribel Garcia, Noel Ortiz, Noel Ferrer, and myself.
01:14 Regine Velasquez Alcasi!
01:20 This is such an honor. I didn't even know that I'm actually gonna be awarded tonight.
01:27 I thought I was just gonna attend an awarding show.
01:32 I mean, I'm gonna be awarded.
01:35 You were awarded.
01:37 I was awarded. Yes.
01:40 Well, thank you, thank you so much. And for all the artists who sang tonight,
01:47 performed tonight, thank you, thank you so much.
01:50 Thank you so much, Mr. Seymour. Thank you, thank you.
01:54 Thank you.
01:59 I'm overwhelmed and
02:02 medyo weird sa akin kasi parang I'm being given this honor
02:10 with what I do, na pinagkakakitaan ko.
02:17 Na pinagkakakitaan ko and that I enjoy doing.
02:27 Now that I'm a little older,
02:31 now that I'm a little older, it has become my passion already.
02:40 It's not like it was before, na, you know, I'm a singer and this is my job
02:46 and this is what I do, although I love it. It's not like that for me anymore.
02:51 Music has become my life already. It has always been, but it's different now.
02:57 I have become more passionate about it and I'm happy that I get to inspire people.
03:07 Kasi bilang kontesera ako, I have this thing that every time I sing,
03:13 sinusukat ko yung, sinusukat ko yung sarili ko lage, kahit saang stage pa ako.
03:20 I think it's my instinct because I came from, you know, singing contest.
03:24 But I'm not like that anymore. Like I said, it's different now for me.
03:31 I'm happy that I'm still here, but more than the fame, more than,
03:41 although I love that, more than the money, oh I really like that.
03:48 Baliho. More than any of those things, what I love is that I'm able to still inspire other artists.
03:56 A whole generation and more!
04:11 And hanggang nandito ako, that's what I love now. It's not anymore the, alam mo yung parang palamuti ng industry na natin.
04:21 It's, I think ganun talaga pag tumatanda ka na I guess.
04:25 Yung, yung, yung, ano na yung, yung purpose na of what we are doing, why we're here.
04:32 So gusto ko lang magpasalamat ulit sa inyong lahat for being here.
04:37 Thank you, thank you again to you guys for, of course my family, for my, for supporting me always.
04:47 My, my mom, my, my father in heaven.
05:01 But, because, you know, he was the one who discovered me.
05:06 So this is for you, Jerry.
05:08 And molded me, taught me how to do everything that I know now.
05:13 So, my entire family, my sister, who's my manager, my first manager, who's also my second father, Ronnie Inariz.
05:22 Freddie Santos, who has become a big part of my life and my career.
05:45 And of course, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who's been supporting me all these years.
05:52 37 years? 37 years. Maraming maraming salamat. And you guys are still here listening to me, to...
06:01 Oo, 3 years na lang ako awarding. Oo, kama niyo. Basta, basta, konti tanda lang.
06:09 Hayaan mo na. Ang lakas baka matanda. Oo, lifetime, Regina.
06:16 And we love you, Regina. We love you. Don't we love Regina?
06:22 Maraming maraming salamat po. But most importantly, I would like to dedicate this honor to my husband.
06:46 He's the one who's pushing me now, always reminding me to... 'cause, you know, when my voice changed,
06:58 I always say, "I don't wanna sing anymore. Maybe singing is not for me anymore."
07:03 And he would always tell me, "Of course not. You will always be the best." Of course, he's my husband.
07:10 He's allowed to say that. And he'll say that. But thank you, honey, for always encouraging me to never stop singing.
07:19 Otherwise, I would have already. So thank you, honey. Thank you very much.
07:23 It's your encouragement and your love why I'm still here. So thank you.
07:28 And God, thank you for this gift that you have given me. Thank you to this whole industry.
07:36 It has changed my life and my family's life. You all know where I came from.
07:42 And it has changed our lives. So thank you very much.
07:49 So, Jamie, we would like to ask you, we would like to ask each performer in Pinoy Playlists,
07:54 what is your dream for the future of Pinoy music?
07:58 That's what he's looking at. World peace?
08:01 For me, as a musician, my dreams and my hopes for our music industry, for OPM,
08:17 we should never stop creating. For the songwriters, keep writing songs.
08:25 For the interpreters like myself, keep singing. Although, I always tell my husband this,
08:31 never stop creating music. Although sometimes we will feel like, "Eh, parang wala namang nakikinig."
08:40 That's okay. We can feel bad. But then again, akala lang natin yun, pero laging may nakikinig.
08:48 Laging may napatouch. Laging may ganit-inspire.
08:59 Pero God gave us this wonderful palette. And we are supposed to create.
09:07 We are supposed to share it. If we don't, then we wasted it.
09:14 Yes!
09:16 [Applause]
09:18 [Silence]
