Notre Dame Pass Game Will Be Tested vs Duke

00:13 That is the Notre Dame pass offense against the Duke pass defense and Notre Dame's rankings

00:20 are outstanding.

00:21 Obviously, they ranked 34th in the country in yards per game.

00:25 That's a little misleading because they've had a couple games where they didn't throw

00:30 a whole lot in the second half.

00:32 They ranked 7th.

00:33 They're in the top 10 nationally in yards per attempt, total touchdowns, fewest interceptions,

00:38 pass efficiency and plays that rank in the top.

00:42 The pass plays have gone for at least 30 yards.

00:44 They also rank 18th in fewest sacks allowed.

00:47 They're 16th in the country in yards per completion.

00:50 So far this season, statistically, the pass game has been outstanding.

00:55 Here's the problem.

00:57 When you look at what Notre Dame did against the best team that they played so far, the

01:00 best pass defense they've played so far, their pass offense had by far its worst game of

01:04 the year.

01:06 And so you're playing a defense this week in Duke that has one of the best pass defenses

01:16 in college football.

01:18 And it's for several reasons.

01:19 Number one, as I said before, they're coached extremely well.

01:23 Tyler Santucci is one of his co-coordinators.

01:25 He was a GA, I believe a GA or an analyst at Notre Dame the year that Mike Yoko was

01:30 So he's a guy that knows the Notre Dame program.

01:32 But they've been very good so far.

01:33 I mean, you look at their numbers, they rank in the top five in yards allowed, fewest yards

01:37 allowed per game.

01:38 They rank number one in the country in yards allowed per attempt, number two in yards allowed

01:41 per completion.

01:42 They're number four in pass efficiency defense, and they have yet to allow a single play of

01:47 30 yards or more on the season.

01:49 And even the statistics where they're not super high interceptions, they've had four

01:54 in four games, so that's one per game.

01:57 They do rank 76 in sacks, so they're not a team that gets a lot of sack pressure, but

02:03 they get a decent amount of pressure that can be disruptive.

02:06 And that's why Duke ranks where they rank when it comes to their pass defense.
