Lamborghini Revuelto - track testing by factory driver Andrea Caldarelli

  • last year
On the eve of the international dynamic debut at the Autodromo Piero Taruffi in Vallelunga, Lamborghini factory driver Andrea Caldarelli tested the new Revuelto, the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) on the Roman circuit.

Unveiled in the brand’s 60th anniversary year, Revuelto defines a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness, and driving pleasure from its unprecedented new architecture, innovative design, maximum-efficiency aerodynamics, a new carbon chassis concept, and a 1015 CV powertrain that combines the new V12 engine with three electric motors.

With Lamborghini, Caldarelli has won some of the most prestigious titles in the endurance category, including the triple crown of the GT World Challenge Europe in 2019 and the 24 Hours of Daytona in the GTD category. Caldarelli will also be part of the crew that will contend the 2024 season of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the wheel of the new Lamborghini SC63.

00:14 I'm Andrea Caldarelli, Lamborghini factory driver.
00:16 [ENGINE REVVING]
00:19 We are here in Vallelunga today to take you on board the
00:22 Lamborghini Revuelto, the first V2L plug-in hybrid.

00:34 Let's push this to the limit.
00:35 [ENGINE REVVING]
00:45 1,015 CV straight away, with a nice burnout, and 0-100 in
00:52 just 2.5 seconds.
00:54 And we are here already, first corner, third gear.
00:58 You can really appreciate the active aerodynamic kicking in,
01:02 especially when you hit the brake.
01:04 You see from your rear view mirrors the wing going up.
01:08 And it's amazing how much downforce we
01:11 are able to generate.
01:12 But then you go on power, and look at this.
01:16 Look at this.
01:17 It's so fun.
01:19 [ENGINE REVVING]
01:22 Also, all the gear changes, amazing, with a double clutch
01:27 transmission, eight speed.
01:30 You can really feel all the gears going in so smoothly.
01:35 Now a very slow corner in second gear.
01:39 We put the nose in, and here you go.
01:42 When you ask for power, you have those three electric
01:45 motors plus the V12 engine kicking in all together.
01:49 It's so smooth.
01:51 [ENGINE REVVING]
01:54 It's insane how we can be so smooth with a V12 engine,
01:59 thanks to the electric torque vectoring from the electric
02:05 motor.
02:06 It gives you such a nice feeling and precision on
02:09 driving that we never had before on a Lamborghini.
02:13 And now it's such a privilege to drive it around this track
02:17 and have all this feeling.
02:19 [ENGINE REVVING]
02:21 In a corner like this, where you have to have a double
02:24 apex, a bit of steering angle, wait there, push on throttle,
02:28 waiting that the electric motor kick in from the front,
02:31 the V12 from the back, and then you don't even feel it.
02:35 You are in sixth gear doing 250 kilometers an hour, and
02:40 you don't really feel that you have
02:42 shifted actually four gears.
02:44 Obviously, we are in Corsa mode.
02:46 That gives you all the best.
02:48 Literally, you can feel every single centimeter of the track.
02:52 Every steering input is so precise.
02:55 Such an amazing machine.
02:57 Amazing.
02:59 This is Lamborghini DNA.
03:01 You want to have fun when you are on track.
03:04 You want to push it to the limit.
03:05 And this new Revuelto really gives you this, our new V12
03:12 plug-in hybrid.
