00:00 I am Dr. Sanjana Tiwari and I am an anesthesiologist by profession.
00:04 It has become very common to hear that our friend, our relative or a neighbour has been
00:11 taken to the hospital where a heart attack has been detected.
00:14 So, why is it becoming so common?
00:17 People of 25-30 years of age and not necessarily unfit people, even fit people, they are suffering
00:24 from these cardiac issues.
00:27 It's very important to bring a few changes in your lifestyle that can actually make a
00:31 very big difference.
00:32 So, the number one thing which I personally feel is very very important, especially in
00:37 our Indian population is our diet.
00:39 If you prepare your sabzi or your dal in 4 tablespoons of ghee and put 4 tablespoons
00:45 on top of it, it doesn't mean it's a healthy diet.
00:48 So, it's very important to bring these changes in your daily lifestyle.
00:53 Avoid that extra pinch of salt in your food.
00:58 Try to incorporate more fibre in your diet.
01:00 Eat more of salads.
01:01 Eat less of the oils.
01:03 Then the next thing is our exercise.
01:05 We all are tempted to skip that one day of gym and just lie down in our beds.
01:10 Any form of physical activity is just necessary to get up from your chair and just do it.
01:15 Basically, the point of exercise is not just reducing those layers of fat.
01:20 It's not just reducing your weight.
01:23 It's also a very good way to reduce your stress.
01:27 In today's heart attacks and heart issues, stress is one of the most important factors
01:34 which is also one of the reasons I feel in the young population, it's becoming more common.
01:39 Everybody has immense amount of career stress these days and it's very important to manage
01:45 your mental health along with your physical health for a complete well-being of the heart.
01:50 Another important factor I feel is the genetics of a person.
01:53 Some people have a running in their family.
01:56 Some people's parents or close relatives have a direct history of heart attacks or heart issues.
02:05 It's important to be more vigilant for them.
02:09 People with diabetes or people who are overweight, people with thyroid issues, hypertension,
02:15 any comorbidity, any disease you have, they also need to be more vigilant.
02:22 Regular sugar checks, regular BP checks, a word on post-COVID cardiac issues.
02:28 We have seen that after the COVID pandemic, especially a lot of incidents are coming in hospitals,
02:34 especially in the young population.
02:37 So COVID is a disease which has to be explored more.
02:42 Any disease takes years and years of research to come to a conclusion as to why it is happening.
02:48 Ongoing research is there but yes, it has been seen that post-COVID,
02:52 there are some people who are more susceptible to cardiac issues.
02:57 So important thing is not to neglect your symptoms.
03:00 If any of you have sudden uneasiness, sweating, feeling hot and cold, chest pain,
03:10 chest pain that especially goes to your left hand, it can also go to your back, sudden anxiety.
03:18 Don't ignore all these symptoms.
03:20 If this is happening to you or your loved ones, please take them to the hospital.
03:28 Get an ECG done, get a checkup done.
03:30 These small steps can really save a life.
03:32 This has also been seen a lot in gyms, during workout, during dancing, they collapse suddenly.
03:40 So there is no need to over-exercise.
03:42 It's very important that you do as much exercise as your body type is suitable for you from a trained trainer.
03:51 And this habit of taking unnecessary steroids and all these supplements,
03:58 please consult your dietician or your doctor before you take any of these supplements or steroids or whatever.
04:05 These are all small things.
04:07 If you take care of these things in your daily life, then definitely it will play a big role.
