00:00 Hello, here are the top headlines today making the news across our newsrooms in the North West.
00:07 The climbing centre, Clip and Climb, has announced a short closure of the Preston branch due to what it calls 'unforeseen circumstances'.
00:16 Although the exact circumstances haven't been specified, the statement blames the closure on circumstances relevant to the lease of the Preston building.
00:25 The centre will cease trading on October 31st, with bookings to this date honoured by the hub.
00:32 The sudden death of a man in an alleyway near a Blackpool primary school is not being treated as suspicious, say police.
00:39 The man, aged in his 30s, was found dead in an alley behind Eastwood Avenue, next to Leighton Primary School, at around 8.30am on Monday.
00:49 The alley was cordoned off whilst CSI examined the scene, but detectives are now satisfied that the cause of death is not suspicious.
00:58 Two Lancaster men are being hailed as heroes after coming to the aid of a teenager having a seizure in the middle of a road.
01:04 The actions of Neil Troughton and Simon Doughterty helped save the life of 19-year-old Kieran Shelby, which happened near Middleton.
01:12 Kieran had been staying with his family at their caravan and was on his way to see a friend when he had a seizure in Middleton Road and banged his head.
01:20 Just 20 days later, Kieran walked out of hospital and says he now feels back to normal.
01:26 A kitchen worker at Wigan Infirmary has been enmassed as a child sex offender.
01:31 Karl Copeland narrowly avoided a jail sentence last month after admitting that he sent sexual messages to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl,
01:39 but was actually a decoy set up by a so-called paedophile hunting group.
01:43 Wigan Wrightington and Lee NHS Trust confirm that 34-year-old Copeland has been employed in the Cajun department,
01:51 but that he is not currently in the workplace and hasn't been since health chiefs became aware of the concerns.
02:00 An amateur photographer from Burnley has seen his photo shortlisted and highly commended in the prestigious Global Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition.
02:11 Lee Mansfield submitted his full moon sequence, showing the incredible detail of the moon rising over Rivington Pike.
02:18 Lee has only been a keen night and astrophotographer since the start of the pandemic.
02:24 Now for the weather. It will be mostly dry through today with variable amounts of cloud and occasional bright intervals.
02:32 A few showers possible into the afternoon as cloud builds. Less windy than Wednesday but still breezy.
02:40 That's it for now. Thanks for watching.
