00:00 More Filipinos are expected to be able to study in Canada this year.
00:05 The Philippines was Canada's second largest source of international students in 2022.
00:10 Canadian educational technology company Applyboard says
00:14 nearly 24,000 Filipinos were approved to study in Canada last year,
00:19 up from 13,000 in 2021 and just 5,000 in 2019.
00:24 So actually we are seeing an increase of trend of increasing Filipino students
00:30 who are applying for a study permit.
00:33 We're looking into right around 30% of increase from the previous year.
00:38 At the Study Expo in Canada Fair organized by Applyboard in Pasay City,
00:43 20 prestigious universities and colleges held an orientation for applicants.
00:47 These include Mac A1 University and Beauvalley College in Alberta,
00:52 Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto, Algoma University and Fanshawe College in Ontario,
00:57 and Alexander College and Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia.
01:01 We actually have over 140 programs for all of the interested students
01:05 so they can always choose something that fits them the most.
01:07 93% chances that when they get out of the school they already have job offers.
01:12 We want good students, we have the job, we just need the skill set to fill that community labor market.
01:19 Scholarships were offered and recruitment agencies and consulting firms
01:22 were present to handle applications for admission.
01:25 We do offer scholarships, so for those students who have over 80% in their high school,
01:30 they do have an ability to apply for a scholarship up to $4,000.
01:35 We're based in the Philippines, we have an office that can support while you're applying
01:39 and we're also, our head office is in Canada.
01:42 The annual Study Expo in Canada Fair was held in Manila and Cebu
01:47 and can possibly be repeated in Davao City next year.
